61 | How do I to better stand on His word? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 229490
That’s solid information alright but it isn’t exactly what that verse has in mind. Just like the natural man is born into this world with the equipment to function in this world, like wise the one who is going to function in the life to come, i.e. life with God or everlasting life needs to be born of the spirit so that he has the equipment necessary to understand spiritual phenomenon. That’s why Jesus said the following: John 3:1-6 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Before we can go any further, have you come to the place yet where you know for sure that you have been born of the spirit? CDBJ |

62 | REV.21 VS 8 ARENT THEY SAVED TOO? | Luke 23:39 | CDBJ | 229396
Greetings Biblicalman, You could intensify the effectiveness of your posts if you would include the actual verse and not just the address. Very few people actually take the time to look up the verses from the address location; Example: Faith doesn’t come from the address but the Word it’s self which I’m sure you are aware of. Romans 10:17 (New American Standard Bible (1995 Update)) 10:17 (NASB) So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Have a great day, CDBJ |

65 | why are there rewards in heaven | 1 Corinthians | CDBJ | 229068
Greetings Sethknorr and welcome to the forum. The works spoken of for salvation are quite different from the works accomplished by one who is already a believer in Jesus. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. This verse is talking about salvation. The following verse is a reference to that which the believer accomplishes while in the body but the work falls into two different classes, one will count and the other will be burnt up. 1 Cor. 3:12-15 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. The day is the judgment seat of Christ, for believers only, which is for rewards. The gold, silver and precious stones are only produced when the believer is under the control of and filled with the Spirit at the time the work was accomplished. If one performs good deeds and it is done through the energy of the flesh,i.e. under the controll of his old sin nature, it will be counted as wood, hay and stubble and it will burn up. The big question is how one is supposed to be filled with the Spirit. The believer in Christ is filled with the Spirit from the very moment they believe in Christ for salvation, only they can loose this filling when they grieve or quench the Spirit. Ephes. 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 1 Thes. 5:19 Quench not the Spirit. We are commanded to be filled with the Spirit so it is something we have to do. Ephes. 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; What grieves or quenches the Spirit is “unconfessed sin” in the believers life! In order to get back in fellowship and be filled with the Spirit one MUST exercise the following. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. This fills one with the Spirit only until the next time that they commit a sin! The big mistake that believers make is that they ask God to forgive them and that doesn’t work! He has already said He would forgive if we will just “name our sins to Him”, that’s what the word confess or HOMOLOGEO in the Greek means, i.e. admit to it as in a court room case. Keep short accounts and there won't be a problem. Have a great day, CDBJ |

Greetings The object of my post was to impress upon the poster of #229043 that assumptions aren't always true to the Word of God and that one needs to back up what they say with chapter and verse! CDBJ P.S. Even the "best of wishes" can't advance one like good old fasion prayer and I would rather stick to Romans 8:28. |

68 | How can the Son at the end be subject be | 1 Cor 15:28 | CDBJ | 228570
I certainly hope that you’ve held firm on your conviction and conveniently removed the first eight verses from the book of Hebrews in whatever Bible translation you ascribe to? Since you insist that 1John 3:1-5 is the Father you better work on removing Isaiah 53:10, 11 as well. Isaiah 53:10-11 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. These of course are only starters, but going on the truth of 1 Cor.2:14 we might as well leave it at that! 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 70 | Exactly what does Mark 15:42 mean | Mark 15:42 | CDBJ | 228152
The notion that it was Friday came down from a source that didn’t know the facts of the Hebrew feast. It didn’t say that the next day was Saturday it said that the next day was a Sabbath. The Passover was celebrated on the 14th of Nisan. The next day was the beginning of the feast of unleavened bread and was a high holy day starting on the 15th of Nisan and ending on the first day of the week which was the 17th and a Sunday. Checking back one will find the day of the Pesach or Passover was on a Thursday and Christ being the firstfruit of those to rise was on a Sunday and the 17th. The 14th was a Thursday if on will do the math. Have a great day, I hope this helps, CDBJ |

That’s your decision to make from the doctrine that you have residing in your soul! We don’t give advice just Bible doctrine. Jeremiah 17:5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. Don’t look to man for your answers turn to the Lord. Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Are you one in need of help; do what the verse says. I might be jumping to the assumption that you have, at some point in time, had a personal relationship with the Lord and have trusted in the finished work of Christ? If you haven’t had this experience yet everything that I have said up to this point won’t make a great deal of sense to you. Is that the case? CDBJ |

It isn't a sin issue since the death of Christ, it's a Son issue. 1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. People’s “sins aren’t even mentioned” at the white throne judgment and they are lost individuals for sure! What is mentioned is what they did in the way of works instead of trusting in the finished work of Christ. CDBJ |

