41 | the SBF what can we do? | John 17:17 | justme | 242293
ED" Amen and Amen. Let us pray that there is an awakening is those who once were here and those presently active in the SBF. Pray that there will be a sensitivity within all those involved to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Lockman may well own this SBF but it is really the Lords. Let each of us welcome each other with brotherly love and visitors with a genuine kindness, and openness that Jesus Christ would do. justme |

42 | the SBF what can we do? | John 17:17 | justme | 242282
Doc: Perhaps some would say they have prayer for a long time already. I can't help but see how many were very regular in posting but are no longer here. I am deeply grieved that so many in the past who put so much into the SBF are gone. I remember Hank, and for many years spent hour upon hour into building this forum, I have been with this forum from 2000, others like EdB have been from the beginning, and so have others. I am deeply concerned for the SBF. One concern I have is we all knew who the moderator was when hank was moderator. Now it's something nobody cares to say. I wonder why? The final authority is sometimes who is the firmist or cuts the conversation when it gets too war. Sometimes issues need to be dialogued out for the Lords glory so we can see love at work. I am not ashamed to admit when I am wrong, or to say I am sorry, or even to say I admire someone. I am not ashamed to call for prayer as well. Why are prayer request not encouraged? I know this is a Bible Forum, but we get to know each other and it's nice to know others are joining us in prayer. Well at least I think so. I ask again what can be done to improve our SBF? justme |

44 | PRYING TO THE HOLY SPIRIT ? | Bible general | justme | 242139
EdB: Dear Brother, I too had never heard of praying to the Holy Spirit until a somewhat recently. But the topic was not asked of me so I mulled it over in my mind and gave into some basic research and came up rather blank. So thank you for your input.
45 | When will the Antichrist come ? | 1 John 2:18 | justme | 241830
Doc: I just this morning came to this thread. I read it from start to finish. This is filled with opinion, and lacks a genuine view of Scripture. Calling John MacArthur an anti-Christ violates John 13:34,35. Often when someone calls other's faults into the open or points out what they say is a sin in someone else, it's really the accuser that has the very issues they are accusing others of. I find some who wrote so harshly, have missed he true Gospel "boat" altogether. (my word picture) Finding a response that represents the way Jesus himself would reply, might well be no response at all but allow a person to prove they are foolish as Proverbs describes. in some verses. Unless Scriptural proof is used, it's just opinion. Even then we as brothers and sisters can disagree, when verses are dealing with minor issues. Foot washing falls into that kind of debate. But the essentials, or core Doctrines of the Scripture there is no room for debate and even then answering with gentleness often is best. Blessings. justme |

46 | I Have Not Sent Them | Jer 27:15 | justme | 241823
Doc: I watched Strange Fire different speakers on You tube. After watching the speakers, and I watch John MacArthur, and record his messages. If fact My wife and I had considered going to His college, but we could not arrange our finances to afford it. We bought STRANGE FIRE, and I had to re-read portions several times. However, I doubt any genuine mature Christian could disagree with the examples MacArthur presented of greedy hypocrites. Some being as glaring examples like Benny Hinn, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, and those who run Trinity Broadcasting Network. These are glaring examples, the ones who just slip under being noticed are my personal concern. There are those who connect themselves with helping the suffering Jews, and mix Jewish and Christian Theology and using verses from the Old Testament as if to give proof the Jews will also be given a second chance and therefore we should consider the Jewish people as brothers, and we Christians must give this Jewish Christian money to feed these poor people. The overhead, some groups have must be checked out before being involved. Not only these groups but when the money the people running any charity get is more that about ten percent and salaries are clearly outrageous, it's a sham. There are Ministries like Dr. Charles Stanley's that are clearly ministry. There are a good number like Dr. Stanley. As long as our church home is not suffering because we neglect proper Biblical giving to it first. Every false ministry is centered around money, becoming wealthy. that and being held in high respect by titles like Prophet, Cardinal, Father, The Very Reverend so and so, all these are titles misused to gain forced respect, and to command a large income. How many genuine Pastors income is so small, and often Pastors are Bi Vocational, and there is no such thing as a part time pastor. But often the general public thinks the Pastor gets all the offering on Sunday. I know this as I served four churches as Bi Vocational. What is sad is he honest, loving, hard working Pastor's who serve with great love, seldom get brought out into the general public's eye. Because these false teachers, and phony preachers get most all of the attention. STRANGE FIRE gives due attention for most Christians and non Christians to be alert to some serious counterfeit so called Christians. To be honest I have not cone to the total agreement with some of his conclusions, in exemption of some people as genuine Christians, that may be stepping out to far. Justme |

