Bible Question: I have a deep longing and yearning to have more heart knowledge of God and am wondering at the wording As a deer pants etc and also deep calls to deep. If it is deep within me to deep within God I want it. Any help or suggestions please |
Bible Answer: "As the deer pants for water, my souls pants for you the same way God", this is from Psalm 42v1, "Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls" is Psalm 42v7 I take it you mean you want to have the same relationship with God that this psalmist had. Look at the rest of the psalm. The psalmist is crying out in desperation because it doesn't appear to others that God is protecting him. v9 -"Why have you forgotten me, why must I go about mourning all the time?" The point is that even though he doesn't FEEL God's presence all the time, his security lies in certainties rather than feelings. vv5 and 11 the writer calls God his Saviour. Throughout the psalm he refers to the things God has done - and he can't wait for the time when he'll be able to feel close to God again. But his confidence lies in God's actions rather than his own feelings. I hope this helps. John |
