861 | Aren't the elect commanded to repent? | Hebrews | CDBJ | 45039
Hi Tim, believers repent to get back in fellowship, it's not that they are lost again. The verse in Rev. 3:20 that everyone uses out of contex. Rev. 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Christ is talking to believers here not unbelievers. Now I will have both you and Joe after me, CDBJ |

864 | Where are they taken? | Luke 17:34 | CDBJ | 44984
Hello Kalos, I was reading an article the other day by Marvin Rosenthal that talked about Luke 17:37 Luke 17:37 "Where, Lord?" they asked. He replied, "Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather." Marvin said that this is what is known as a Hebraism and being a master of his history I thought that there would be some long explanation. Here it is just an expression that the Jews use to mean the following. Where there is immoral living, Devine judgment will follow. I have seen people trying to explain this verse by paragraph after paragraph and as it turns out it is only an expression, how about that. If you want to know something Jewish, ask a Jew; a born again Jew that is! CDBJ |

866 | CDBJ, 1 sin in a lifetime, means death? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 44853
To begin with, of which I am sure you know, when you take your first breath you are a sinner, because we are born in sin. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; We inherited this from dear old grandpa Adam, as we were in him when he sinned. The Bible say that we can reverse the outcome of this condition by being in Christ. 1 Cor. 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. The object according to this is to be in Christ; and therein lies the problem. Ever since Christ died on the cross to pay for the sins of the world, sins have not been the issue for salvation. 1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. Now if our individual sins are not the issue what is? There is only one thing that can keep a person out of heaven because God did all the work that is required. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to reveal to a lost world what the one sin is that can keep a person from eternal life with God and from being (in) Christ John 16:8-9 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9Of sin, because they believe not on me; The only thing that will keep a person out of heaven is rejecting God's Christ, his Son Jesus. Believing in Jesus Christ is all that God ask of us for salvation. Jesus Christ has paid for all our sins, past present and future. The big problem though is with the English word that has been translated believe from the Koine Greek word (pistis). The depth of the meaning of pistis cannot be grasped by using one word in the English and this is where people miss out. You said, (If they never sinned, would they need Christ?) The last part of your question is apparently loaded so I will answer it this way; there was one that was born that didn't have any sin, so did he need a savior? CDBJ |

868 | a new heaven and new earth. | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 43714
Hi joseph, and welcome to the forum. The question you ask, (In rev:21 1 I saw a new heaven and new earth will christians inherent a new earth or go to heaven?) First I would like to emphasize the word (new). It comes to us from the Koine Greek word, KAINOS, which according to Strong's Hebrew and Greek Dictionary mean, of uncertain affinity; new (especially in freshness; while Greek 3501 (neos) is properly so with respect to age) new. It would appear that it is more of a restoration rather then a different earth all together, Rev. 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. This of course must follow the 1000 year reign of Christ because there will be death in that period. The way I see it there will be a connection between heaven and earth at this time. Rev. 21:2-3 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. I think that this is the city that Abraham was promised, Hebrews 11:8-10 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. I would say that the answer to your question is both, CDBJ |

Scribe, lets spell it out like it really is and get into the real bad sins that God hates, according to his Word, not just the ones that seem to shock us. Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. It looks like your idea of a bad sin didn't even make the list. I wonder how many of us fall into these categories; maybe our sins are a little more refined then most??? Tongue in cheek,CDBJ |

876 | should red sea be reed sea instead ? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 42263
The Reed Sea is very shallow according to what I have heard and the probability that God had the Jews cross this area is even more spectacular then having them cross the Red Sea. To me is would be a greater miracle seeing that after Israel got across that God drowned all the Egyptian army in that shallow water. God would have had to flatten them first so that the shallow water would cover them, since they were covered like a stone when it sinks. That is hard to do in a couple feet of water. Exodus 15:4-5 Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea. 5The depths have covered them; They sank to the bottom like a stone. What do you think, CDBJ |

878 | how can i know Jesus died for me ? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 41965
Pray and ask God to reveal the truth to you. Then read the book of John through, then read it through again and keep doing this until you really believe what God is telling you. If I were the one promising you something it wouldn't mean a thing, but if God promises you something you better believe it, he can't lie! John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. That talking about eternal life, what more do you want!! |

880 | Revelation 4:7-11 | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 41582
The answer to your question is found in Rev. 4:6 the word beasts is the word ZOON in the original language of the Koine Greek and it means living things. John didn't know quite how to describe them so when he wasn't exactly sure what they were he uses the word (like) to set up and analogy. They are always around God; look at the description in Ezekiel 1:4-18 And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire. 5Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. 6And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings. 7And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass. 8And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. 9Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward. 10As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. 11Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies. 12And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went. 13As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. 14And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning. 15Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces. 16The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel. 17When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went. 18As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four. The same creatures are mentioned in Isaiah 6:1-3 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. Here the creatures are actually called seraphims, as a type of angelic being that guards God's throne. |