47 | Is It You, Doc? | Bible general | justme | 241802
Doc: I believe the guidelines say " Postings must not be intended as a personal attack on other users of this forum. They must not be submitted as an effort to foster debates, arguments, divisiveness, ill-will, dissension or disruptions to this forum." Without wanting to cause a problem for anyone in the SBF, and with the utmost respect for our host, Lockman. I deeply sad that the very things the guidelines restrict, have happened to me , and Iam wounded deeply, this was permitted to occur more than once. justme |

49 | What Did Judas Do to be called Traitor? | Luke 6:16 | justme | 241775
Jerimiah: I sincerely thought I understood what you were saying. By your statement now I surely have misunderstood that you had strong feelings about the moderators and Lockman. So my sincere misunderstanding about what you were communicating is clearly my mistake for not understanding you more clearly and better. It is clear I have failed, and have not measured up to your standards. I fully understand if the Lord has directed you to brake fellowship with me. I quite honestly admit I do fall pretty much into mainstream Orthodox Christianity So perhaps I have different views that are not in your favor. I quite honestly think my gifts in the Body of Christ and the Church are more in line with the toe nail on the littlest toe. So my worth is very small. I sincerely an trying to grow, and perhaps someday I will achive to be a more acceptable Christian. Justme |

50 | What Did Judas Do to be called Traitor? | Luke 6:16 | justme | 241774
Jerimiah: You indeed have a unique understanding about Judas. In sincere Christian love I mean no harm to you. If you think your study on the salvation of Judas is backed by Scripture, I personally have never heard or read such a conclusion. However, in the end judas like me and the rest of the world will face Jesus Christ, my prayer is He will welcome me into His heaven. There is nothing I have done to merit Heaven, it is the Grace, and Mercy, that Jesus paid the price for my sins, and I have repented, that permit me, a wretched sinner, th enter His heaven. I find no place in the Gospels that Judas did anything but feel sadness and guilt, and that friend is not repentance. Only the Father knows for sure where Judas is,, but the WORD indicates Judas is not with Jesus now. justme |

jerremish: I watch a tv program WRETCHED. The host might call your attitude "snarky" Frankly you push the limits, and it's almost like you are mocking the host of this forum, Lockman, and even the moderators who so generously give of the time to keep some form of kindness, and within basic Biblical Doctrines. In my nearly 14 years on this forum, when I see the red "Note to viewers" to me it means a person is very close to a slippery slope that is almost in violation of forum guidelines. For me personally your seem to be stirring things just to see how far you can go. I sincerely hope I have the wrong opinion. Proverbs has many sayings about being a wise man, I try to read then often so I am not too abrasive to my fellow brothers and sisters on SBF. justme |

53 | difference in a Christians funeral? | Bible general | justme | 241637
EdB: I have instructed my family and pastor I want the Christian flag placed on my casket. As well I want a pine box made by my friends who are Mennonite the ones that use horse and buggies. We have a few close friends who are Mennonites. My wife and I are called English. We have nurtured our friendship for nearly 18 years. We have been blessed by our unique relationship. They have agreed to make my very simple casket, and to use their horse and buggy funeral carriage. I have instructed my pastor what I want to be said. I will also have he Military part as the final part at the burial. I feel the funeral industry has made death such a money making time to drain the family, and put the family into debt for years of payments, that is a shame. I think. I have done enough funerals and seen family's spend money for a special pillow, or brass, and costly fine woods, brass vaults, super sealing caskets, even talking pictures of the person buried there. I want to GLORIFY JESUS CHRIST even in my funeral. I love what Ruth Graham did with a simple casket, and with the words "end of construction, thank you for your patients". Iwould never tell my family not to cry, as that is good grief. I am not in a hurry to go to be with Jesus as I have many friends to still tell them about Jesus Christ, but that's under His control. Blessings EdB justme For me I am with Jesus and my body will wait for Jesus return. |

54 | HCSB what's your opinion? | Bible general | justme | 241635
Jeremiah: The problem I have in any dialogue with a KJV only believer is there in no dialogue. You have made up you mind that all other versions are flawed. There is no amount of proof to even slightly cause you to rethink your KJV only solid thinking. I have given up wasting my time trying to dialogue with KJV only thinkers. There is ample material in the search box if you want to learn more. justme |

