481 | What if you don't obey that command? | Rom 6:4 | inmyheart | 56410
"This is love for God: to obey His commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who belives that Jesus is the Son of God." 1 John 5:3-5 (NIV) In the world I never obeyed anyone or anything. And I reaped the benefits of doing so. God speaks to me through His Word, that His commands are not burdensome, and by being obedient I become an overcomer. I already know the what if's, and its consequences, Now I'm "doing" and receiving His blessings. I like what is written in Romans 12:2, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will." (NIV) You made that first step, Now go all the way, and come out of that, "what if" and be transformed by the renewing of your mind. God bless |

482 | Is tithing just O.T. or N.T. as well? | Matt 23:23 | inmyheart | 56407
Your view of myself has no effect on how God loves me or thinks of me. Just because you picked up some book somewhere and you believe that you don't have to tithe, well you go ahead and believe your doctrine. For me to argue that tithing is ordained from God, would prove to be futile. For the last time, you stated that tithing is of the law, my statement to you was that Abraham was before the law, and he tithe, period. God bless |

483 | When does newness of life start? | Rom 6:4 | inmyheart | 56313
Praise God for your faithfulness in studying the Word of God. John 3:5 Jesus responds to Nicodemus question from verse 4, Jesus reply to him shatters the Jewish assuption that their racial identity (old birth) assured them a place in God's Kingdom. The Jews were looking for the Messiah to bring in a new world in which Jews would be pre-eminet. But Jesus came to bring new life, in which "HE" would be preeminent. Yes, I believe that we should be obident to God's command to be baptized, to bury that old nature to walk anew in the Spirit, for we walk by faith and not by sight. Is it a requirement to be baptized to be saved? No. Should you be obident to God and be baptized, yes. God Bless |

484 | Is tithing just O.T. or N.T. as well? | Matt 23:23 | inmyheart | 56305
Well, it's about time, you finally got it! As I told you the first time I didn't want to creat an thread on this subject. Yes, I have learned to tithe. Now good night and God bless. |

485 | When does newness of life start? | Rom 6:4 | inmyheart | 56303
Tell that to the thief who died on the cross w/Jesus! Come on, be real, Life starts when you confess your sins and ask Jesus into your life as Lord and Savior. The day I invited Jesus into my life, He added my name into the book of Life, not the book of Baptism! God Bless, yes I'm baptized! :) |

486 | new man old looks | Bible general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 56298
Hello to you too, That's an awesome ministry, however I personally don't know anyone involved with this ministry. I have spent six years, in and out, in the county jail system. Tattoo's that cover most of the body, is from the prison system. tattoo's ususally tell a story, of prison life or the gang they belong to and etc. It doesn't matter what background a person comes from, we all need Jesus as Lord and Savior. When that happens our lives change. 2Corinthians5:17-18 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! v.18, All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:"(NIV) This person whom you speak of, God's purpose for his life was not for him to set in prison or cover his body with tattoo's, I'm sure his family suffers too. His life is now fulfilled and God will take him to the destiny that He has prepared for him. "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. [But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead]." Philippians 3:12-13 (NIV) Another good scripture to share with this brother is Jeremiah 29:11. I want to thank you for taking the time to reach out to the forgotten ones behind prison walls. I'm sure he is looking at your life as an example of what God can do! God bless you real good |

487 | Is tithing just O.T. or N.T. as well? | Matt 23:23 | inmyheart | 56239
Please read my second post to you. You still prove nothing. Tithing is of God. Some (like yourself) may contend, however, that the law was abrogated under the Gospel. If so, how much of the law, and in what sense? Is the law so abrogated as that we may now, at our pleasure, murder, lie, and steal? Have we not already seen that Christ came to fulfill the law--to confirm it to the least iota? Matthew 5:17-18, and fulfilling is the perfecting, not the destruction, of anything. hence the payment of tithes and offerings applicable to the support of the ministry, and to other religious and charitable works, is clearly the duty of Christians, unless it can be shown that Christ repealed God's law previously promulgated. Right giving is a part of right living. The living is not right when the giving is wrong. The giving is wrong when we steal God's portion to spend on ourselves. God Bless |

488 | Is smoking a sin? | 2 Pet 2:19 | inmyheart | 56176
Lee-Roy, I suggest that you seek others who have been in your shoes, in your fellowship or church that you go to. Thank God that you desperately want to stop, this is the first step in quitting, and believe me God will be with you through each step of the way, until you are delivered from this addiction. My wife and I have been serving the Lord now for two years. My wife has been a smoker for over forty years! She kept pursuing the Lord and she has been delivered from that habit now for nine months, Praise God. God is not a respector of persons, He'll do it for you also, Keep walking in faith. God bless "That your faith may not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God" 1Corinthians2:5(KJV) |

489 | Is oral sex among a married couple a sin | Bible general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 56089
Kalos, Thank you for not calling me a Pharisee, and you better not ever call me one either :) I'm not building fences around fences. This sex act is not natural (this I know from past experience), the things that go through one's mind is anything but holy. Anyone who has been delivered from this will tell you the same thing I am. However, not to make an issue out of this topic, let's not forget the one's who are struggling with sex issues in their lives. Grace to you also, continue to be a blessing |

