All Muslim women cocer their heads. Catholic women have a small scarf on their head, or a hat. I think today Scripture leaces it up to the woman's choice, not a command. justme |

Is this passage that some say it's ok to drink wine? Would just grape juice stored in wineskins ferment? Blessings. justme |

66 | KJV Only Help | Bible general Archive 4 | justme | 232899
ccfromsc: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. The King James only people are most always unmoveable and are determined never to give one inch in their point that all versions and translations are evil except the King James. I have debated, and had evidence that would have changed even King James himself, but over and over the results were the same. A few times some King james fan would not budge and refused to read what I had. I have had some say that some of the translators were homosexual, that non-believers slanted the words to belittle the Son of God. And the old stand by was the greek NT used was corrupted, that the KJV used the right one. In the end I came to the wisdom that the Lord would have me just love them and not to debate or dialogue the issue. It is unfruitful to try to show them their error, they generally just get mad and that is very unlike whar a christian should be or do. Blessings justme |

67 | what does the bible say about tatoos? | Lev 19:28 | justme | 232433
Popcorn33: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. I have dialogued about tatoo's on another Christian forum a number of times. Almost always the person wanting or actually having a tatoo, the answer "yes it's just fine", comes back with that verse in leviticus is in the old Testament and therefore it does not apply to us today. With that kind of reasoning, then why not say the Ten Commandments do not apply today? I hope you get my point, many Christians don't use the wisdom of the Holy Spirit in seeking wisdom and common sense. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Tells us we have been bought with the price, Jesus bought and paid our sin debt with His Blood and his death and ressurrection. In verse 19 we are told we are the Temple of the Holy Spirit. We often see tatoo's with satanic, deviant, macabre, pornographic, so called art work on non christians, and Christians who had tatoo's before they got saved. Some tatoo's defies the Holy Spirit. When Christians who get tatoo's either do not know or rejects being the temple of the Holy Spirit. Some have said "but its a christian tatoo. The Lord clearly left no exceptiom in Leviticus 19:28. I knew of a young man who had the symbol of the German Army in WW2 tatooed on the top of his head. He always shaved his head. After be surrendered to Christ he always wore his hair long enough to hide the tatoo. In closeing tatoos are wrong to have. A person should keep them covered or if he or she can afford to have it removed that would be the better option. lusyme |

68 | Does the Bible forbid one to swear upon | Matt 5:33 | justme | 232385
Karen418: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum, I wish it were for less serious conditions. The Bible Study Forum is not intended for counseling. However I will assist you with Scripture to answer your request. Matthew 5:33-37 is the verses on vows and taking oath's. The very odd thing is the Scripture you really need is just before this one. Matthew 5:31-32 is on divorce. Matthew 19:1-12 is also verse's on divorce. It seems there is game playing going on, when your husband allows you to take such a vow but for him it's too sacred. Unless you and your husband get into some Christian Counseling and get a hold on the hardness of heart this is going to be a rough road ahead for you both. May I suggest the pastor of the church you go to. You can call and see the pastor first to see is he is willing to help. Many people have endured unfaithfulness, and many seemingly no hope of any kind, and with the Lords help have been restored to a happy marriage. Matthew 19:26 assures with God nothing is impossible. Blessings. justme |

70 | Tattoos | Leviticus | justme | 232206
jwmx925: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. The OT has some verses that some say don't apply to us today. I think Leviticus 19:28Is in a section of Scripture that laws that are there for our own best good. Why would we think this verse does not apply to us today? The verse is not for our salvation, but for sorta of metamorphosis in our desire to fully commit outwardly to Christ. This of course brings the question of what does someone with tattoo's that are nasty or clearly not something a christian would not want exposed, do? Perhaps keep then covered, or more drasticly have them removed. I think even a christian Tattoo goes against the core of Leviticus 19:28. We do not ignore the ten Commandments because they are in the Old Testament, and neither should we ignore the verse in Leviticus. Sadly there are those who are Christians that have no tattoo's who go and get them. This gets down to what gives God glory? I beleieve not having a tattoo gives God the best glory. Circumcision was an act of obedience and sign of the Covenant. Today we have a sign circumcised heart Romans 2:29, Colossians 2:11. Today physucal circumcision of males is not for a mark of salvation, but by personal choice of the parents. There are some religions (Jews for one) who still preform circumcision as an essential of salvation. Blessings. justme |

72 | NIV...Gods...? | Bible general Archive 4 | justme | 232143
G Preston: I have a grandson whose name is Preston, mighty fine name. I would never stand to justify anything the NIV has put in print, this is especially the newest NIV. The people who put up the new NIV just took the Today NIV and basicly changed it's name to the 2000 NIV. At least that's how I thibk it came about. Who can produce a version of the Bible in less than 2 years? I consider the NIV of today just a pascifier for geting Christians in to Bible reading. The problem is people just stay in the NIV and don't grow into a solid translation like the NASB, KJV, NKJV, or the ESV, which are more literal and not so much made on dynamic thought for thought. My experience in Sunday School and Bible Studies are few realy dig into the Scripture, to the deapths where the solid truths behing the soft food is. I can see that you and others on this forum are far above thoes still being bottle fed. Blessings. justme |

