61 | In the name? vs In the Titles? | Acts 2:38 | punkiedo | 113145
Ok then why over and over in acts does it say be baptized in Jesus name? And being arrested in the name of the law, still that tells me in what name I am being arrested. Further more baptism is a deed right? Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Jesus said that. Here are some more. There is no record of anyone being baptized any other way. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. **Now he just said to be baptized in Jesus name so in verse 41 what name do you honestly think they were baptized in? RIGHT after this discussion.** Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Acts 8:13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Acts 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) **This scripture tells me 2 things. 1 that it is not enough to believe and be baptized there is more. The Holy Ghost the joy that comes with it. That is it. 2 Baptism in Jesus name was always a Prerequisite to the infilling of the Holy Ghost. And in Acts how did they know they had received the Holy Ghost? They heard them speak with tongues. We have a lady in our church that use to be in a specific denomination, and they didn't believe in the Holy Ghost or baptism in Jesus name. And she told God she said "I don't understand is this all that you have? What about the joy and peace? I want that." And God led her to a Pentecostal Church Praise God! And when she got filled with the Holy Ghost like the bible says speaking in tongues and we re baptized her, because she had been baptized in the "Titles" she came out of the water and all she could do was cry and say "this is real this is real I feel a difference." I can believe on Jesus all day, but that is not what will save me in the end. James 2:19-20 Since the devils believe are they saved? but that's a different discussion for another time. (just a thought)** Acts 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Acts 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Acts 19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Acts 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. |

62 | Isaiah 9:6-7 Coincidence or Prophecy? | Is 9:6 | punkiedo | 113091
Some see a sharp separation between the one God who is the Father and the one Lord who is Jesus Christ. We must remember that the Holy Spirit has put a cloak of mystery over the identity of the Father and the Son. True enough there is only one God and there is only one Lord. Now let us look and see who the apostles of the New Testament Church believed they were. John 20:27-28.Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, MY LORD AND MY GOD. All the apostles were gathered together when Thomas proclaimed Yahshua was both his Lord and his God. This was the truth that was plainly revealed to the apostles. So for those who have ears to hear there is one God and that is Yahshua and also there is one Lord who is also Yahshua. For the Lord our God IS ONE. Revelation 22:3-5.And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. Notice that the throne of God and the Lamb IS SINGULAR. Also his servants shall serve him not them. They shall see HIS FACE, NOT THEIR FACES. And HIS NAME, NOT THEIR NAMES shall be in their foreheads. It is called the throne of God and of the Lamb. We know the Lamb is Yahshua. Who is the Lord God that giveth them light? Thomas answered and said unto him, (Yahshua) MY LORD AND MY GOD. So the throne of God is occupied by ONE who is BOTH God and the Lamb. Ephesians 5:8.For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: If Christians are the children of light then the light is their father. WHO IS THE LIGHT? John 12:44-46.Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. Yahshua is the light. We are the children of light. Conclusion? Yahshua is our Father. 1 John 2:28-29.And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness IS BORN OF HIM. Are we not to abide in Yahshua? Are we not to be ready for HIS COMING? John is plainly writing about Him. He says we are (born of him). If we are born of him we are his children and he is our Father. John 14:6-9.Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me hknow the Father apart from Yahshua. Many people today seek the same thing Philip sought. But Yahshua's answer was "have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me?" He says if you have seen me YOU HAVE SEEN THE FATHER! ath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Early in our study Yahshua said no man can know who the Father is unless the Son reveals it to them. Here the apostle Philip wanted to know the Father apart from Yahshua. Many people today seek the same thing Philip sought. But Yahshua's answer was "have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me?" He says if you have seen me YOU HAVE SEEN THE FATHER! Honestly friend, if you were there that day what would you have thought? Again a reminder this truth is hidden from some. To others it is revealed. If you can see the same thing Philip saw that day it is because of divine revelation. The Son has revealed the Father to you. |

