Bible Question: 'fourth generation'? How does this relate to the 400 years of v. 13? Is 400 years 10 generations?

Bible Answer: Hi Thomas:
What it is clearly saying is, 400 years equals 4 generations. The term, or word, (generation) is rather fluid, in this case it refers to a, life-span. We don't see 10 generations in this passage of scripture. Using a concordance, you can do a word search on, Generation[s] and see where it comes up in Scripture, and how it's meaning varies. This will help you a lot when the word comes up again in your reading of the Bible.
