87 | Are you refering to the thief ? | Matt 10:1 | Grace and Truth | 54040
So his sins were not punished according to divine justice? You ask a question about the thief's punishment, 1. He was hangging on a cross for what he had done in his life, by the romans. Jesus's blood was being shed at that moment, when he forgave the thief. Matt 9:6 "But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive SINS! Is what I refered to. "you are saying that the thief on the cross was forgiven without any atonement being made for his acts of rebellion against an infinitely holy God. "You are saying that God, who is perfectly just, whose eyes are too pure to look on evil (Habakkuk 1:13), simply shrugged his shoulders and said "Okay, you are forgiven; no sacrifice necessary." These are your words not mine! |

3. Grew and was unfruitful. Possibly a believer. Either this person is in or out, there is no middle ground. If in, Jesus said this person is now lost forever. true or false? This make faith only impossible, because you don't know the hearts of men, and I know you to have seen folks start out strong in the Lord, witnessing and preaching and everything, then something happens to them and they fall away. Is this true from your experience? I have seen some come back to the Lord to. |

100 | Can they all be right? | Matt 24:11 | Grace and Truth | 53749
The text above is a very important text, because it gives a warning about false teachers and their deeds. The thing that concerns me most, is that people are not aware of what false teaching is. It's like this country we live in, it's diverse with many differences. We are told, that it's okay! We need to be more tolerent toward those who are different from us, culturally, religiously, sexually etc.. But in matters of doctrine and what the Bible teaches can we afford to go through life as if it doesn't matter to God? Some how many believe that men can go to whatever church they want, and believe only what they think they understand to be the gospel (faith only) and make it to heaven. If this idea was true, why would Jesus warn us about false teachers and prophets, and their misleading of many souls? What exactly is the misleading? What will men say? How would they mislead people? Who's behind them backing up their words? I notice how many different groups are on this forum, and everbody claims to have the truth, no matter what group their in. And yet the bible warns us of false teaches and prophets! The word false or falsehood is in the bible 94 times, 32 of them in the new testament. Is anybody aware of this? We know about those who don't claim the name of Jesus Christ. But what about those false teaches and falseprophets who use the name of Jesus Christ to advance there faith or beliefs? We have people who believe in hearing the gospel, believing it, repenting of their sins, confessing the name of Jesus Christ, and being baptized for the remission of one's sins. (Church of Christ Rom.16:16) We have those who believe we are saved by (faith only) who make up most of the Protestant faith. We have those of the Catholic faith. Lutherans, Episcopalians, Prebyterians, Congregationals, Baptist, Methodist, Latter Day Saints (Mormons), Adventists, Christian Scientist, Jehovah's Witnesses. All claim to have the truth. Can they all be right? Is this confusion? Is God the author of all these? Is this what Jesus was talking about in Matt 24:11? Does anyone even care about the subject of false teachers and prophets? Or are we all going to heaven anyway. We have those of the Catholic faith. |
