61 | 1 Corinthians 2 | 1 Thess 5:23 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67727
It is not the spirit or soul that DOES anything for us rather it is God who gives the spirit and is Maker of the Spirit that gives us Eternal life if we so choose to accept the Gift...just as you were given a body of flesh, you were also given life (spirit/soul) It is hard to describe a spirit or soul just as it is hard to describe God...all we know from Scripture is that God gave us life and God is the Judge of whether or not we inherit eternal Life...As a visual, I imagine God as this huge Spiritual Entity (like a ball of light) that breathed a part of Himself...a smidgen, a whisper of Himself into our fleshly bodies (vessels) so that we can say as He does "I am"...without a spirit would you know that "you are"? Does a cat know that it is? Sure, but not on our level...does a plant? Probably not but because it has no spirit...This requires much thinking and searching but is an intriguing topic...Hope I didn't confuse you more!
62 | What are the qualification for an elder | Titus 1:5 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67733
I think that an elder is someone who is either older than you (usually older is wiser but not always) or someone in authority or someone more versed in the Bible...I consider anyone who is wiser than me whether spiritually or earthly to be an elder of mine...but search the Scripture about the order of things...meaning who comes first the elder or the younger and why or how that happens...just stay humble always no matter how old or young you are!
63 | What are the qualification for an elder | Titus 1:5 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67734
Authority by wisdom whether through age or searched out knowledge! Your mother, your father, anyone older (but not older yet dumber) than you, those in authority like cops, judges, government, pastors, priests, teachers....but remember that discernment is necessary to know which elders to follow and which to not follow...even the Antichrist will come as an authority figure and look at the elders like the Saduccees and Pharasies in the Bible who led many astray...It doesn't matter how old or young you are spirually or worldly just pray for discernment!
64 | JESUS GREW IN WISDOM | Heb 5:8 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67061
I think that basically means he grew up in the human sense...yes he was God incarnate...he had to grow because he was in the flesh...I don't think he became to know who he was until he asked Mary why she was looking for him...He said don't you know I'm doing my Father's work?...something to that effect...anyway, I think, as a child and up till then he was just a child in His own mind...remember He is our example...we are all Sons of God...and are to grow in wisdom and stature, right?!
65 | Where do we go with burdens? | James 1:5 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67059
Amen brother! | ||||||
66 | Free will for angels | 2 Pet 2:4 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67728
As far as my understanding, angels were perfect creations...created as servants of God, messengers of God, in the image of God....We humans have to choose all that and believe that all that is true for us...My only problem is that Satan himself was an angel who fell from Grace which could indicate that he made a bad choice...but Satan desired to be bigger than God...so it wasn't so much that he turned away from God by choice rather God, in His anger, allows Satan opportunity to try and be bigger by winning us over. It is in that very battle that we are tested....choosing either God or Satan...our freewill! Did that make any sense?
67 | Can a born again sin as they did before? | 1 John 1:8 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67713
I think once your "born again" you're always "born again" regardless of if you stumble...However, only those who are sincere of heart in their commitment to God...and only God knows the heart...are those that struggle to be as sinless as possible due to their love and faith in Jesus Christ...there is only one sin that cannot be forgiven and that is to deny or "blasphemy" God once you make the commitment to become "reborn". ..to deny Him...that is merely my own understanding, but you should search the Scriptures for yourself.
68 | Immaculate Conception, mary, how? | 1 John 1:8 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67729
By God...that is how...it is called a miracle...anything is possible with God...immaculate conception is no exception! Have faith!
69 | Can a born again sin as they did before? | 1 John 1:8 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67869
Notice that I said "stumble"....I didn't say kill someone and I did not mean that...What I meant was that when you become born again you will not be perfect. God will still need to work on you. Philippians 3:18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: I suggest that you read the rest of that chapter or the whole book and also consider the Apostle Judas Iscariot...he sat at the Last Supper with Jesus yet he betrayed Jesus into the hands of His crucifiers...Please let me know if you need scripture reference on that or anything! |

Well...Hank, we do agree on some things...thanks for clearing that up!
71 | Can a born again sin as they did before? | 1 John 1:8 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67872
Johnny, You still are a fleshly human being...you are still tempted and have to be in the world after being saved...After being reborn, you will have more of a tendency to be offended by what is evil or against God and have more of a drive to live the right way and to be a servant of God...However, you can still fall and if you never repent (especially after knowing God) you will be condemned...I will find you more Scripture for this if you'd like!? 72 | Can a born again sin as they did before? | 1 John 1:8 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67876
BradK, I would explain what I meant about "falling" and "if you never repent"...but really what you want is not my explanation but Scripture...so, by tommorrow I will do that....I'm wondering...did you notice that I also said to Johnny that I would find him more Scripture on the subject or did you miss that part? Listen please, and hopefully many will read this...I am not one of those people who can just spout out chapters and verses...I have been in the Bible for years but, I guess, I'm not good with remembering numbers but moreso I remember the story in the passage or the lesson or the understading I got from it...I read it everyday at work and, sometimes at home...coworkers think I'm a religious fanatic...I don't care what they think or anyone else...but I hate that I cannot speak about my understanding or my theories about the Bible with fellow Christians...in order to learn something you have to come to conclusions about it, you get a theory about it, you search to proove to yourself-first- that you are correct...we are all on different spirtual paths...I work everyday and get up at 4AM...I have already spent a couple hours in this forum trying to further defend myself...I'd like to spend time with my son, but I will give you chapters and verses as soon as possible...Under different circumstances I would've answered you differently...I would have tried to explain myself...but as I said, that's not what you want. 73 | Why does scroll turn from sweet to sour? | Rev 10:9 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67730
My opinion is that when you eat (read) the Bible it is sweet at first...but when you get deeper into digestion (understanding) you see the Truth about yourself and it is not always easy to face the truth...Sometimes the truth hurts and therefore is bitter....Make any sense?!