63 | Isaiah 9:6-7 Coincidence or Prophecy? | Is 9:6 | punkiedo | 113089
1 Timothy 1:17.Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen Here we see Paul believed in one who was the ONLY WISE GOD. He is the King eternal who is immortal. Now let us see who Paul believed was the only true God. 1 Timothy 6:14-16.That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortalilty, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen If Yahshua is indeed the King eternal (Kings of kings) he is the only wise God. If Yahshua is indeed immortal he is the only true God, for he ONLY has immortality. Revelation 22:6.And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. Who did John believe was the LORD GOD of the holy prophets? Revelation 22:16.I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. So again Yahshua impresses upon the apostle John he is both our Lord and God. Malachi 2:10.Have we not all one father? Hath not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers? The one God would have always been God if he had never created anything. But he also became the father of all things by the miracle of creation. So if there is only one God and Yahshua is the MIGHTY GOD there can be no other. If we all have but one father and Yahshua is the EVERLASTING FATHER then he alone is God the Father! It is my earnest desire through this study many will see there is only one God who is the Father of the universe and that Yahshua is himself God. 1 John 4:12.No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 1 Timothy 6:16.Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen Several places in the word of God we are told God has never been seen. Isaiah 6:1-5. In the year that King Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne high and lifted up and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims, each one had six wings, with twain he covered his face and with twain he covered his feet and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another and said Holy Holy Holy is the Lord of Hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house with filled with smoke. Then said I Woe is me! For I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips for mine eyes have seen THE KING THE LORD OF HOSTS. So the question must be asked who or what did Isaiah and various others see when they proclaimed they had seen God? In the revelation of this mystery we will discover a truth that will honor Yahshua to the highest place in the universe. 1 Kings 8:27.But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded? Solomon recognized that in his essence as omnipresent spirit God was bigger than the universe he had created. Before creation he dwelt alone in indescribable power and glory with himself. Since he never had a beginning he had an eternity to plan the creation of the universe. Since he as omnipresent spirit would be bigger than creation itself he desired to find a way to come inside what he would make and be part of it. John 1:1-3.In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. Before the beginning God had no need of a form. He was omnipresent spirit dwelling alone so there was no one else to have seen him. But since he desired to be seen in his creation it was necessary for him to create a visible manifestation of himself. This form or visible manifestation would be everything that he himself was except in reduced, visible form. This was not another person who was God but God himself dwelling in the visible form. This form he took would be the same form as the angels who would be the first of his living creation. That way when they were created he would be sitting there on his throne and would explain to them who they were and what he was. So they would not be seeing him as omnipresent spirit, they would be seeing him in angelic form as the image of the invisible God. |

64 | Isaiah 9:6-7 Coincidence or Prophecy? | Is 9:6 | punkiedo | 113088
You asked for it honey: Deuteronomy 6:4-5.Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Deuteronomy 32:3-6 and verse 18.Because I will publish the name of the Lord: ascribe ye greatness unto our God. He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation. Do ye thus requite the Lord, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy FATHER that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee? Verse 18.Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee. Moses refers to God as the Rock. He says plainly the Rock is their father in verse 6. Since he is the one in verse 18 who has begotten them again he confirms the Rock is their father. Psalms 89:26.He shall cry unto me, thou art my father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation. Here we are shown by God himself how he was addressed by David. My FATHER, My GOD, and the ROCK of my salvation. 1 Corinthians 10:1-4.Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea: And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that ROCK WAS CHRIST. Isaiah 43:10-11.Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour. God is emphatic that he is the only saviour. John 4:42.And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world. We gather from these several verses that God alone is the saviour. Yet the people said Christ was the Saviour of the world. No doubt Christ is God coming as the saviour of his people. Isaiah 44:6.Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts, I am the first, and I am the last; and BESIDE ME THERE IS NO GOD. The same one who says he is the first and the last says, there is no God beside him. He did not know anything about a multi-person godhead. He said I am God and no one else. Revelation 2:8.And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; Yahshua is the one who died and rose again. He claims to be the one who is the only God period. If there is no god except the first and the last nobody else can be God except Yahshua. Many believe Yahshua is merely the second of three persons who are God. They would have him as the one in the middle. Yet he says he is both the first and the last. So if God the father is the first person then Yahshua is God the father. If the Holy Ghost is the third (last) person then Yahshua is the Holy Ghost, because he is the first and last. Isaiah 9:6-7.For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. All Christians agree this is a prophecy of the coming of Christ into the world as the Saviour and ruler. It indicates that this son who is given unto us as Saviour and ruler is in reality the one true God himself. His name shall be called MIGHTY GOD-EVERLASTING FATHER put very plainly God the Father. The Christ is both the child who was born and the everlasting Father! So the mystery of Christ is that he is both the Father and the Son. 1 Timothy 3:16.And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. So my friends when was God manifest in the flesh? Was it not when Yahshua was born the Son of God? That was the fulfillment of the MIGHTY GOD-EVERLASTING FATHER coming in the flesh. |

