81 | Is tithing a command for chriatians? | 2 Cor 9:7 | Val | 214866
Dear Beja, thank you for your willingness to discuss these scriptures. I have admired your explanations of parts of scriptures to the questioners in former discussions. Of course it is ok to disagree and not break fellowship on this particular topic. I would like to discuss it civilly and perhaps both of us could learn from the discussion. As to your comments on dispensational view point, I must say this leaves me personally with more confusion as I do not fully understand the label. Since it appears you have a bone to pick with them I would suggest you find one of the best ones you can and have a go with them. Rather than trying to label each person as to their answers seems like an unnecessary endeavor. Anyway, enough on that could we just stick to the scriptures and discuss them and leave the labels out of it and just maybe I can follow your thoughts. Thanking you in advance for that consideration. I am in full support of the nation of Israel and the danger I see in interpretations that say that God is through with Israel is upsetting for a variety of reasons. Some of them though not exhaustive for myself personally is the prophecies which direct a future plan for Israel as a nation, secondly, God Himself somewhere said that Israel is the apple of His eye, Thirdly, we are told that God Himself will judge nations as to how they treat Israel. He did this in ancient times and I believe personally He will do it again. Fourthly, the covenant God made with Abraham is a promise that includes a land. This covenant is described as an everlasting covenant. Fifthly, the church is under the New covenant. This is a completely separate covenant, one which any person of any nation is under if they place their belief in Messiah Jesus. Sixthly, the promise God made with Israel/Jacob is one that He made with them not because of anything extraordinary in them but because of His name. Even though they rejected Messiah as a nation, He will keep His promise/covenant for His name. Seventhly, context is the first rule of interpretation, therefore, if God is dealing with the nation Israel and this is an example for people of all nations what is it that God wants us to know. I would say he wants us to love and worship Him as God, creator of heaven and earth, and not worship any other false god. Obedience to His commands which is what He required of his nation Israel is what He requires of us. Eighthly, many people who hold to a future for the nation of Israel view your interpretation that God is through with Israel dangerous because if your wrong then we may treat Israel in a way not according to God’s plan, i.e., making them give away their land, which God has given them. This would bring judgment to those who make them do this. Living in this land and fearing God’s wrath is the reason it is a dangerous view in my personal opinion according to the verses referring to the land. Ninthly, the view that Paul is seeing Israel and the church as two distinct things; yes he does. The Ephesians book explains the mystery of the church; jew and gentile in one body. He is speaking of individuals which make up the church not nations. Tenthly, the book of Galatians explains what genuine faith is and how it is obtained. Abraham was a man of faith and this is explained. It has always been by grace through faith. It is by grace, a gift, something that God did by providing His Son Jesus as the sacrifice for our sins and raised Him up the third day showing His satisfaction with the perfect sacrifice of Jesus the Lamb of God. Faith is how we obtain this gift and Paul shows Abrahams faith in his obedience to God by taking his son to the mountain and offering him there believing the promise of God making him a great nation and to do that God would raise Isaac from the dead if need be. So those who had a faith like Abraham are the true Israel. We know God has always had a believing remnant and not all who are in the nation of Israel had true faith, i.e. those whom God destroyed in the wilderness for their unbelief. I will look at Philippians 3:3 later. If you would like to pursue each scripture individually that is what I am best at. I have given you the big picture of my interpretations of my studying. We can look at each point you stand on in scripture and discuss it. That is the only way I know how to study the bible. Your sister in Christ - Val |

82 | Is tithing a command for chriatians? | 2 Cor 9:7 | Val | 214854
Dear Beja, there is an inhouse debate in christendom as to this topic. To declare that you have it right because you have read the scriptures thoroughly is a rather bold statement. Many including myself believe that your interpretation is a dangerous one. You reference that Paul teaches this. May I ask you to explain this statement with appropriate verses and your comments. Sincerely, Val