490 | Is tithing just O.T. or N.T. as well? | Matt 23:23 | inmyheart | 56085

491 | Is tithing just O.T. or N.T. as well? | Matt 23:23 | inmyheart | 55867
I see that you are still mind set on building a thread. It is quite obvious you are not a tither. I am. Now you want to take a stand and have me "prove" that tithe is the teaching of Christ, but not only to you, but now you want to include the members of this forum also! What you sow is what you reap, do you want to nickel and dime the Lord, and receive a nickel and dime blessing from your tithing! Once again, you stated that tithing was under the law of Moses, I'm saying Abraham was before Moses, and he tithe. Malachi 3:8-12, says will a man rob God? yet you rob me. "But you ask, 'How do we rob you?'(sound familiar),In tithes and offerings. and it goes on to mention the blessings that will come. Now a tithe is a tenth of all of your income before you spend any of it, it belongs to the Lord. Read Haggi 2:5-9. verse 8 says that the silver and gold belongs to the Lord. Leviticus 27:30, the tithe is holy Psalms 2:6-8, God gave everything to Jesus. All that is on the earth and in the earth, now this is a true saying, if we are to tithe to God, and God gave everything to Jesus, who are we tithing to! How does tithing prove you put God first? Tithing means that you give "the first" ten percent of your wealth, before you spend anything, you're obident to His principle. Time and space prevents me from posting all the principle of tithing. Jesus came to fulfill the law, not abolish it. God bless and thanks for all of your replies, continue to be a blessing to others. |

492 | Is tithing just O.T. or N.T. as well? | Matt 23:23 | inmyheart | 55755
First of all I never gave you a challenge. I asked you a question. If you are mind set on not giving the tithe, so be it. I believe in tithing, I believe it was ordained by God, but for us to build a thread here on who is right, well, in not right. My statement is, tithe was before the law, period. We serve a God that does not change, and although we do not live under the law, the law is still in effect today. Thank God, you, don't have to kill anyone to give to God. God bless |

494 | Is oral sex among a married couple a sin | Bible general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 55616
Grace and Peace, For everything that is Holy, Righteous and Pure the devil has put an opposite effect. If you were to ask the marijuana users why they smoke it, one of their reasons that they always use is, because God created every herb yelding plant for man's use, now is that ridiculous or what. And for someone, such as yourself, begins to ask: Where in the Bible (book, chapter, verse) is oral sex PLAINLY prohibited?, this is dumbfounded. You mention that you neither defend nor attack the practice of oral sex, well, I'm not insulting your understanding, but obviously you never practice this act prior to knowing our Lord, or you wouldn't be making that statement. I believe that satan has twisted the minds of belivers to say, "as long as both spouses agree, it's permissable," this is a lie from the pit of hell. This is not an love act, it is purely demonic, it is nothing but lust. My friend, I thank God you don't know more than you do of this topic. We are men of God proclaiming the good news of the gospel, that Jesus came into the world to save sinners. "Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people." Eph. 5:1-2 (NIV) "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself." Eph.5:25-28 (NIV). Thank you for taking the time to review this post. I stand on God's truth, and not the schemes of the devil. God's blessings |

495 | Should We Get Married Again? | Matt 19:4 | inmyheart | 55506
How can there be an reconciliation if there wasn't a seperation. However why reconcil when the head doesn't want to be the covering over you. Your husband has issues that must be delt with. You mention that he has control over his addiction, if this is true he'll fail. Only God has control, only through His Son Jesus that former things are put behind, and all things become new. Denial is the biggest obstacle that will prevent a recovering addict from going on to a new life in the Lord. My suggestion to you is that before you begin to deal with any other issues, that you seek Christian council, from your pastor, etc. There are many Christian support groups available. Dueteronomy 30:19 says to choose life, Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. God loves you |

496 | IS TONGUES FOR TODAY? | 1 Cor 14:5 | inmyheart | 55357
Aspilos, Once again, thank you for your prompt reply. I agree with you concerning the day of Pentecost, that there were devout unbelieving Jews. What would be the difference in this present day. There are many unbelievers, Jews and Gentile's, so wouldn't tongues be for a sign today? Once again, taking the gospel to the lost so they may have a relationship with God through our Lord and Savior, Jesus, is the only requirement for salvation. God bless you, talk to you tomorrow, I'm in the middle of a study. Be a blessing! |

499 | IS TONGUES FOR TODAY? | 1 Cor 14:5 | inmyheart | 55050
Joe-- My very first post to this thread, I mentioned that this topic has been well debated! I for one happen to believe in "all" the gifts. I believe the evidence of the Holy Spirit in a person's life is Love. Salvation is Romans 10:9-10 A person can be saved without being baptized (however, I don't know why a person wouldn't want to), or without speaking in tongues (again, I don't know why one wouldn't want to). You know how I view this site, a great oppurtunity to grow. I have read some great wisdom and revelation here. I take what I want and leave the rest. The other reason I enjoy this site is, it's a great place to win souls. And what I mean is this, there are so many brother and sister's struggling and they come here, do we dare shoot them down or do we (we, figure of speach) utilize the five fold ministry, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ, as written in Eph.413. I live in a big city, and not everybody attends the same (Christian) fellowship, and many have different doctrines, however God loves them, so do I. Thanks for your response, I'm here to study and Lord willing, lend a encouraging hand. God bless. |

500 | Can a person push God too far?? | Luke | inmyheart | 54940
justmeagain, My friend you have a purpose in your life, you are not here by accident. You have a destiny, and God wants to take you there. The things we struggle with is needless, there is absolutely no benefit for yourself living outside the will of God. The word in Proverbs 24:16 says that a just man falls seven times, and rises up again. He is falling "towards", not falling "back". Luke 22:31-32, "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned(KJV says converted) back, strengthen your brothers." We know Peter goes on to cut the soldiers ear off and denies the Lord three times (he fell). In Acts 2:41, we see Peter standing strong, leading about three thousand to the Lord. My friend, it's not about how far we can push God, it's about how close we can be with Him. It's about a total committment, all of your life. Apart from Him you can do nothing. Romans 12: 1-2, read it, pray over it. Remember, you are the extension of His Love. God bless, God really does love you! |
