Hi Tim, afer all is said and done, we will never plumb the depths of God's Word. Frankly, I find it odd for us to relagate any portion of Scripture the dustbin of the archives. Christians are like the flowers in a garden, that have each of them the dew of Heaven, which, being shaken with the wind, they let fall at each other’s roots, whereby they are jointly nourished, and become nourishers of each other. John Bunyan (1628-1688) |

How different is the God of the Bible from the God of modern Christendom! The conception of Deity which prevails most widely today, even among those who profess to give heed to the Scriptures, is a miserable caricature, a blasphemous travesty of the Truth. The God of the twentieth century is a helpless, effeminate being who commands the respect of no really thoughtful man. The God of the popular mind is the creation of maudlin sentimentality. The God of many a present-day pulpit is an object of pity rather than of awe-inspiring reverence. To say that God the Father has purposed the salvation of all mankind, that God the Son died with the express intention of saving the whole human race, and that God the Holy Spirit is now seeking to win the world to Christ; when, as a matter of common observation, it is apparent that the great majority of our fellowmen are dying in sin, and passing into a hopeless eternity; is to say that God the Father is disappointed, that God the Son is dissatisfied, and that God the Holy Spirit is defeated. We have stated the issue baldly, but there is no escaping the conclusion. To argue that God is "trying His best" to save all mankind, but that the majority of men will not let Him save them, is to insist that the will of the Creator is impotent, and that the will of the creature is omnipotent. To throw the blame, as many do, upon the Devil, does not remove the difficulty, for if Satan is defeating the purpose of God, then, Satan is Almighty and God is no longer the Supreme Being. 65 | confused about Noahs son | Gen 9:22 | hopalong | 209613
Hi Mick, Noah was a righteous man, but he was not sinless. His son Ham, rather than calling his brothers to join him in deriding his father, should have covered his father's nakedness himself and not called his brothers to join him in witnesing his father's shameful condition. Thanks be to Christ that He has covered us with a robe by which our sins are not exposed to judgement. Hopalog |

66 | How do you reconcile unexpected deaths? | Ex 20:13 | hopalong | 208084
Dear Dawna, our friend george has over looked the fact that our sins (past, present and future)have been been paid for by Jesus who died for 'His people" so they might live. Matt 1:21 "She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins." Hopalong |

67 | whjat does it mean man's free will | Bible general Archive 4 | hopalong | 208082
Hi John, What is the will but the servant of man's strongest desire? It has been likened to a scale which tips one way or the other. Desire arises from a man's heart, which is by nature wicked and corrupt. Gen 6:5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Hoppy |

68 | Why are some gifts of God not wanted? | 1 Cor 12:4 | hopalong | 208080
Dear Bowler, thank you brother for sharing your heart with me. I pray that your child will bring fort a multitude of grand kids for the glory of God. Even though I'm a refomed Presbyterian and I strongly disagree with Catholic Church on many of their doctrines, I do commend them for standing firm against abortion and contraceptives. God Almigty has proclaimed, and in no uncertain terms ,that children are HIS gift His Reward to His beloved children. How then, can those who call themselves by His name, seek to prevent HIS precious gift from arriving? Or even being sent in the first place. I pray that our younger brethern will heed The WORD OF GOD! Ps 127:3 Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. We are faithless when we fear that children may be a hindrance and a burden that may have an adverse impact on our "lifestyle". Have we been saved merely to indulge ourselves on all the world offers? God Forbid it! No, we have been saved so that we may be wedded to our glorious and magnificent bridegroom, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am writing to my younger friends, from a heart filled with love you. I am envisioning you 40 years from now.God willing, I see you surrounded by a large family sons and daughters, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren! In that day you will rejoice with great rejoicing and Praise God for rewarding you with a strong and beautiful children. From the bottom of my heart, Hoppy |

69 | Why are some gifts of God not wanted? | 1 Cor 12:4 | hopalong | 208038
Brother Bowler, Thanks for your Q. As I get closer to old age (I'm 62) I find myself reflecting on my life. One of my regrets is that I used contraceptives, which seemed sensible at the time...but now breaks my heart. Ps 127:3 Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. IN RETOSPECT I was a fool! I traded the Gifts of God for material security. If you are planning your family, please do not spurn any of His gifts or rewards. Hopalong |

76 | how do i get control of my will? | Colossians | hopalong | 207837
Welcome to the Army of God! make no mistake, we are at war against the world, the flesh and the devil.! Our enemy knows our weak spots and he uses them to break down our resistance. I know , because he has used them, not only on you, but on each and every person who has made Christ his king. As in all wars, there are those who are wounded (thats the bad news), the good news is that those who have been called by The KING, are never killed! Now, I am an old soldier, and I have been wound more times than I care to think about. Nevertheless, my advice is , don' t don't fall for the same trick twice. the enemy of your King will use the same tactics over and over again until they no longer work. His favorite temptation he used against our first parents in the garden. Which was to plant into their minds a doubt as to what God has said ! In the case of sexual sin, he says "whats wrong with looking at beautiful women on the internet? How can that be a sin? afterall, did't God create these women? It's a scam! Run as fast as you can to the Rock of your salvation where the enemy of your soul cannot you! There fortify yourself by learning how much your king loves you. PS don't sweat the smoking. It certainly is a bad habit, but it is not a sin. Fight the Good Fight, Hopalong |

77 | Heb6:4-6 Loosing salvation or what? | Heb 6:4 | hopalong | 207671
Dear Tim, Yes I do say that unregenerate people can partake of the Holy Spirit.I say it in the sense that a football fan may partake in the game but is not a member of the team. I say it in the sense that a church member may sing 'hear the preached Word, partake of the worship service, but, his heart and mind are far from God. Tim, you stated that you" just can't see any possible way that 'partakers of the Holy Spirit' can be applied to the unregenerate." To whom is the authour refering to in Heb 6:7 througot thrir are refrences to we and those. What do you mean by Common regarding The Holy Sprit? |

78 | Heb6:4-6 Loosing salvation or what? | Heb 6:4 | hopalong | 207635
Dear Pator Tim, thanks for your question. Thank God for HE has not left us out on a limb! In fact He tells us precisely who the these "partakers" are, and the extent of their participation. Heb 6:7-8 For ground that drinks the rain which often falls on it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God; but if it yields thorns and thistles, it is worthless and close to being cursed, and it ends up being burned. These folks are the ground that partake in the common rain, but becuse of their unregenerate natures do not bare good fruit. Hoppy |

Hi Tim, Yes, I agree. However I believe that regarding doctrine, it is advisable to allow scripture to interpret scripture. It is inadvisable to found a doctrine on a solitary verse. Hoppy Kind regards, |

ANS: Repentance is a gift from God . Acts 11:18 When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, "Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life." Acts 5:31 "He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. Cor 7:10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death. Hoppy |
