Bible Note: The only reference to Lucifer in the Bible is the passage in the book of Isaiah chapter 14. This passage is talking of the King of Babylon and since it uses similar wording to what Jesus spoke when He said he saw Satan fall from the Heavens many assume this passage is also talking of Satan. However there is nothing that I’m aware of that makes that connection a certainty. In fact the name Lucifer is not even used in the NASB, in the NASB Isaiah 14:12 instead uses the translated meaning of the word Lucifer which is Morning Star or Star of the Morning. To make this more interesting Jesus declares Himself the Morning Star in Rev 22:16 Like wise many claim to see a supposed gap of time between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 many citing the fact that verse 2 describes the World as formless and void. And while many make strong arguments for the gap theory there are equally strong arguments against it. I think we have to go with what we do know and that is Jesus often used the name Satan when he was talking about our adversary so I think that is the name we should use also. |
