41 | Spirit Baptism | Acts 8:12 | prayon | 145230
Greetings Iktoose, Being baptized with the Spirit is like water baptism. You only need to be baptized once. After that the Spirit is active within you and you will experience the Holy Spirit working within you over and over. He can show Himself in many different ways. Sometimes I can be praising God in a room where it is extremely hot and I will start getting 'chill bumps' that start at the top of my head and go to the bottom of my feet over and over. Sometimes it will be by speaking in tongues. All of a sudden words will start coming out of my mouth and I have no idea of what I am saying or the meaning. Sometimes it is by feeling an overwhelming alarm that I shouldn't do something I am about to do like drive down a certain street. Sometimes I will get an urgent need to prayer for someone. When you are ask Christ to come into your life and you are 'saved' you receive the Holy Spirit. When you are baptized in the Spirit it is as if you give Him the permission or ability to totally take control of your life. I hope this makes sense. Feel free to ask me any questions. prayon |

Last storm they tell me that there were over 300 wrecks! And by the way - since you agreed to take the rain would you mind taking the twisters too? ;o) prayon

Greetings Ed, np using my post - I don't mind. Your statement "Sure people get hurt, and that is a shame but to use it as excuse to justify being out of relationship with God is without support" I don't agree with you 100 percent - 90 percent yes but not 100 percent. I know of someone who loved church - who was raised in the church and loved God. They went to a church and got extremely hurt and offended by the pastor. This pastor (a male) who claimed to be so righteous but yet made a pass at the person I know who is also a male. He felt so violated by this pastor that he did not trust any pastor anymore - which is a shame. It has taken years for this person to go back to church but the whole time he kept up his relationship with God by prayer, Christian music and occationally a bible study that was not a church along with associating with other Christians. It is a horrible fact but there are a few rotten pastors heading churches that are giving most pastors a very bad image. Agape, prayon |

Greetings EdB, Hank and Searcher sorta said the same thing you did - please read my replies to them. I agree that forgiveness was available to them from God although I have a hunch that it was not available from the church. The "church had not pray for this couple and noone from the church came to invite the young lady to church". How do you welcome someone in the church when you don't even invite them to come? prayon |

52 | What do you think? | Luke 6:42 | prayon | 144887
The thing is that we are to condemn the sin - not the sinner. I think that it is possible to judge that a person is sinning and approach them in a loving manner and still not condemn the person at the same time. Too many times we judge the person as being evil and unworthy because of the sin that they are doing or in. That is why so many people refuse to go to church, etc. In confronting the person I think that it is very important to remember that God loves the person and Jesus gave His life for this person. What else is important to remember is that Satan is a deceiver and this person is being deceived by Satan into believing that he is not commiting a sin. The couple was definitely in the wrong and was living in sin without a doubt. I just have a problem with the way they approached him (read my reply to Hank). prayon |

53 | What do you think? | Luke 6:42 | prayon | 144886
Hi Hank - In reading the scenario I think the church was in the wrong. First, it says the "church had a vote and decided that they had to move". Why did it take the church to vote? The preacher should of dealt with the situation. He knew about the situation, Shouldn't he of gone to see both of them on his own without the church forcing him (and to me that seems like what happened) and at least tried to council them instead of saying that their "sin was the number one sin greater even than murder." Where does the bible even say this? Second - "The church did not pray for this couple" - why not? That should of been one of the first things they did - before even contacting him. Third - "no one from the church came to invite the young lady to church". Why not? Possibly because they felt she was not worth it? The preacher did ask the young man to come back to church "but he no longer feels welcome". Why not? Something must of made him feel that way. I just thank God that he didn't do like some would and leave the church but instead found a church that he felt comfortable in. I am not saying that the couple were right - they weren't. Pure and simple they were living in sin. prayon By the way would you please call the rain back over to your side of the country? It is getting ridiculous over here..... |

54 | How could Esau forgive Jacob? | Gen 33:4 | prayon | 144859
Greetings searcher, The bible does not say specifically that Esau forgave Jacob but in Gen 33:10 it does say that Jacob told Esau I've seen your face as if I were seeing the face of God, and yet you welcomed me so warmly." If there were unforgiveness he could not of see the "face of God" in his face. prayon

LOL! It is about the same now that I think of it. I would further add that it is more akin to wrestling a pig in a pig sty tht is so full you couldn't put another pig in it! The ONLY reason I end up in them is because I head security for a ministry that puts on Christian concerts and I go in there to help keep things them under control. 59 | Which book in the Bible do I commence | Bible general Archive 2 | prayon | 141412
Hi, When I went to ministry college one of the things I had to do was read the entire bible. A good bit of it I listened to on tape in the car while driving. I had a version that had some sound effects with it and it was great to listen to. People learn in different ways, so I believe that if you learn better by listening than by reading then there is nothing wrong with listening to the tapes. I am adding from Matt 6 concerning the Lords prayer from the Message Bible to let you know why I think it is a great book to read to understand. Have a blessed day! prayon Mat 6:1 "Be especially careful when you are trying to be good so that you don't make a performance out of it. It might be good theater, but the God who made you won't be applauding. Mat 6:2 "When you do something for someone else, don't call attention to yourself. You've seen them in action, I'm sure--'playactors' I call them--treating prayer meeting and street corner alike as a stage, acting compassionate as long as someone is watching, playing to the crowds. They get applause, true, but that's all they get. Mat 6:3 When you help someone out, don't think about how it looks. Mat 6:4 Just do it--quietly and unobtrusively. That is the way your God, who conceived you in love, working behind the scenes, helps you out. Mat 6:5 "And when you come before God, don't turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat? Mat 6:6 "Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. Mat 6:7 "The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They're full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Mat 6:8 Don't fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. Mat 6:9 With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: Our Father in heaven, Reveal who you are. Mat 6:10 Set the world right; Do what's best-- as above, so below. Mat 6:11 Keep us alive with three square meals. Mat 6:12 Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others. Mat 6:13 Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil. You're in charge! You can do anything you want! You're ablaze in beauty! Yes. Yes. Yes. Mat 6:14 "In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can't get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. Mat 6:15 If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God's part. |
