NASB | Genesis 13:10 Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere--this was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah--like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 13:10 So Lot looked and saw that the valley of the Jordan was well watered everywhere--this was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah; [it was all] like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar [at the south end of the Dead Sea]. |
Bible Question:
Many maps that I have seen shows Sodom and Gomorrah shows them near the Dead Sea. Yet, no where in Genesis is the sea mentioned -- but it is mentioned in Numbers. I have read that the Islamic faith say that the Dead Sea was formed after the destruction of these two cities. Has there been any Christian theology on whether the Dead Sea was formed after the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah? |
Bible Answer: Hi starfalcon Read Genesis 13 as a starting point to answer your question. Zoar is on the maps of the area, and it was close to the cities destroyed. Vintage68 |
