61 | WAS JESUS GOD ON EARTH TOO OR JUSTMAN | Ps 8:5 | meusing | 38295
Jesus IS good, as He is God, He did not share man's sinful nature Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Jesus created our flesh and became flesh (John 1:14) but He was without sin He was Man and God, Immanuel. so much man that he was so tired that he slept through a raging storm, yet so much God that He calmed that storm with a word. 62 | WAS JESUS GOD ON EARTH TOO OR JUSTMAN | Ps 8:5 | meusing | 38298
Sorry, that is Heb 5:7-9 Heb 5:7 In the days of His flesh [Jesus] offered up definite, special petitions [for that which He not only wanted but needed] and supplications with strong crying and tears to Him Who was [always] able to save Him [out] from death, and He was heard because of His reverence toward God [His godly fear, His piety, in that He shrank from the horrors of separation from the bright presence of the Father]. 8 Although He was a Son, He learned [active, special] obedience through what He suffered 9 And, [His completed experience] making Him perfectly [equipped], He became the Author and Source of eternal salvation to all those who give heed and obey Him, [Isa. 45:17.] Amplified |

64 | Love God, His word, any difference? | Ps 95:10 | meusing | 153314
The best illustration of this is the story of a young woman who tried to read a book a friend had recommended to her. She found it very boring and put it aside. A few weeks later she went to a party and met the author of the book. He made quite an impression on her. (So much so that a year later she married him). Anyway, she went home and reread the book and was fasinated by it. The difference? She had met the auhor of the book and it was an insight ito his mind. The Bible is precious to us since we know the Author and we Know more about the Author through His word. |

65 | Spurgeon on "hate evil" | Ps 97:10 | meusing | 152056
Here is Spurgeon on "hate evil": June 7 Morning “Ye that love the Lord hate evil.” - Psa_97:10 Thou hast good reason to “hate evil,” for only consider what harm it has already wrought thee. Oh, what a world of mischief sin has brought into thy heart! Sin blinded thee so that thou couldst not see the beauty of the Saviour; it made thee deaf so that thou couldst not hear the Redeemer’s tender invitations. Sin turned thy feet into the way of death, and poured poison into the very fountain of thy being; it tainted thy heart, and made it “deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.” Oh, what a creature thou wast when evil had done its utmost with thee, before divine grace interposed! Thou wast an heir of wrath even as others; thou didst “run with the multitude to do evil.” Such were all of us; but Paul reminds us, “but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” We have good reason, indeed, for hating evil when we look back and trace its deadly workings. Such mischief did evil do us, that our souls would have been lost had not omnipotent love interfered to redeem us. Even now it is an active enemy, ever watching to do us hurt, and to drag us to perdition. Therefore “hate evil,” O Christians, unless you desire trouble. If you would strew your path with thorns, and plant nettles in your death-pillow, then neglect to “hate evil:” but if you would live a happy life, and die a peaceful death, then walk in all the ways of holiness, hating evil, even unto the end. If you truly love your Saviour, and would honour him, then “hate evil.” We know of no cure for the love of evil in a Christian like abundant intercourse with the Lord Jesus. Dwell much with him, and it is impossible for you to be at peace with sin. “Order my footsteps by thy Word, And make my heart sincere; Let sin have no dominion, Lord, But keep my conscience clear.” |

68 | Ezekiel 37 - The Valley of The Bones? | Ezek 37:1 | meusing | 44658
Jesus IS king of the Kingdom of God to all who are citezens of the kingdom. "King of my life, I crown thee now..." Concerning the remnant ... Is 10:20 And it shall be in that day that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more lean upon him who smote them, but will lean upon the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. Is 10:21 A remnant will return [Shear-jashub, name of Isaiah's son], a remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God. Is 10:22 For though your population, O Israel, be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of it will return [and survive]. The [fully completed] destruction is decreed (decided upon and brought to an issue); it overflows with justice and righteousness [the infliction of just punishment]. [Rom. 9:27, 28.] Is 10:23 For the Lord, the Lord of hosts, will make a full end, whatever is determined or decreed [in Israel], in the midst of all the earth. |

69 | why is he call Matthew and Levi? | Matthew | meusing | 43150
What do you mean "thank you but no thank you"? John Gill explined : "The other evangelists call him Levi, who was the son of Alphaeus: he went by two names; Mark and Luke call him by the name, which perhaps was the more honourable, or the least known, on purpose to conceal the former life of the apostle, which might expose him to the contempt of some; but he himself chooses to mention the name by which he was most known, as an apostle, and that the grace of God might appear the more illustrious in his calling and conversion. The Jews say that one of Christ's disciples was called (yatm) , Matthew, which, as Levi, is an Hebrew name; for though he was a publican, yet a Jew; for it was common with the Jews either to be employed by the Roman officers in collecting the toll or tribute, or to farm it of them. 70 | Was Mary a virgin her whole life | Matt 1:25 | meusing | 48449
It is not the church we go to that saves us, whether Catholic or Protestant, it is Jesus Christ. The 'church' is an assembly of sinners redeemed by the blood of Christ. There are many tempermants, some feel worshipful in a liturgical setting, others feel worsip in a more free service, still it is not the service or litergy that saves us. If the leadership of the assembly denys the basics of the birth, death, resurrection, assention and coming of Jesus then that assembly has rejected the blood of Christ and we should look for another assembly of blood bought Christians who meet to worship God. That might be a little disjointed, but if you feel that you can worship Christ in the Baptist church ok, If that church leadership however starts to deny Jesus then it is ok to fellowship with other Christians where-ever they are. |