How could the church belong to Jesus (Matthew 16:18) and yet be the church of God (I Corinthians 10:32)? Because Jesus is God in the flesh. 34. Will God give His glory to another? No. Isaiah 42:8. 35. Was there a God formed before Jehovah, or will there be one formed after? No. Isaiah 43:10. 36. What is one thing that God does not know? Another God. Isaiah 44:8. 37. What is one thing that God Cannot do? Lie. Titus 1:2. 38. How many Gods should we know? Only one. Hosea 13:4. 39. How many names has the Lord? One. Zechariah 14:9. 40. Is it good to think upon the name of the Lord? Yes. Malachi 3:16. 41. Does the Bible say that God alone treads upon the waves of the sea? Yes. Job 9:8 42. Why, then, was Jesus able to walk upon the Sea of Galilee (Matthew 14:25)? Because He is God the Creator. Colossians 1:16. 43. Is God the only one who can forgive sin? Yes. Isiah 43:25; Mark 2:7. 44. Why, then, could Jesus forgive sin in Mark 2:5-11? Because He is God the Savior. 45. Is Jesus the true God? Yes. I John 5:20. 46. If God and the Holy Ghost are two separate persons, which was the Father of Christ? Matthew 1:20 says that the Holy Ghost was the Father, while Romans 15:6, II Corinthians 11:31, and Ephesians 1:3 say that God was the Father. There is no contradiction when we realize that God the Father and the Holy Ghost are one and the same Spirit. Matthew 10:20; Ephesians 4:4; I Corinthians 3:16. 47. When Paul asked the Lord who He was, what was the answer? "I am Jesus." Acts 9:5. 48. When Stephen was dying, did he call God Jesus? Yes. Acts 7:59. 49. Did Thomas ever call Jesus God? Yes. Can it be proved scripturally that Jesus and the Father are one in the same sense that husband and wife are one? No. The Godhead was never compared to the relationship of a husband and wife. Jesus identified Himself with the Father in a way that husband and wife cannot be identified with each other. John 14:9-11. 54. Does the Bible say that there is only one wise God? Yes. Jude 25. 55. Does the Bible call the Holy Ghost a second or third person in the Godhead? No. The Holy Ghost is the one Spirit of God, the one God Himself at work in our lives. John 4:24; I Corinthians 3:16-17; 6:19; 12:13. 56. Can Trinitarians show that three divine persons were present when Jesus was baptized by John? Absolutely not. The one, omnipresent God used three simultaneous manifestations. Only one divine person was present--Jesus Christ the Lord. 57. Then what were the other two of whom Trinitarians speak? One was a voice from heaven; the other was the Spirit of God in the form of a dove. Matthew 3:16-17. 58. What did the voice say at Jesus' baptism? "Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Mark 1:11. As the Son of God, Jesus was the one God incarnate. 59. Does the Bible say that God shed His blood and that God laid down His life for us? Yes. Acts 20:28; I John 3:16. God was able to do this because He had taken upon Himself a human body. 60. The Bible says that God is coming back with all his saints (Zechariah 14:5) and also that Jesus is coming back with all his saints (I Thessalonians 3:13). Are two coming back? No. Only one is coming back--our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. Titus 2:13. |

