Bible Question:
If this request was just directed at the apostles then why do some say it is to all? On the other hand we are not all evangelists(Eph 4:11), so is there a difference between how some say that this request or 'great commission' was intended for all? - ie, does evangelists have a different meaning to spreading the word of God in order to convert? Why do I ask this? Because I see a great deal of conflict in interpretation and I personally think this is ok; however, when it is to provoke guilt I feel that it stops being of good intent and to force one's own interpretation on to another is not so good. For example, look at the diverse answers to the first question in this verse forum. All three answers are very different and to me that is ok. I sometimes think that we will only ever gets bits of it right but God knows it all and so trust Him. |
Bible Answer: Thank you for all of your input. I am still a little confused. In my country churches go head to head against other chuches simply due to the interpretation of this verse alone without considering how Ephesians relates to this verse. This makes me very sad and a little confused. Why must one church be correct at the cost of another? Or one person be correct at the cost of another? Why do we allow our interpretations to become more important than our love? This is why it makes me sad. Is there not only one God and one Lord and one church? Or is it just a man made church that is right at the cost of loving others? |
