Bible Question: The gospel of John tells us that Jesus Christ is the creator and he is the Light. Why in Gen. 1 does God have to create light? and why would the world have been created in darkness? It seems that God should have had to create darkness since 1 John 1:5 states: God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." (KJV) |
Bible Answer: Hi dayoak, Welcome to the forum. In the beginning we see the triune God created the heavens and the earth. "And the Spirit of (God) was moving over the surface of the waters." 1) Genesis 1:3, "Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light." Genesis 1:26, "Let Us make man ..." 2) Gen 1:4, "And God saw that the light was good;..." Gen 1:26, "...in Our image,..." 3) Gen 1:4, "...and God separated the light from the darkness." Gen 1:26, "...according to Our likeness;..." 4) Gen 1:4, "And God called the light day,..." Gen 1:27, "And God created man..." 5) Gen 1:4, "...and the darkness *He called night." [Man was to fall into sin] Gen 1:27, "...in *His own image, in the image of God/ He created him. Here we see the (Light) of the world in creation. John 12:46, "I have come AS light into the world, that everyone who believes in Me/ may not remain in darkness." From the heart, Ray |
