5742 | What kind of death is caused by sin?? | Rev 22:15 | Searcher56 | 224362
Scripture ... Gen 2:17, 3:3..23-24; Eph 2:1-10, Rev 20-22 ... God's day to you, dlane705, and welcome to the SBF, Sin separates us from God - spiritual death. We see this from Genesis to Revelation. To physically die one has no sensation ... but to be physically and spiritually separated is a great pain. Think about the pain when you are apart from a loved one - with no contact. If you were dead, it wouldn't bother you ... but when alive, I have found it to be tough. What do you think? Searcher |

5743 | why was the Bible not added to in 2000yr | Rev 22:18 | Searcher56 | 10681
Chris, The simple answer is that God is the author (2Ti 3:16), so man cannot add to the Word, because he thinks he has something to add. God's name has not stop. It is bring brought to unreached people, including young poeple. The Old Testament was closed with Malachi. I think Jesus sealed it (Mat 5:17-19). Some say evidence points to the completion of the OT canon by a Synod at Jabneh (or Jamnia) between 90 and 100 A.D. The the councils of Hippo (393 AD) and Carthage (397 AD), ratified the New Testament canon in its present form. Steve |

Breezy, The following are needed: -Prayer. Ask the Lord to clear your mind of all else. This is key. -Plan or purpose. It is easiest to study a book of the Bible, so you know where to start. -Persistence. As said, start small. But, stay at the task for that time. The Lord may lead you to spend more time. -Priority. Always do it the same time daily, seven days a week. Steve |

5745 | Is God's Word Complete ? | Rev 22:18 | Searcher56 | 32962
Robert, as you see there are other strings on this verse. My two cents is that we are selfish and therefore are not satisfied that the Bible is complete ... then when someone tells us something "new" we like it and follow after another god. S

5747 | Why not sentences | Rev 22:18 | Searcher56 | 97067
Stephen Langton divided the Bible into chapters in 1227 ... Robert Stephanus divided the verses for his Greek New Testament in 1551. You are correct ... one may read a verse, or even a chapter and miss the context. Reading the whole book may have been the author's inention ... with the expection of Psalms, which are a collection ....read the entire Psalm. The chapter and verse divisions, while they cause some problem, they are are convenient for reference and quotation purposes. Source: http://www.blueletterbible.org/faq/nbi/273.html |

5748 | Please I'm looking for your opinion! | Rev 22:18 | Searcher56 | 101990
This is basically true for the Western world ... we have changed what the Bible says and on (6) we need to be careful - I have seen churches grow in width and not depth (for each person) ... I am waiting for us to be persecuted, like our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world ... then we may see many (most) flee, because they don't truly believe.

5750 | Justify Leviticus 20:13 | Rev 22:19 | Searcher56 | 60270
So you want to remove Leviticus 20:13? Are there others? I suggest you read the above verse. The Bible may be offenisive, because men want to have it their way a.k.a. sin -- it is never archaic. Christainity is not "a way of controlling the masses and preventing creative, independent thought." It is a way of life, because of what God did for me and my accepting the gift of eternal life.
