I do not come from that standpoint either however you do not have the wisdom to see this. And it is definitely not always the right time to use scripture. If a person has the wrong intentions it is not right for that person to use scripture. If a person does not have the right heart it is not good either. Scripture can be very easily twisted in these circumstances and risk going against God's work. No matter how correct Joe may have been he was unsuccessful for a very good reason. He was more concerned for words than heart. Throwing out into the world your knowledge of the Bible will make little difference. You can believe he was right, I do not. |

I thank God that I am not learning my Christian walk with a non gentle person like yourself. You would surely turn me away from all Christians. It is better that we stay apart. I do not need your toxicity.

Exactly, so stop trying to be. Do you realise that the more you argue your point with someone on a theological meaning, you will acheive their steadfastness in their own interpretation? I somehow doubt this is your intention but it is what you are acheiving. Throwing scripture at a person your way will ensure and strengthen their interpretation no matter how right you may be, and even more importantly, it could convince them that you may have a lack of Christian love for them. Is that really what you want, or do you want to show God's love for them and encourage them down the right road? It isn't all about words and I know that you know this but your words do not show this. Your faith appears to be strong so do you think Jesus would beat RevC down with a stick or gently show him a different road and if RevC still disagrees what do you think Jesus would do? If you still believe your style of discussion is appropriate then by all means go ahead. I am not going to beat you down with a bullish attitude. I have witnessed too many times the destruction that follows. I am not going to through Scripture at you as if I am supposed to be better than you. If I believe someone has lost the path of love and I am not the person to show them a more loving way after trying, then I will go on my way and let God place the most appropriate person in their path. I know for sure that He will. I luv you Joe, coffee |

Dear Tim, Thankyou for your considerate note. Though my note was directed at Joe, you are most welcome to comment. I think you have made an excellent point, of which I agree; however, 2Tim 3:16 is more often abused than used in love. My intention towards Joe was to encourage him to be kinder rather that putting all of his energy into arguing a point; not to bring him down, as I am more than sure you are aware. I, myself, am not that great at achieving this, though I suspect if Joe has something to say in reply to my note, he will do so. Sometimes we have to trust God to show when He is ready. This scripture is often misused because we decide it is our job in our timing. I am extremely cautious about using scripture to put a point across because of the misuse I have witnessed. I will not argue with another who believes in something very strongly. If it is wrong, though not necessarily harmful to others, I fully believe that God will place something in their path. For example, if Rev C is wrong then I think God will place an event in his path. If this happens to be an encounter with Joe, then so be it. But what Rev C will remember most is the type of energy Joe reflected in the way he chose to handle the debate. If I was to turn around and be full on with you, would you remember what I said or how I treated you? If I was rude to you would it really matter to you if I was right? Or, to put it another way: a person has a browse through this forum, looking for God's love, instead finds argueing in a rather exagerated fashion. How will they view Christians? You have made an excellent point, and I could also use scriptures but I will not. You have enough intelligence to understand and to ask and to choose to disagree if your understanding is diferent. The kind of misuse I have seen of this scripture has broken churches, Christians, and especially, new Christians apart. It needs to be used very carefully with much wisdom and love. Again Tim,thank you for your thoughtful reply. I have already appreciated many of your notes. deb |

Yes Searcher, isn't that prayer beautiful! Thankyou for your kind response and relevant scripture references. Could you please check Matt 7:34-36? I don't have that in my bible and I certainly don't know enough to work out which one you meant. Thanks again.

This has been a very interesting discussion for me. I will not claim to have the right answer on any theological point as I understand some of my human state. God knows the truth and that is enough for me. Thankyou to all who contributed to this discussion. I find John a very interesting read. While reading this book it occurrs to me that sometimes it is Jesus speaking and sometimes it God speaking through Jesus and they always both agree. How wonderful is this book in establishing their love for us. Joe, I ask you, is it more important to fight for your understanding of theology; the bible, or is it more precious to lead others to having faith and following Jesus. Whatever you believe today then you need to follow for you and whatever RevC believes then he will also follow for him, and down the road your understanding may change. You are both were you need to be today. RevC thankyou for your calmness and love through out your posts. |

I agree with you Hank, that 'the more cultist they lean the greater their influence'. I have learnt this the hard way and it is a very painful road indeed.
79 | Who cannot believe in the Trinity? | Matt 28:19 | coffee | 56508
If you want to ask a question then you go right ahead. If you want to search instead of ask then you go right ahead. God will bring you the answer He wants for you when the time is right. Many will feel absolute in their answer - we are human. Your walk is yours. A word of encouragement. |

hello, and help!! What is happening here?? Where is the love? You all have so much to offer but to argue over your interpretation of scripture may not produce the growth that you are looking for. You all seem to be intelligent people with strong faith so lets love and look out for each other hey? Nice save Hank.
