61 | woman pastors | Matt 14:30 | Lissamz | 136910
1 Cor. 13:34 reads "The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says." I've always taken this to mean that men do have the primary position in leadership of the gathering body of believers. On the other hand, I do strongly believe that women can and should teach Bible studies for themselves (other women) and children. But as far as women pastors, bishops, or sheperds of the "entire" flock. I must say that I have to reject on the basis of the Scripture above. hidden in Christ, Lissa |

62 | The little words | James 3:9 | Lissamz | 136710
Angel, Thanks for your comment, but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. I really wanted to know from Matt 12:34, could we conclude that even phrases, such as, "whatever" be taken as coming from the heart?? In our culture, "whatever" holds the connotation of not caring, being unconcerned, or a nonchalant attitude. Plus, as I say attitude, "whatever" is not usually identified with a good attitude. I've asked him why he uses "whatever" and he says that he just says it, as a figure of speech. Basically, my question is- Is he being truthful when he says that he's just saying it or because of Matt 12:34 should I infer that he is using this word and type of speech in other manners, because it is truly what he feels in his heart?? Does Matt 12:34 refer to just the serious matters that we speak of, as coming from the heart?? Or is Jesus speaking of ALL things that come out of our mouths as being from the heart?? Basically, I don't want to go to him and condemn him, if it is only that I am being irritated through his language manners by the adversary, but if not and what he is speaking is truly from his heart, then we need to speak about it. I just want to be sure and know. (of, course I am praying about it and asking the Lord for wisdom (Jam 1:5) and discernment.) Thanks, Lissa |

63 | The little words | Not Specified | Lissamz | 136705
Matt 12:34 reads O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. This is really only about the latter section of the verse, though "for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." The question I have is kind of personal. My ex-fiancee that I still talk to daily says a lot of things that bother me personally (I don't want to say that he says them to bother or irritate me.) But I get highly aggrevated sometimes in our conversations to the point that I want to get off the phone. The main thing that scrapes my nerves is when he answers "whatever" to just casual conversation. It won't be an arguement or even a passive aggressive situation, but he's constantly using this word, with other words and phrases that grind my nerves, too. Me, personally as a Christian, pray everyday that the Lord would bridle my tongue and make me aware of what I am saying (yes, the actual words.) Are there any other verses that can put this Scripture and it's practical application in a more clear light? Should I be reading his words this deeply or am I overreacting? |

65 | claiming things in your life | Is 53:5 | Lissamz | 135904
Actually, the correct Scripture is (forgive me) Mark 11:23- "Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him."- I've seen this verse referred to as "say-it faith." First line in my post I said I've seen it referred to as "say-it" faith..not that it is. And I think that this is a Christian website, so I would assume that most here are walking with the Lord and in His Word, leading to request that could only be for the glory of the Lord, seeing as we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit. And can God actually move a mountain in our lives or the lives of others?? Ohh, yes! Our God is an Awesome, Powerful God. All things are possible for Him and through Him all things are possible for us that please Him and are according to His will. It pleases Him to bless us that He may be glorified! Moreover, Jesus never teaches to have faith in faith. He always teaches to have faith in Him. Some could say that Christians have faith in the Bible, which we do in a distinct fashion (not getting into that debate now), because it is God's Word, because we have faith in the Bible, does that mean that our faith in Jesus is less than average? Never that! It points to Jesus and His work. Romans 10:17- So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. And moreso 1 John 5:4- For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. Finally Hebrews 11:6- And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. So, have faith in faith, no, never that! But having a faith that is strengthened by "saying" Scripture aloud to stand more firm on the promises of God (I mentioned it in my post, that I do this) is by no way discouraged in the Scripture. Actually, we are told Matt 12:37- "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." And I know that God will not judge those who rightly speak His words in faith. So, finally brother in Christ, I was not trying to offer my answer as to whether "name it and claim it" was right or wrong. I'm not very educated in where the phrase came from or where it originated, I was only trying to give the only example of speaking as a means of faith in the Bible. God Bless and keep you. hidden in Christ, Lissa 1 Peter 5:5- You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE. |

Matt 11:23- "Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.- I've seen this verse referred to as "say-it faith." Faith that is in our hearts, of course, but that can be exercised by actually saying it out loud. I know that sometimes I have to do this in order to establish my full belief of ALL things God has said and promised according to Scripture. This is the closest thing in the Bible that I have seen that relates to "name it and claim it," though this has a lot more to do with faith, more so than directly naming something and claiming it. Finally, it seems to stand on the notion of saying something outloud that God has "previously or already" showed us in Himself, through His Word. Hope this helped a little! hidden in Christ, Lissa |

67 | What is worship, according to the Bible? | John 4:24 | Lissamz | 135614
I know this is a little late. Like 2 years late!!But, I believe from the Word of God that acceptable worship (because there are many unacceptable ways of worship!!) is found in Psalm 24:3-6. The outward display of worship is second to the internal, the outward should be a reflection of the internal. Another good verse is also in Psalm 51:16-17. And lastly, the perfect example, Rev. 4:5-11. Hope these helped before it was too late, but then again the Word of God is always right on time! Hosanna!
