61 | do we need the Holy Spirit to go to Heav | John | popdzl | 37285
No, you do not need the Holy Spirit to go to Heaven. It, the Holy Spirit, is a gift to those who are abiding by commandments of God.
62 | Did son of man ascended down from heaven | John | popdzl | 37263
The Son of Man descended from heaven, ascended to heaven, and was in heaven all at the same time. The Son of Man is Jesus who is the word incarnate. The is the same word which was with God and was God. As such, He, the Son of Man, has the ability to transcend space and time. For the word, time does not exist as people of the flesh know it. Cf. John 8:48-59.
63 | Why Jesus live Lazarus die after raised | John | popdzl | 37260
Lazarus was a man who died and whose spirit was put back into the same body, thus he died again. Whereas Jesus is the son of God who is spirit. Spirit begets spirit, so when Jesus was born, he was not just a man, he was the word incrnate, i.e. in the flesh (provided by Mary). Thus, when Jesus was crucified, it was his fleshly nature which died, not His spirit (provided by God). Henceforth, He was resurrected and continues to live. Ultimately the symbology behind this is that God can bring life to anything which is figuretively or literally dead e.g. a person or an idea and that the Word lives on until the end of the Earth. Excellent question Eugean, thanks.
64 | My question is did Solomon die in or out | 1 Kings | popdzl | 37255
He was on the outs. 1Kings 11:11-13 shows that God has brought a judgement down on Solomon. He was merciful only because of His promises to David. Verses 4-8 of the same chapter say that Solomon turned his heart away from the Lord and performed acts which were wicked in His sight. God is not able to have a relationship with anyone who turns there heart away from Him, cf. Saul (1Sam 15:22-23).
65 | Why punish the man of God? | 1 Kings | popdzl | 37252
This passage of scripture allows us to see that we who have heard from God must follow through with what He has spoken unless He tells us otherwise. The prophet was not the original courier of the word to the man of God, therefore the man of God should not have listened to him even if he said that an angel told him it was OK for him to do so. If he had been uncertain, he could have asked God. The punishment for priests and knowers of the word is always more severe than for general believers and non-believers. God allowed the prophet to be used (either by Him or Satan) to test the man of God.
66 | Please explain the verse? | 1 Kings | popdzl | 37248
It means that in whatever you believe, have faith.
67 | What was Saul's problem? | 1 Samuel | popdzl | 37247
Saul knew that his days as king were numbered (1Sam 15:23,26,28) and figured that David would be the one to replace him. It-the idea of losing his throne, showed that Saul had become enslaved to the flesh and to worldly things. None of what happened between Saul and David would have occurred if Saul would have had let go of the throne when the time came; instead he tried to prevent or overthrow God's word. This act-preventing God's word from manifesting into truth, is what led to the ruin of him and his posterity.
68 | Is the image in 1Sam. 28 really Samuel? | 1 Samuel | popdzl | 37245
Yes, it was actually Samuel. At this point, the Holy Spirit had departed from Saul, thus the Lord had no reason to test him, and as we see, the words of Samuel's spirit actually came true.
69 | why were Eli's sons permitted to do this | 1 Samuel | popdzl | 37242
As a man of God, Eli only did God's will. It was not Eli's duty to "save" his sons. Only they-his sons, could do that by stopping their wicked acts, repenting, and following after the Lord. Just as later, Samuel could neither prevent Israel from demanding a king other than God nor the king from disobeying God's commandments.
70 | Doesn't God hear us always? | Gen 1:1 | popdzl | 37241
Yes God hears us always. The problem is that we are not always able to hear or interpret his answers. Thus, we feel that either he is not able to hear us or is not answering us. Unforgiveness is the result of a hard heart which would not allow one to hear any response from God.
71 | Who or what is the "gift of God" | Acts 8:20 | popdzl | 37238
The gifts of God are the Earth and Heavens, our creation, peace, healing, sanctification, strength, victory, His presence, righteousness, and His Son Jesus Christ.
72 | Meaning of discernment | Acts 8:20 | popdzl | 37235
Discernment is the ability to see matters clearly. In Acts 8:20-23, we see that Peter was able to expose the motives behind Peters actions and the thoughts which led to the motives! It-discernment, is a gift of the Holy Spirit, which befell Peter and the other apostles before they began their ministries (Acts 2:1-4). Through the gift of discernment, one will be able to see truthfully into the hearts and minds of men and of matters.
