Bible Question:
If your soul goes to the custody of the Lord upon your death, at what time will your Spirit unite with them? Thank You |
Bible Answer: Greetings BoJac1, Here is a repost of 226875: "Are the dead with the Lord, or still asleep, waiting for resurrection? The key to understanding this is that when we die, "then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it." (Ecclesiastes 12:7; 2 Cor. 5:8). So, the body returns to dust, waiting to be resurrected at the Second Coming (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18), while the spirit goes to be with the Lord (Acts 7:59; Philippians 1:21-26). At the resurrection, the body and spirit are reunited, "For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality." (1 Cor. 15:53)" --Makarios |