77 | Bible against taking some else's offense | Ex 4:12 | CDBJ | 225476
Not everything posted on this forum can be assumed as from the Lord. Example: “How can a dead Bible take offense to someone's words?” From that statement some could assume that the Bible is dead, where just the opposite is in fact the case. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Where the Word of God, the Bible, is concerned it always stands in judgment of us, we never stand in judgment of it. 2 Tim. 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; CDBJ |

78 | God can't die or look on sin! | Matt 27:46 | CDBJ | 225423
Hi Again FM, It looks as though I found the answer to my own question by reading further on the internet! CDBJ Answer: The hypostatic union is the term used to describe how God the Son, Jesus Christ, took on a human nature, yet remained fully God at the same time. Jesus always had been God (John 8:58, 10:30), but at the incarnation Jesus became a human being (John 1:14). The addition of the human nature to the divine nature is Jesus, the God-man. This is the hypostatic union, Jesus Christ, one Person, fully God and fully man. Jesus' two natures, human and divine, are inseparable. Jesus will forever be the God-man, fully God and fully human, two distinct natures in one Person. Jesus' humanity and divinity are not mixed, but are united without loss of separate identity. Jesus sometimes operated with the limitations of humanity (John 4:6, 19:28) and other times in the power of His deity (John 11:43; Matthew 14:18-21). In both, Jesus' actions were from His one Person. Jesus had two natures, but only one personality. The doctrine of the hypostatic union is an attempt to explain how Jesus could be both God and man at the same time. It is ultimately, though, a doctrine we are incapable of fully understanding. It is impossible for us to fully understand how God works. We, as human beings with finite minds, should not expect to totally comprehend an infinite God. Jesus is God’s Son in that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35). But that does not mean Jesus did not exist before He was conceived. Jesus has always existed (John 8:58, 10:30). When Jesus was conceived, He became a human being in addition to being God (John 1:1, 14). Jesus is both God and man. Jesus has always been God, but He did not become a human being until He was conceived in Mary. Jesus became a human being in order to identify with us in our struggles (Hebrews 2:17) and, more importantly, so that He could die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins (Philippians 2:5-11). In summary, the hypostatic union teaches that Jesus is both fully human and fully divine, that there is no mixture or dilution of either nature, and that He is one united Person, forever. 79 | God can't die or look on sin! | Matt 27:46 | CDBJ | 225422
Greetings FM and welcome back to the forum. I would guess it depends largely on which camp one’s concept of the hypostasis resides. I’m not even sure that my thoughts on the subject would totally fit entirely in any of the sections that I’ve listed but I would say the Apollinaris view would likely be the closes therefore causing the problem in my previous post. 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. The words (made him) in the previous verse would argue against The Apollinaris view of the hypostasis since deity can’t be made sin, as it were. Example from Wikipedia Apollinaris of Laodicea was the first to use the term hypostasis in trying to understand the Incarnation. Apollinaris described the union of the divine and human in Christ as being of a single nature and having a single essence - a single hypostasis. The Nestorian Theodore of Mopsuestia went in the other direction, arguing that in Christ there were two natures (dyophysite) (human and divine) and two hypostases (in the sense of "essence" or "person") that co-existed. The Chalcedonian Creed agreed with Theodore that there were two natures in the Incarnation. However, the Council of Chalcedon also insisted that hypostasis be used as it was in the Trinitarian definition: to indicate the person and not the nature as with Apollinarius. Thus, the Council declared that in Christ there are two natures; each retaining its own properties, and together united in one subsistence and in one single person As the precise nature of this union is held to defy finite human comprehension, the hypostatic union is also referred to by the alternative term "mystical union." The Oriental Orthodox Churches, having rejected the Chalcedonian Creed, were known as Monophysites because they would only accept a definition that characterized the incarnate Son as having one nature. The Chalcedonian "in two natures" formula was seen as derived from and akin to a Nestorian Christology. Contrariwise, the Chalcedonians saw the Oriental Orthodox as tending towards Eutychian Monophysitism. However, the Oriental Orthodox have in modern ecumenical dialogue specified that they have never believed in the doctrines of Eutyches, that they have always affirmed that Christ's humanity is consubstantial with our own, and they thus prefer the term Miaphysite to refer to themselves (a reference to Cyrillian Christology, which used the phrase "mia physis tou theou logou sesarkomene"). I hope you stay with us a while, CDBJ |

Hi Beja, I think you are getting close to something if we can make the following fit. 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. My point is how, since Christ is a hypostasis, can Jesus be made sin without infecting the deity, which we know is imposable? We know for a fact that it actually happened but how? CDBJ |
