81 | What is the story of Luke's genology? | Matt 1:16 | TommyS | 110655
Taleb, about a year ago you said you did a name definition study of Luke. You said "the names translate into a story". What story do they tell? Thank you for reponding to this old topic. TommyS |

Thank you Taleb. Please don't go to any extra work. I looked quickly at Ex 23. Could you explain what you mean by the meanings of the names listed there explains WHY God didn't destroy them too quickly? Is it something besides what verse 29 states? TommyS |

83 | What is the story of Luke's genology? | Matt 1:16 | TommyS | 111875
Bless you, Taleb This is MORE than interesting. I wonder if Matthew's genealogy tells a different "story", seeing from David to Jesus it goes through a different "branch". Just imagine. It's a miracle in itself that all of Jesus' descendent's names came in that certain order to spell out what it does. Amazing!! Appreciate the time it took. TommyS |

84 | Why did Jesus MAKE John Baptize Him? | Matt 3:15 | TommyS | 102814
John's baptism was a "baptism of repentence" so why did Jesus "make" John baptize Him? Why did Jesus NEED for them to "fulfill all righteousness"?
85 | Why did Jesus MAKE John Baptize Him? | Matt 3:15 | TommyS | 102825
Hello, BradK I also saw it as "interesting" considering Jesus needed no purification. Now that you mentioned it, I recall another such instance. (Luke 2:22b-25) Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to Jerusalem to "present Him to the Lord, (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord") and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: "a pair of doves or two young pigeons". Wow, thank you sir! TommyS |

86 | Is Jesus "least" in kingdom of heaven? | Matt 11:11 | TommyS | 109769
Jesus declared that John the Babtist is the greatest AND He added "Yet the ONE who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he." (John the Baptist) Is Jesus saying that HE HIMSELF is the least in the kingdom of heaven, or is He speaking of some ONE else?
87 | Is Jesus "least" in kingdom of heaven? | Matt 11:11 | TommyS | 109780
Makarios, thank you responding so quickly. I'm sorry, if I seem dense - but You stated that you believe "that we can plainly see that John the Baptist is who Jesus is speaking of when He says, "Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he." [ESV] My question took that verse into complete consideration. Jesus IS speaking of John when He stated "there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist". I agree. BUT, how could Jesus also mean John who is the LEAST in the kingdom - IF, among those born of women there has arisn NO ONE GREATER than John the Baptist? I recongize that there is NO other name under heaven whereby we must saved. And Jesus' name is abouve all other names. And His shed blood, death and resurrection is vital for our salvation. Do you understand what I am trying to ask? Is John the Baptist BOTH the greatest born of women, AND the least in the kingdom of heaven? TommyS |

Emmaus, WOW. I think I understand what you mean. What you shared really makes sense to me. I'll dig into those two verses you shared. Thank you, sir! TommyS |

Makarios, you are confirming our brother in Christ, Emmaus. When I read that verse it was like - hey, wait a minute. I appreciate your going the extra mile with your second response. Thank you. TommyS |

90 | Did John the Baptist eat fruit or bugs? | Mark 1:6 | TommyS | 101100
Having visiting Palestine a few years ago, I tried the locust fruit. Reading in Mark todya i read, about John the Baptist eating locust and wild honey. Does anybody know if it the fruit, or "bugs"?
91 | Did John the Baptist eat fruit or bugs? | Mark 1:6 | TommyS | 101110
Thank you for taking the time to check out some verses for me. Even though the "Locust-Bugs" ARE kosher, ALL FRUIT is also. Anyway, the Palestian guy that was with us, pointed out the fruit, and mentioned it grows where John the Baptist ministered. Was just curious, even though "I still don't know" - I don't HAVE to know either if it really was bugs or fruit. :) In college, I tried canned grasshoppers dipped in chocolate, and can't say I enjoyed them - anymore than I "enjoyed" the fruit off a locust tree. Thanks again. TommyS |

92 | Christ comes in kingdom power at the End | Mark 9:1 | TommyS | 99162
Taleb, what do you mean when you say their is huge holes in that erroneous concept. What concept are you talking about? The 3 and a half years, or what? What's wrong with Darby's study Bible? I don't have one, but was just wondering. TommyS |

Hello, Taleb. Thank you for responding to my off the cuff questions. My church library has Clarks commentary. Thank you for taking the time to help me understand where you are coming from. If you don’t mind – what do you mean by Jesus OFTEN spoke allegorically? TommyS |

Tom, I never knew what you shared about the sabbath until recently. Did you know how the Greek word sabbaton is translated in the New Testament? Like that verse in John 19:31 that Candy Lee used - that Greek word is used twice. Once where it says it was the first day of the WEEK. The other when it talks about being a special sabbath. I just checked my strongs out for other places for "week" and it always used Sabbaton. Interesting. I wonder if that backs up what some have said about the sabbath MEANING ANY day of the week? Just a thought. TommyS |

95 | What's the difference between Kingdoms? | Luke | TommyS | 97326
What is the difference between "the kingdom of God" and the Kingdom of Heaven?" I remember (years ago) studying that there is a vast difference, , but I for the life of me can't remember what those differences are.

Thanks, DL5. I'll look at Luke 17 and go from there.
97 | What about the woman at the well in Jn 4 | John 4:18 | TommyS | 110026
What makes people say that the woman at the well in John 4 was "immoral?" I've heard the argument that because she went to the well alone means people wouldn't associate with her which means she was immoral. In any country I've been in where the woman have to go to the public water supply, they go all hours of the day - alone, together, young or old, they went WHEN they needed water. Rebecca went alone to the well in Gen 24, and she wasn't immoral. And, I've heard preachers claim that the woman kept trying to change the subject yet reading that section - she is the one which brought up "prophet" "worship" "the messiah". Am I missing something that should be obvious? |

98 | What about the woman at the well in Jn 4 | John 4:18 | TommyS | 110030
Thank you, KCPRAYS, for attempting to answer my question. You added, "Further, it was considered improper by the Jews for a rabbi to speak to a woman in public, whether she was immoral or not", YET it was Jesus who first spoke to her in asking her for a drink. The reason I asked this is because I noted that as soon as she returned to town to get others to come see if the messiah was at the well, and how quickly they believed her, led me to believe the town folk MUST have "trusted" her to be a "truthful" woman. I never heard of a "truthful" immoral person. I was only wondering if anyone else "felt" the same way. TommyS |

99 | What about the woman at the well in Jn 4 | John 4:18 | TommyS | 110034
Thank you Emmaus. You were correct - I DID find it interesting. Thank you for giving US ALL an opportunity for a better understanding of HIS mercy and grace and love. One thing that really stuck out to me in John 4 was how quickly so many from her village accepted our Lord as theirs. I appreciate your imput on SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many topics, whether mine or someone elses. Thanks "for returning yourself" to us. :) TommyS |

100 | What about the woman at the well in Jn 4 | John 4:18 | TommyS | 110038
Emmaus, pray tell, with all the times I have heard a sermon concerning the "woman at the well", HOW come I have never heard a message such as you just presented to the world? Thank you, Emmaus, for ONCE again going above and beyond the extra mile. I am truly grateful for the additional imput. IF I were a pastor, I know what the next six of so sermons would cover. :) That is a lot of meat. I am going to print that out and stick it in my Bible to munch on for awhile. Thanks for the "delicious" spiritual feast. TommyS |
