81 | People on other planets? | Bible general Archive 3 | Ocelot | 168940
Now I don’t want you to take any offense to this, but are you saying that all that universe out there is all for decoration? Not that that’s beyond God. But it just seems to me anyway, that God would be creating millions of inhabited worlds. I don’t really have any scripture to back that up though. Regarding your comment on how probable it is that there’s another planet inhabitable like Earth, probability wouldn’t be an issue where God is concerned. Not that I’m disagreeing with you. Oh well, this may be one of those “Questions for Heaven”. Ocelot |

82 | People on other planets? | Not Specified | Ocelot | 168935
Hello all. The reason for my question here is simply to try to get people’s thoughts on this. So here it is: I just found a website that has an “astronomy picture of the day”, and it got me thinking. Our sun has a quite a few planets orbiting it (we’re finding more all the time)and our galaxy is jam-packed full of stars like our sun. Then I see pictures where whole galaxies seem as proliferate as the stars. So here’s the question to ponder. Do you believe that there are other created beings on other planets? I guess my question is, looking at the size of God’s universe, do you believe it likely that there are countless unfallen worlds? Just a question. Colossians 1:20 “…and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.” Ephesians 3:10 “…so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.” Let me know what you think. 84 | Is God Sovereign in the Church today? | Rom 1:22 | Ocelot | 168524
Sorry about that JRM. I’m actually under the weather so to speak, so that will be my excuse for thinking that you addressed your post to Mark :-) My point wasn’t to prove the literal Genesis account (though that’s what I believe). My point was just to show that Evolutionists really don’t know what’s going on. The deeper they look, the more things they find that simply can’t be explained by chance. So why do “we” Christians feel as though we must answer to them? Why must our beliefs be reconciled with theirs, when they don’t truly know what they believe? It irritates me to think that there are theologians out there that have this overwhelming urge to make Darwinian evolution and the Bible fit together. They can’t do it, and they just come off looking like emotional weaklings who use religion as a crutch (which is what Evolutionists have accused Creationists of being all along). So in effect they “prove” the evolutionist point. It just bugs me. Thanks for correcting me. I’ll try not to write anymore while I’m sick. ;-) Ocelot |

In regards to the quote that you used from the letter, I believe that "the timeless truths of the Bible and the discoveries of modern science may comfortably coexist." Darwinian Evolution is not science. It has NEVER been observed. Sure there is such a thing as MICRO evolution, variations within kinds, but MACRO evolution has NEVER been observed. Ocelot |

Along these lines, here are some quotes from some NON-Christian Scientists "The scientist is possessed by the sense of universal causation...His religious feeling takes the form of rapturous amazement at the harmony of natural law, which reveals the intelligence of such superiority that, compared with it, systematic thinking and acting of human beings is an utterly insignificant reflection. - Albert Einstein (theoretical physicist) "The laws of science, as we know them at the present, contain many fundamental numbers, like the size of the electron charge of the electron and the ratio of the masses of the proton to the electron... The remarkable fact is that the values of these numbers seem to have been very finely adjusted to make possible the development for life." - Stephen Hawking “The exquisite order displayed by our scientific understanding of the physical world calls for the divine.” - Vera Kistiakowsky (physicist) And my personal favorite… "For the scientist who has lived his dream by faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries." - Robert Jastrow (astronomer and physicist) "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard." Psalm 19:1-3 Ocelot |

Dear Maearl What Doc has said is correct. I would also like to add something. God said, in Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” There is a Truth our there. And yes, there is error. Lots of it. But the promise of Jeremiah 29:13 is that you WILL find God. But the condition to that promise is that you must search with ALL your heart. In Revelation 3:20 Christ says “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.” There is an enemy out who would like nothing better than for you to become frustrated and give up. But like Doc said, the fact that this even concerns you is proof that the Holy Spirit is working in your heart. Don’t give up. You mentioned your sins. Jesus said "…It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners." Mark 2:17. I’ve done MANY things in my life that I hate. Many things that horrify me. But you and I are fortunate. Christ came to save people just like us. The apostle Paul, in his first letter to Timothy wrote “…Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all.” 1 Timothy 1:15 I’m sure you’ve done many things in your life that you regret. So have I. For that matter, so had Paul. But Christ’s blood can cover those sins. Don’t give up. I'll pray for you. With Christian Love Ocelot |

89 | 98 year old , partially blind, broke nec | 1 Sam 4:18 | Ocelot | 168237
Hello clbuckner, and welcome to the forum. The man you asked about was Eli. 1 Samuel 4:17, 18 “Then the one who brought the news replied, "Israel has fled before the Philistines and there has also been a great slaughter among the people, and your two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God has been taken." When he mentioned the ark of God, Eli fell off the seat backward beside the gate, and his neck was broken and he died, for he was old and heavy. Thus he judged Israel forty years.” Ocelot |

90 | did this woman know about jesus death? | Mark 14:8 | Ocelot | 168200
Hello stmichael, and welcome to the forum. My answer would be first, if Jesus said that that was what she was doing, then that’s what she was doing. He had been telling His disciples all along that His mission was not one of conquest, but one of sacrifice. But for some reason they just couldn’t seem to get it. It could be that this woman simply listened, and heard, the words the Jesus was saying. Matthew 20:18, 19 “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and will hand Him over to the Gentiles to mock and scourge and crucify Him, and on the third day He will be raised up." 91 | How do i treat this person? | Matt 5:44 | Ocelot | 168196
Hi Wings of Angels. What you are facing is not fun situation to be in. The Bible does address this sort of thing however. But it may not give the answer you want. Jesus said, in Matthew 5:43-48 "You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?...” Jesus tells us to love our enemies. This command goes against every fiber of our natural being. We can’t do it on our own. It requires an act of God. Fortunately, God never tells us to do something that He won’t give us the strength to do. So here’s some more advice from the Bible. Proverbs 25:21, 22 “If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; For you will heap burning coals on his (or her) head…” God asks us to love our enemies, He asks us to feed them when they’re hungry and give them water when they’re thirsty. How can He ask so much? When Christ was hanging on a cross He prayed "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing." So this would be my advice to you. First, pray, and ask God to give the strength to be loving when you don’t feel like it. Second, be kind to this person. It could be that through your kindness you might win this person to Christ when all the preaching in the world would never accomplish anything. Third, just because God asks us to forgive our enemies doesn’t mean that we have to become a doormat. Those are just some thoughts. I’ll pray for you. Ocelot |

Hi Touchdown Bubba, welcome to the forum. The Bible not only teaches that Christians should visit the sick, but Christ, in His parable of the Sheep and the Goats says that that is one of the defining characteristics of a saved person. Read Matthew 25:31-46. Ocelot |

Hello B. Santiago, welcome to the forum. Evil spirits, or demons or devils as they’re sometimes called are fallen angels who were once good. But they joined Satan in his rebellion against God. The Bible makes it plain that they are very real. See Revelation 16:14 Ocelot |

97 | how will i be known to others in heaven? | 1 Cor 15:53 | Ocelot | 167270
Hello kfoale. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:53, 54 “For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory.” The Bible says that we will “put on the imperishable” and “immortality”. It doesn’t say that we’ll be totally different people. I believe that we will look like ourselves, only we’ll look as God originally intended us to look. All of our imperfections will be gone. We’ll still be the same people, we’ll just be perfect. Those are my thoughts. Ocelot |

Here's one verse for you. Exodus 20:11 "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them…” The word for Lord here, is Y’Hova, or as we would pronounce it, Jehovah, the Self-Existent or Eternal One. It was Jehovah who created the Earth. Ocelot |