73 | KJ Version | Bible general Archive 4 | justme | 232120
Gadrifter58: The KJV is written at a 12th to 13th grade reading of today. I grew up on the KJV and managed very well. But most everyone else did as well. Todat mush better translations like the NASB are far better in accuracy and use language that more people of today can read and understand. I believe the NASB is at the 10th grade level. The Niv is at the 6th grade reading level. News papers of today are at a 5th grade reading level. justme |

74 | Question on Hymn of Invitation tradition | Bible general Archive 4 | justme | 232119
rustic1959: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. You are indeed hitting upon a very tender spot that has been a life long subject I feel quite adamant about. In the movie FAITH LIKE POTATOES which is a true story, Angus Buchan is standing at the end of the sermon, and the pastor ask for those who whant to kow Christ to step out. There is no music, no high pressure twisting of words, and no inviting Jesus into your heart. This movie shows how a invitation should be done in my not so humble opinion. We submit our self, and surrender to Jesus. The invatation is a time for Jesus inviting us to surrender to his Lordship, and repenting of our sins. We begin by following His Commands, submiting to Jesus as Lord. Baptism, and being involved with a local church are parts of our submission. Responding to forgiveness of our sins is totally awesome, we respond to His Grace bu learning to love as we never knew before. God teaches us to walk by faith, learning to walk by faith takes not a few moments, but takes us s full life time. When Jesus said we must take up our cross, the cross He talks about is not on wheels, or power driven. Carring our cross is blood sweat and tears. I agree with you the invitation today is one in which the average person might well think we are DOING JESUS CHRIST A BIG FAVOR. How utterly twisted this is. The Scriptures call for us to surrender to Jesus Christ in humility. The Bible tells us He Choose us, we have done NOTHING to deserve salvation. Yes many many who make these man made invations are in reality inviting people to aJesus that will send then to the "pit", unless God extends his grace to them again. Thank you for bringing this subject up, maybe someone who failed to surrender to Jesus just might find the Jesus who loves and forgives, but also requires us to repent and prove we are so so in love with Him we are indeed following Him. What is proof that a persons salvation has seriour doubt is when someone says. "I love Jusus but have no use for the church". That is not salvation talking! justme |

76 | What does God say in regards to Masons? | Bible general Archive 4 | justme | 232065
Prophetess3: This is a rather serious issue, and some who say they are christians are members of the Masons. Ther are many christians who strongly believe the Masons are a cult. For me to fully give many details as to why some believe Masons are a cult would take a huge amount of time. So I will give you a few basic things to look up and follow up on. In Revelation9:11 the secret word of Masons is abaddon. Abaddon is the angel of the abyss. That is hell Abaddon. In Proverbs 15:11 again Abaddon is used in connection with a reference to a place of distruction. In amny placed satanic symbols and words related to evil areused bu Masons. The promises Masons take are made with the threat of death if they ever brake their oth. If you are really interested may I suggest worldwideweekend.com and there si very detailed information in their reference material or dvd's. My belief is most Masons do not really know how Masonisn conflict with Scripture. justme |

79 | rapture of the church: true or false | Bible general Archive 4 | justme | 231641
Pmaster1955: This study of the "rapture" has been debated more now than ever before. I too have Hanks book, and Hank leaves some questions left unanswered. at least for my wife and me. Hank is so determined that there in really no view better than his, that he has offended some solid Bible schollars, and that's rude in my opinion. I do agree with a good part of what he says however. My personal view is than any view on the taking of us christians, must be in line with what Jesus Christ said himself, in Matthew 24. I do think Darby's view has some serious flaws, and many good preachers have been accepted Darby's theory while in Seminary. Dallas Theological Seminary teaches the Rapture and most graduate believing Darby's theory. Dallas is a very good seminary. I had a proffesor who said that if you just sat down to come to a understanding of the rapture theory. by just reading the Bible there was no way you could come close to Darby's theory. I agree with that statement. I believe the very best understanding of the return of Jesus Christ is.....TO BE READY. JESUS SAID "NO ONE KNOWS BUT THE FATHER" So spending time defending Darby's or any ones elses theory is pretty fruitless. I do believe it is important to know what you believe about the return of Jesus Christ, and be able to defend it with Scripture, but being offensive and dogmatic like Hank and others is just plain rude. If someone is a teacher or preacher dealing with this subject, of the return of Jesus Christ, it might be well to present the four major views and give the weakness and the strong points of each view. That would be teaching not craming down a view point. In the end, then we will know for sure and Jesus may well shock us all. Blessings. |

HJW: It is not a good idea. The age difference is too wide. Just by the sounds of it I am pretty sure you are a man, right? I am very sure someone closer to your own age will have more in common with you, unless this is a lustful thing you are trying to do. This is a Bible Study forum, and as such questiona like this are discouraged. |