Don't you find it interesting that when the prophecy of Jesus occured in Isaiah 9:6 That Isaiah said he would be called "The EVERLASTING FATHER"? Interestingly enough too is that this reference on here the amplified version gives Matt 28:18 as a verse to compare to you know what it says? Matthew 28 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Jesus is the Father, the son and the Holy Ghost. First of all Kalos, There is a group called Jesus Only and they believe that you cannot say Jesus Christ or Jesus of Nazereth or anything attached to the name of Jesus and I am not a part of that group I AM UPC. wanna bash what we believe at least get it right www.upci.org okay? Secondly, YOU are doing nothing more than trying to cause problems. I feel it from you Kalos. I recognize the spirit you are transmitting in your words. You are trying to stir up problems and get people to HATE the Truth. Don't worry though, I am praying for you. I hope you wake up and realize the "Name Calling" that YOU are doing. If you notice I am very careful about what I say in regards to you and your beliefs, and all who are on here. 1 Samuel 26:9 And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD's anointed, and be guiltless? 1 Samuel 24:10 Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and some bade me kill thee: but mine eye spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the LORD's anointed. 1 Samuel 26:11 The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the LORD's anointed: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that is at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go. 2 Samuel 19:21 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD's anointed? Matthew 18 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. God is my judge not you Kalos. You attack the Apostolics/UPC/Jesus only or anyone else again and the lockman foundation will be getting a very long letter from me in regards to you. I have tried nicely to ask you people to please not bash religions, that is not what this study forum is for. I have not in anyway bashed you or called you people heretics. Even though I do not agree with what you believe. Most of the time Kalos I do not even take time to respond to you because of your general attitude. However this really struck a nerve, because you don't even know what we believe. Get over it Kalos no one made you a judge. Further more, the trinity of the Godhead is not in the bible from beginning to end it indicates the oneness of God. Revelations 1:8 My God is the beginning and the ending, My God is Alpha and Omega. The first and the Last My God is Jesus. I am not Jesus only I am Jesus EVERYTHING. |

Makarios, I apologize for not getting back to you in a reasonable amount of time. As I had to take this information to my husband (Jesus) and ask him. You see, I feel a great burden for people who are blinded by this way of thinking. And Makarios, Here are some interesting things: John 7 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) ***He is refering to the Acts Experience** Something else that interests me. Matthew 1 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. Luke 1 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And here is what interests me. You say there is God the father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. But if the Holy Ghost overshadowed Mary, Wouldn't the Holy Ghost be the father? But in Luke it says and he will be called the SON OF GOD. See God had this "Problem" (if you will) He needed a perfect sinless sacrifice. But ALL HAVE SINNED. And this perfect God searched through heaven and earth Isaiah 59:16 to find a man but could not find one worthy. So he came down in his infinite creativity and love and mercy and created a body inside of a woman. This little creation was formed around the hand of God. See God had to have a body. Jesus is his body. Spirits do not have bodies, you can't see them, so in essence Jesus is the very FACE of God. There aren't three. There is one. Can you KILL God? NO. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. Without a body, God could not have remitted the sins. Spirits do not bleed. So this infinite spirit had to have FLESH AND BONE. Jesus is the almighty God. In Revelations 1:8 It is JESUS talking and he says I AM THE ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE BEGINNING AND THE ENDING, If your Jesus is the second person in the Godhead then YOU ARE NOT READING YOUR BIBLE. Jesus was the first and the last. AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN. |

The argument is important. See 3 God's or 100 it's all idolatry. Deut 6:4 also found in the 10 commandments. This is an important thing. And it does have baring on salvation. See Idolatry is a SIN. So we must worship God in spirit and in TRUTH. (John 4:24)

This is the King James Version. It's really my favorite cause it's just so poetic and flows. but the other versions are good too. Psalm 34 1 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. 3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. 5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. 6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. 8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. 9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. 10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. 11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD. 12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. 14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. 16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. 20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken. 21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. 22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate. |

79 | Creation of God, Baptism of Jesus Christ | Rev 1:8 | punkiedo | 112994
No one created God. God is a spirit. You can't create a spirit. God has always just been. He is Forever. The bible itself says that he is the beginning and the ending the alpha and omega the first and the last. And as far as Jesus being baptized, Jesus was perfect and sinless. I think this was done for 3 reasons and people may disagree with me but that is their OPINNION. Matthew 3 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. Ok first of all, I had a real question about this myself, but when you find out the facts it's easy to understand. To be considered a priest in bible days unless born of a certain tribe you had to have some sort of "miraculous" intervention. That is what the Dove and the voice was. Basically a sign saying he was chosen. Second, it was a sign for John. John was the only one that the bible records saw the dove. There were a lot of people that the bible records but only John saw the dove and heard the voice. So it was a sign to John that this is the messiah. Thirdly, I think that it was an example of what we should do. It was a "pre-pentecost" experience. Jesus said Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. When we are baptized in Jesus name the Holy Ghost comes down. (Acts 2:38-39,Acts 8, Acts 10, Acts 19.) |
