If I answer 'yes or no' the thief did not know about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and that's something people today must know! So the real question is does it matter what the thief recieved or did not recieve? The bible doesn't say weather or not he was baptized! |

What you must understand is there is no history of the thief on the cross, that's why I used the "yes or no" and for you to assume for me you are the one adding to God's word, and if you go back and read my statement you will note that I said "it doesn't matter what the thief did" but it matters what we are to do and that's hear the gospel of Jesus Christ, and believe and obey it! 2nd Samuel 22! |

5 | Mark 16:16 what does it say? | Bible general Archive 1 | Grace and Truth | 50765
"Scripture clearly commands Christians to do so" You state that scripture clearly commands christians to do so! If one is commanded to do what the Lord said, is it no for his/her salvation? Your belief is we are saved by grace alone through faith! What about Hope,Rom 8:24; 1Peter3:19-21 water, baptism. |

This is the point I have been trying to make with others, they always ask what about the thief on the cross? The fact is Jesus was not dead when he forgave the thief. Heb.9:15-17 after you read this you will understand that the thief did not have the chance you and I have because the new testament was not in forced when Jesus spoke to the thief, so when you refer to the thief's being saved by Jesus is because the "Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins" Matt 9:6, but everybody after the resurrection must obey Mark 16:16!

Eph 2:8-9 Let's look at the text here, the word faith in the text, you believe that it's talking about belief? The faith in this text refer to the gospel and not your belief! "For by grace are ye saved through the faith (the gospel): and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God" This is how the text reads. The gospel is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, match that with Romans 6:3-4 baptism is the same responce, we are dead because of sin, we are buried, and we are raised up out of the watery grave of baptism to walk in the newness of life "all through faith in Jesus Christ" that's what the bible teaches! You mentioned 1Peter 3:19-21 We know Peter was not talking about taking a bath, he explained how baptism works God's salvation through faith when one is baptized, it clear one's conscience, baptism doth ALSO NOW SAVE US! WHO'S THE US IN THE TEXT? EVERYONE WHO SUBMITS TO BAPTISM, IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IT SAVES (NOW) YOU DON'T BELIEVE GOD'S WORD! (NO IT'S NOT A BATH) IT'S IN THE GOSPEL, PETER, PHILIP,PAUL AND JESUS PREACH IT, HOW ABOUT YOU!
9 | "need" for baptiam | Bible general Archive 1 | Grace and Truth | 50986
Look again at the word faith in Eph 2:8-9 it's refering to the gospel not your belief! Then take Vine's and look at 1Peter 3:19-21, and I know its not talking about taking a bath! (LOL).

My dear friend Joe, You are not and never will be the authority on what the bible teaches, before someone taught you to ignore what the Lord told you to do in Mark 16:16, did you believe like you do now? Every time you read that text, do you read it with contempt? It will still say " HE THAT BELIEVETH AND IS BAPTIZED SHALL BE (SAVED) HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT SHALL BE CONDEMED". |

My friend 2nd Samuel 22, agree to disagree is not the answer: For you and other who don't believe what Jesus in Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved: But he that believeth not shall be damned. will still read the same way even when were gone! Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Will you also take this verse and say it doesn't mean what it says? Paul understood the he was told to do, he was told to be baptized, and wash away his sins. Did Ananias lie to him about baptism? Why didn,t Paul correct Ananias, and tell him that baptism has nothing to do with his salvation, it's just an outward showing of an inward thing! Paul knew what it was about and he submitted to it. |

12 | Mark 16:16 what does it say? | Bible general Archive 1 | Grace and Truth | 51012
My friend Tim Moran, You have now made one step closer to the truth in you statement: "Concerning 1 Pe. 3:19-21, I agree with you that baptism is a type " 1Peter 3:19-21 Shows us where baptism works, by faith on our conscience! again it's not a bath, we are to submit to it by faith in Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, as in Acts 2:38;22:16 " to wash away our sins" That's what God commanded, through Jesus Christ! |

2) "Yes they could have, just as we can refuse to obey any of God's commands as Christians. But, why would they, or we, want to disobey Christ?" When you teach, do you teach Mark 16:16? I would just like to take the time and deal with your number 2 answer: Was Mark 16:16 written for believers or nonbelievers? Jesus commissioned the apostles to GO preach to nonbelievers or believers? So the nonbeliever who believes and is baptized shall be saved! "4) Because baptism is commanded by Christ for believers, Peter also commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus." The aorist participle 'never' indicates action which is subsequent to the main verb, neither believing nor being baptized occurs after one is saved: But both occur Before one is saved. Can you show in the book of Acts where someone was converted and was not baptized? Acts 10 is when God open the door to the Lord's church to the Gentiles, Acts 11:18. This showed that the gospel was preached to the gentile also, and that the jews had to accept them. Being baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, in water is what put them in Christ. Gal 3:26,27. When the gospel was preached in the book of Acts all who recieved it were baptized for the remission of sins Acts 2:38;22:16. |

