Bible Question: How do I start to get help in reading the bible, and help in how to study the bible? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Priscellia! First you must realize that the Bible is not just a common book; it is the Word of God, His Word is eternal and transcendent. If your Bible does not have a build-in concordance, I suggest that you borrow or purchase one. Do not study haphazardly! Schedule your study time as generously as possible. Do not just read through the various books or pages. Read through as much as you can digest (incrementally), internalizing the Word. I am partial to the Gospel of John, which is the fourth book in the New Testament part of the Bible. I suggest that you start there because it brings you an "in your face" Christ, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. As you begin to learn, communicate with your relatives and friends about what you are learning; avail yourself of the various on-line Bible groups, and all the resources at your Church. Be patient and listen to others as they share Christ with you, and test all teachings/opinions against your Bible. Every time you begin your Bible study pray that the Holy Spirit enligten your mind and spirit so that God's Will is revealed to you. End each session with a prayer and some meditation on what you have learned. God Bless! Angel |
