44 | Are we looking for a way or the Way? | Matt 7:13 | BibleVerse | 143565
(1 John 2:15-17 NIV) Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the Father but from the world. (17) The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. |

45 | Paul discourages marriage? | 1 Cor 7:1 | BibleVerse | 142337
The Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Bible, says: “Most, if not all the apostles had been married, as Peter certainly was.” In evidence of Peter’s marriage, this Catholic book cites two texts: Matthew 8:14 and 1 Corinthians 9:5. The first speaks of Peter’s “mother-in-law.” In the second Paul says: “Have we not . . . the right to take a Christian woman round with us, like all the other apostles and the brothers of the Lord and Cephas?”—The Catholic Jerusalem Bible. As indicated in this Bible verse, who had wives? “The other apostles.” “The brothers of the Lord.” “Cephas.” Who was Cephas? None other than the apostle Peter, who the Catholic religion teaches was the first pope - and Paul said Peter was married. The Roman Catholic Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Bible, referring to the Bible writings of Jesus’ apostles, says: “St. Paul makes it quite clear that no Christian is obliged to practice v. [virginity].” It adds: “Celibacy of the clergy is nowhere demanded... in the NT [New Testament].” The Doc presents a reasonable view of 1 Cor 7:1-2. |

46 | When was the Book of Job first published | Job | BibleVerse | 142324
Moses is generally credited with writing the account of Job’s experiences. He could have known about Job when he spent 40 years in Midian and may have heard of Job’s final outcome and death when Israel was near Uz toward the end of its wilderness journey. If Moses completed the book of Job about the time of Israel’s entry into the Promised Land in 1473 B.C.E. (probably not long after Job’s death), this would place the time of Job’s trial about 1613 B.C.E., for Job lived 140 years after his trial was over.—Job 42:16, 17.

49 | Moses and the Promise Land | Ps 106:33 | BibleVerse | 139655
Psalm 106:33 33 for they rebelled against the Spirit of God, and rash words came from Moses' lips. With angry words, Moses called attention to himself and Aaron rather than to the One who really could miraculously provide water from a rock. Thus, just before Moses died at the border of the Promised Land, God referred to the incident at Kadesh-barnea and indicated that Moses’ error was that he failed to ‘sanctify God before the eyes of the people' and as a result would not be permitted to enter the promised land. However, the verses that follow indicate that God wanted Moses to see the promise land on behalf of the children of Israel, which no doubt comforted him given his role of leading them there. Numbers 27:12-14 12. "And the Lord said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel. 13. And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered. 14. For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin." |

51 | justice and righteous in Amos | Amos 3:1 | BibleVerse | 138996
On the matter of justice, the scriptures in Amos 3:1-6:14 indicate that although God favored Israel, justice dictates that Israel be held to a special accountability; God thus holds an accounting for false religious practices at Bethel and defrauding by luxury lovers in Samaria. God urges Israel to 'Hate what is bad, and love what is good'. |

52 | Did Jesus have brothers and/or sisters? | NT general Archive 1 | BibleVerse | 138024
Jesus has, at the very least, six younger brothers and sisters. Mt 13:55-56 (The Ampified Bible) "Is this not the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary? And, are not His brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And do not all his sisters live here among us? Where then did this Man get all this?" So, thus far we have James, Joseph, Simon and Judas for the boy's (brother's) names. Mark 6:3 Indicates that Jesus had at least 2 sisters, "and are not His sisters among us?". Don't find names listed for the sisters. If I have overlooked their names, please advise... thank you. |
