Bible Question:  Was Abram's response a right (legal) one, or was he backing down and surrendering his due authority?

Bible Answer:  First of all, Abram should not have taken the handmaiden. He should have been patient and waited upon God.
Even when Sarai told him to go into her handmaiden, he should have refused, however since he did't and Hagar became pregnant, he should have stood by her and their child. He only wanted peace with Sarai. Sin never brings peace.
