Rev 3:12
'He who overcomes
[the world through believing that Jesus is the Son of God],
I will make him a
1
pillar in the temple of My God; he will most certainly never be put out of it, and I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which descends out of heaven from My God, and My
[own]
new name.
[Is 62:2; Ezek 48:35; 1 John 5:5]
Amplified 2015 Translator's Notes:
Literal renderings, alternate translations or explanations.
1
Like the common phrase "pillar of the community," this is a metaphor of great honor, but far more so. The statement that the one who overcomes will never leave the temple is assurance that he will never lose the privilege of being in the presence of God and serving Him.