I think that you are confusing the emotion of Love with the attribute of Love which is chosing the best for the other no matter how I feel. That is how we can love others who hate us. Our focus is on God, not an emotion. Agape love is an act of the will. |

73 | Does not All hang on Love? mt 22:36-40 | Matt 6:24 | meusing | 46543
giam, you seem to be confusing eros love with agape love. Love does not define God, God defines what love is. the focus is to be on God, not love. to give an illustration, A judge here in Canada decided to show love to a convicted murderer and released him. His ex-wife died as a result and he is still loose. The judge acted on love not justice. All eros is not agape. We look to God not to eros |

77 | What is the Lord teaching in this verse? | Matt 7:6 | meusing | 40792
John Gill said : Matthew 7:6 Give not that which is holy to the dogs ... Dogs were unclean creatures by the law; the price of one might not be brought into the house of the Lord, for a vow, (Deuteronomy 23:18) yea, these creatures were not admitted into several temples of the Heathens . Things profane and unclean, as flesh torn by beasts, were ordered to be given to them, (Exodus 22:31) but nothing that was holy was to be given them, as holy flesh, or the holy oblations, or anything that was consecrated to holy uses; to which is the allusion here. It is a common maxim F9 with the Jews, "that they do not redeem holy things, to give to the dogs to eat". Here the phrase is used in a metaphorical sense; and is generally understood of not delivering or communicating the holy word of God, and the truths of the Gospel, comparable to pearls, or the ordinances of it, to persons notoriously vile and sinful: to men, who being violent and furious persecutors, and impudent blasphemers, are compared to "dogs"; or to such, who are scandalously vile, impure in their lives and conversations, and are therefore compared to swine; neither cast ye your pearls before swine. But since the subject Christ is upon is reproof, it seems rather to be the design of these expressions, that men should be cautious, and prudent, in rebuking and admonishing such persons for their sins, in whom there is no appearance or hope of success; yea, where there is danger of sustaining loss; lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you: that is, despise the admonitions and reproofs given, and hurt the persons who give them, either by words or deeds; see (Proverbs 9:7,8) . The Jews have some sayings much like these, and will serve to illustrate them F11; "do not cast pearls before swine", nor deliver wisdom to him, who knows not the excellency of it; for wisdom is better than pearls, and he that does not seek after it, is worse than a swine. I agree. I was just replying to a question that demaded that we worship on the seventh day and no other and was antaganistic to any who worshiped on the first day of the week. He called it a day of sun worship. I say it is a day of SON worship. I was just comenting that is our priviledge to assemble on the first day. |

"...The grave of Jesus forms the grand terminus of all. But the resurrection takes us beyond this terminus, and constitutes the imperishable basis on which God's glory and man's blessing repose forever. The moment the eye of faith rests on a risen Christ, there is a truimphant answer to every question as to sin, judgement, death, and the grave. The One who diviely met all these is alive from the dead, and has taken His seat at the right hand of the Majesty in the heavens" "God the Father, drew the plan, God the Son laid the foundation, and God the Holy Ghost raises the superstructure; and on this superstructure appears the inscription, "through grace, by faith without works of law." 80 | Mark 3:5 verus Matthew 5:22 | Mark 3:5 | meusing | 43149
Anger against wrong as wrong is a sign of moral health not sin. "there is an anger which is not sinful, is in God, in Christ, in the holy angels; and is commendable in the people of God, when it arises from a true zeal for religion, the glory of God, and the interest of Christ; and is kindled against sin, their own, or others, all manner of vice, false doctrine, and false worship" (Gill) about 'about cause' ... Adam Clarke said "Whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause] Æo orgizomenov-eikh, who is vainly incensed. "This translation is literal; and the very objectionable phrase, without a cause, is left out, eikh being more properly translated by that above." What our Lord seems here to prohibit, is not merely that miserable facility which some have of being angry at every trifle, continually taking offense against their best friends; but that anger which leads a man to commit outrages against another, thereby subjecting himself to that punishment which was to be inflicted on those who break the peace. eikh, vainly, or, as in the common translation, without a cause, is wanting in the famous Vatican MS. and two others, the Ethiopic, latter Arabic, Saxon, Vulgate, two copies of the old Itala, J. Martyr, Ptolomeus, Origen, Tertullian, and by all the ancient copies quoted by St. Jerome. It was probably a marginal gloss originally, which in process of time crept into the text." |