55 | HCSB what's your opinion? | Bible general | justme | 241600
EdB: I am still reading and carefully comparing verses in several ways. I doubt very seriously anything I am aware of today, for being accurate is better in my opinion, than the NASB. The HCSB is less wordy, and in some places gives a clearer meaning. At that's my view now. I will keep you informed , and dear brother, a blessed Christmass. justme |

56 | HCSB what's your opinion? | Bible general | justme | 241546
EdB: dear brother, have you actually got a chance to read a HCSB? I bought one and we have tried to look for glaring passages that most liberal Bibles use. and so far we have not found such problems. The list of those involved with translating are very conservative people. Dallas Seminary is greatly represented, and a good number of SB Seminaries. So with that the Sunday School Board should be pleased. I was so very displeased with the "New NIV", I could not in good faith ever again give it any approval. My wife and I will endeavor to do our duty and go over the HCSB abs we shall see, Thanks for your return post. merry, blessed Christmas EdB. justme |

57 | The GENEVA BIBLE anything of interest? | Bible general | justme | 241381
EdB: Thank you. I have never actually read one, only different verses that someone has used in a quote. I have gone to a site and it allows me to read the books and chapters. I have read the history and those early settlers who came to America for genuine religious freedom, rejected the KJB. In my sorta research of my own, the first Bible printed in the USA was a GENEVA Bible. Christians were so hungry and even starved for a Bible many, many gave all they ouwed to have a copy of the Word of God. Today I sincerely doubt that most so called believers know where Acts is say nothing about Ruth, or 1 Kings. When I worked for Zondervan when Pat Zondervan was alive, I sold a Bible reading plan for families and schools, and other uses full people called THE BOOK OF LIFE. In the companies research they found very few Christians read the Bible even once a month. The Bible is the worlds best selling book, but the worlds least read. With a Bible for just about every occupation you can think of, and translations in almost uncountable languages, and numerous English versions, with many slanted to every group from homosexual, to liberal, conservative, and every denomination, yet people just are too lazy to read the Bible. There are just a few Bibles that are as close to the original thoughts of those inspired writers. Proudly the NASB is tops on my list. The one that most of my fellow believers that know me are rather surprised is the NKJV. I read it for contrast and a fresh read of what I read as a child and partly into adult years. I have come to dislike the NIV even the 1984 version. I have a ESV, but with the National Counsel of Churches approval I have deep feelings against the NCOC therefore I limit my reading of the ESV. My only desire is for people to read the BIBLE. But here again even the Muslims do not read the Qur'an or if they did then they would reject the instructions to kill infidels meaning Jews and Christians. Surely women would see how they are to be treated like slaves. So even with people calling them self a Christian does not make them a "FOLLOWER" as Jesus called genuine believers to be in order really saved and going to be a born again believer going to heaven to be forever with the Lord Jesus, and the Loving Almighty Father God. |

58 | buying something u know u will refund? | OT general | justme | 241203
Beja: Blessings dear brother: Just a word to say yes buying something, with the intention of using it and after you got what you needed for a product, is in my humble opinion a sin. I know of a large store that sells Coleman air bed matresses. People use to buy then and use them for vacation, and return them after they got home. Due to the huge abuse of dishonest people the policy now is NO RETURNS on air mattresses. Who wants a used air mattress? The huge financial loss in this one item was unbelievable. There are many more items like this that store owners deal with all year long. As Christians this is telling a lie, and a form of stealing. I am sure many of have never thought about this in depth. Blessings Beja. justme |

60 | ... | Matt 5:29 | justme | 241202
Movingon: I would like to gently give you my opinion, and I mean no snarky attitude. I have been with the Study Bible forum for a good number of years. I know there more than a few who have written books, and tracts. I can't recall anyone before recommending their own books and who it was that published it. That to me is unethical. Lockman who has blessed us to have this Study Bible Forum has made is quite clear we are to answer with Scripture. Now if someone else mentions an author that's something else. But to suggest a book you wrote is pretty much selling your book on Lockmans site. Perhaps you never looked at it this way, but I kindly suggest you reconsider recommending your books on this forum. Should anyone have a different opinion please free to express you thoughts if you feel otherwise. Justme |
