AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 1:26 ¶ Then God said, "Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps and crawls on the earth." Bible Question: 1 Corinthians 10:26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof. John 14:30 "I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me; i do not understand, how dose satan rule the earth if the earth is the lord's? i read my bible but there is alot that i do not understand.thank you for your help |
Bible Answer: Greetings Pretrib! The word for 'world' can also mean 'age'. I think that Eph. 2:2 provides the answer to your question. "in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient." Satan does not rule the 'earth', that is the Lord's. However, he does rule over those who are disobedient (the lost). Since, at the time of Christ, most of the earth was disobedient, Satan could be called the 'ruler of this age'. Yet, it was an authority of 'influence', not real ownership or power. These have always been and always will be God's. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
