81 | thankyou and follow up... | Matt 28:19 | coffee | 56433
Wow! Thankyou so much for all your help. What if it was to mean church group against church group, as is happening in an underlying fashion in my country? I feel at the moment that the meaning placed on the use of nations is very important to the overall meaning of the verse, and if it is as you have both stated then it now ties in directly with the words of Paul in Ephesians 4:1-16. How do you both feel about this?
82 | My wife is cursed,what can I do? | Ephesians | coffee | 56430
She needs acceptance, understanding and forgiveness - in other words, lots of love and she deserves it.
83 | the great commission/evangelism? | Matt 28:19 | coffee | 56428
Thank you for all of your input. I am still a little confused. In my country churches go head to head against other chuches simply due to the interpretation of this verse alone without considering how Ephesians relates to this verse. This makes me very sad and a little confused. Why must one church be correct at the cost of another? Or one person be correct at the cost of another? Why do we allow our interpretations to become more important than our love? This is why it makes me sad. Is there not only one God and one Lord and one church? Or is it just a man made church that is right at the cost of loving others?

86 | the use of nations? | Matt 28:19 | coffee | 56334
I have noticed that the word 'nations' has not yet been discussed. Does anyone have any views or insight on the use of this word? For example, do you believe Jesus is referring to people as in plural of individual or people as in groups of people, such as churches or countries, according to your understanding of the greek meaning of the word?
87 | the great commission/evangelism? | Matt 28:19 | coffee | 56333
If this request was just directed at the apostles then why do some say it is to all? On the other hand we are not all evangelists(Eph 4:11), so is there a difference between how some say that this request or 'great commission' was intended for all? - ie, does evangelists have a different meaning to spreading the word of God in order to convert? Why do I ask this? Because I see a great deal of conflict in interpretation and I personally think this is ok; however, when it is to provoke guilt I feel that it stops being of good intent and to force one's own interpretation on to another is not so good. For example, look at the diverse answers to the first question in this verse forum. All three answers are very different and to me that is ok. I sometimes think that we will only ever gets bits of it right but God knows it all and so trust Him. |