14 | Mark 16:16 what does it say? | Bible general Archive 1 | Grace and Truth | 51137
You said in your answer that Christians "get into Christ" "by faith". But vs27 says "For as many of you as have been BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST have PUT ON CHRIST you can't change that! It clearly says the Galatians were BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST! UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM SAYING HERE TO YOU AND ALL THAT WILL READ THIS INFORMATION. ALL OF THIS IS DONE THROUGH "FAITH" ROMANS 10:17 WE GET FAITH BY HEARING; THROUGH FAITH WE REPENT;LUKE 13:3 THROUGH FAITH WE CONFESS THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST;MATT 10:32 THROUGH FAITH WE ARE BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST!!! GAL 3:27 WE WALK IN THE NEWNESS OF LIFE UNTIL DEATH.ROM 6:3-5 Your statement is wrong! "4. We are sons and heirs according to the PROMISE God made to Abraham. Abraham was declared rightous for believing God. The Israelites were declared rightous not by following the Law of Moses, but by believing God. No other conditions were added to the Abrahamic Covenant. Therefore, the elect of Israel "got into Christ" by faith in God's redemption, and the Law was not another condition. Christians "get into Christ" by faith, NOT works, and baptism and the Lord's Supper are not conditions or means to becoming part of the Abrahamic Covenant". Paul knew who he was talking to, they did not have a problem with baptism, they had a problem with the Jewish believers teaching that salvation came through the Law of Moses. Two things you are in error about! 1. We are NOT under any Abrahamic Covenant, We are under the Covenant of Jesus Christ Only! Heb8:13;9:14-17. 2. vs27 says WE GET INTO CHRIST BY BEING BAPTIZED INTO HIM, AND WE PUT HIM ON ALSO! You will not understand Gal.3:15-17 if you will not read it to the end of the chapter! Acts 22:16 Paul was told to arise, and be baptized, and wash away his sins calling on the name of the Lord. Did Luke make a mistake here when he connected baptism with washing away Paul's sins? COL2:13 GOD OPERATES ON THOSE WHO SUBMIT TO BAPTISM. BAPTISM IS CONNECTED WITH SALVATION BY WHO? GOD, CHRIST, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT!!! Remember I am not the one who wrote this in God's word, the Holy Spirit gave it to the apostles and others! Jesus said in John 12:48-50 HE THAT REJECTETH ME, AND RECIEVETH NOT MY "WORD" HATH ONE THAT JUDGETH HIM: THE WORD THAT I HAVE SPOKEN, THE SAME SHALL JUDGE HIM IN THE LAST DAY. FOR I HAVE NOT SPOKEN OF MYSELF; BUT THE FATHER WHICH SENT ME, HE GAVE ME A "COMMANDMENT", WHAT I SHOULD SAY, AND WHAT I SHOULD SPEAK. AND I KNOW THAT HIS "COMMANDMENT IS LIFE EVERLASTING:" WHATSOEVER I SPEAK THEREFORE, EVEN AS THE FATHER SAID UNTO ME, SO I SPEAK!!!! MARK 16:16 HE THAT BELIEVETH AND IS BAPTIZED SHALL BE SAVED; BUT HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT SHALL BE DAMNED. |

AGAIN, DON'T MISUNDERSTAND ME, I HAVE NOT SAID AND WILL NEVER SAY THAT BAPTISM ALONE SAVES ANYONE! I HAVE TAUGHT AND HAVE BEEN TAUGHT THAT ALL OF WHAT WE DO IN CHRIST IS (THROUGH "FAITH") AND THAT'S WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES!! YOU AND THOSE WHO BELIEVE LIKE YOU REFER TO THE THIEF! FOR A CLEARER UNDERSTANDING, SHOW US WHAT THE APOSTLES TOLD THE PEOPLE AFTER THE RESURRECTION, THE LAW OF CHRIST WAS NOT IN AFFECT UNTIL AFTER THE RESURRECTION! HEB9:16-17 FOR WHERE A TESTAMENT IS, THERE MUST ALSO OF "NECESSITY" BE THE DEATH OF THE TESTATOR. 17 FOR A TESTAMENT IS OF FORCE "AFTER" MEN ARE (DEAD): OTHERWISE (IT IS OF NO STRENGTH AT "ALL" WHILE THE TESTATOR LIVETH). Now what is the writer saying HERE? That the thief recieved his blessing before the LAW OF CHRIST WAS IN FORCE! So when you are remembering the thief, remember also the TESTATOR JESUS CHRIST HAD NOT DIED FOR OUR SINS WHEN HE BLESSED THE THIEF; AND HE HAD NOT YET BEEN RAISED FROM THE DEAD: HIS LAW TO THOSE WHO WOULD LIVE AFTER HIS RESURRECTION WAS NOT IN AFFECT UNTIL HE WENT BACK TO HEAVEN!!!! |

"I know many people who are "completely saved" by their faith in Jesus Christ who have yet to enter the waters of baptism for one reason or another. I KNOW that I will see them in heaven whether or not they have been immersed before their physical death or the Rapture of the church". IS THAT RIGHT, SHOW US IN THE BOOK OF ACTS WHERE SOMEONE WENT MORE THAN ONE HOUR AFTER BELIEVING THE WORD, AND WAS NOT BAPTIZED! JUST ONE PERSON! HEB 9:15-17 IS WHEN THE LAW OF CHRIST WAS IN AFFECT. |