88 | Moabites forbidden and Ruth allowed?? | Deut 23:3 | Val | 214581
Ruth was an exceptional woman. If you read the book of Ruth you will see this in the way she took care of her mother in law. Her mother in law was in a very bad mood after her sons died. It was Ruth who kept the family together. Boaz was the lucky one. He was a lot older than Ruth. Boaz praised Ruth for her behavior in not running after young men. Once Ruth and her mother in law returned to the homeland Ruth was the one who went out and searched for food. They were dirt poor. Ruth took instructions from her mother in law and did everything she told her. Boaz took note of this and being the kinsman redeemer he is an example of how Christ Jesus is the kinsman redeemer also for the Gentiles. Because a gentile is in the line of Christ. 89 | baptism | Matt 28:19 | Val | 214570
Dear Raymie, I disagree with your conclusion that the soul sleeps until the resurrection from the dead. First of all who is it that Christ brings with Him when He comes back at the second advent. It is those who are In Him. Secondly, how do you explain the Mount of Transfiguration in which Moses and Elijah met and talked with Christ Jesus. Third, why does the Apostle Paul who was called to be an Apostle by God preach that it is better for him to go on to heaven but it is better for those whom he serves if he stayed on earth. Fourth, why does David say of his son who died that his son could not come back to him but that he David could go to his son. Its a stretch to say they were looking forward to sleeping for thousands of years. You discount what the churches teach, what denomination do you affiliate with? Sincerely, Val |

90 | can Satan plant thoughts into our minds? | 1 Pet 5:8 | Val | 214333
Hi Brother John, I was careful in answering the question. I have dealt with this question before and spent the time looking studying it. Thank you for your concern. A word study of Satan, one of the mind/heart and others of course can be done by anyone wanting to pursue the topic. I believe the verse I quoted speaks for itself and anyone can study it for themselves. Thank you for your concern. Have a great day. God Bless. Val

Dear John, Thats interesting since his website says it holds to the doctrinal statement of the Dallas Theological Seminary where Dr. McGee obtained some of his education. I have never heard him say that and I listened to him for about 20 years. I would like to know the context of the passage he was discussing when he said that. I have his volumne of the whole bible commentaries. I know there are the tulip points. I wonder if he held to the five points. Many people agree with three points. I don't know if people call them calvinists. I know many people hold to the sovereignty of God but do not label themselves calvinists. Just wondering. Thanks, Val

96 | Rapture | Rev 20:1 | Val | 214115
Dear Beja, We can lovingly discuss why some people look forward to a rapture by understanding the scriptures that provide that foundation. A commentary at Preceptaustin that uses scripture to address the “first resurrection” is provided by Dr. Grant Richison. "This is the first resurrection". The New Testament uses the word “resurrection” 40 times. It always refers to physical, bodily resurrection except in Luke 2:34. The “first resurrection” is not the first chronological resurrection because Christ was the first to rise from the dead. “Many” rose from the dead when Christ rose (Matthew 27:52-53). The “first” resurrection is in contrast to the “last” resurrection (20:12-13). The word “first” carries the idea of “before.” All the righteous dead are raised before the resurrection of the wicked dead at the end of the 1000 years. The resurrection of the righteous comes in phases (1 Corinthians 15:23). Christ rose first, then the “many,” then the church, then the Tribulation saints and finally the Old Testament saints (Isaiah 26:19-21; Ezekiel 37:12-14; Daniel 12:2-3). – Dr. Grant C. Richison. For a complete reading go to Preceptaustin.org and follow the link from Revelation to Dr. Richison. Sincerely, Val |

99 | Can one pray after his/her death? | 1 John 3:2 | Val | 214083
Dear Bibleman, thank you for the passage. When looking at this topic; praying to someone outside of the true God we can see from this scripture that this would be displeasing to the true God. Is 42:8 "I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images. We see an example of this from the passage you supplied. These prohets of Baal were put to death. This was divine judgment from the true God. It is a dangerous thing to put anyone or anything in the place of the true God. 1 Kin 18:40 Then Elijah said to them, "Seize the prophets of Baal; do not let one of them escape." So they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there. Notice how many of them died that day. 1 Kin 18:22 Then Elijah said to the people, "I alone am left a prophet of the LORD, but Baal's prophets are 450 men. Sincerely, Val |

100 | Why call Christ "Lamb" in Rev 6:16 | Rev 6:16 | Val | 214081
Dear Kent, Using this verse I looked at the cross references for it and this verse was provided Phil 2:10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, Phil 2:11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. I believe this verse refers to the time that everyone will give Christ the respect He deserves. I seem to remember that this does not mean that everyone is saved but that there will come a time when everyone will acknowledge Him for who He is. Sincerely, Val |
