41 | Where ARE the four corners of the earth? | Is 11:12 | TommyS | 105610
Makarios, sorry about that. I just now opened my e-mail and, lo and behold. Earlier this evening I came back to my computer, where the forum is on and happened to notice one from Taleb. I responded to his before I even knew you had dug up an answer. Taleb's was somewhat what I was looking for - in the "actual location" of the four corners of the earth. Very interesting, to say the least. While the info you provided is appreciated, I found it fascinating (is that spelled right?) that the earth actually does have four distinct corners. TommyS |

42 | Where ARE the four corners of the earth? | Is 11:12 | TommyS | 105608
Taleb, thank you for taking the time to locate an answer for my question about the four corners. I don't subsribe to any science newsletters so I doubt if that was where I first read about it. How it came to mind was I was reading about the four corners in Rev. and that reminded me. And you are correct. Most of what science has "proven" has a Scripture verse that explains it. Like the moon influences on the ocean to make rain and things like that. Thanks again, TommyS |

43 | Why not always wine for communion? | 1 Corinthians | TommyS | 105550
John15, thank you for the exhortation Paul gave us in Titus 3:9. I needed to "hear" that. Because of those words, I will simply drop the topic. TommyS |

44 | Why not always wine for communion? | 1 Corinthians | TommyS | 105412
Thanks for your response, John15. Sorry it took so long to get back to my orginal question. It dawned on me right after I asked it that I would be gone for an extended holiday over an extra long Thanksgiving. Should have waited. :) I REALLY am curious as to WHEN churchs started using grape juice RATHER than wine during communion. Your comment about "AA members being tempted or excluded", I don't follow. Surely - Paul wasn't thinking of some far-dated, secular organization that refuses to acknowledge the sole power of the only true God. Thanks anyway, TommyS |

45 | Why did Jesus MAKE John Baptize Him? | Matt 3:15 | TommyS | 102825
Hello, BradK I also saw it as "interesting" considering Jesus needed no purification. Now that you mentioned it, I recall another such instance. (Luke 2:22b-25) Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to Jerusalem to "present Him to the Lord, (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord") and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: "a pair of doves or two young pigeons". Wow, thank you sir! TommyS |

46 | Baptized in whose name before Matt 28? | Rom 10:9 | TommyS | 102819
Hello, Ray, thanks for offering an answer to my question. I'm sorry, but I failed to word it according to what I desire to learn. Allow my to reprase it, please. In John 4:1-2 it says that "Jesus was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John, although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but His disciples." This was at the begining of Jesus' ministry, and at the END of His ministry, Matt 28:19, He commanded those same disciples who had been baptizing all along to "Go into all the world, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the "name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." My question meant to be - if the disciples began baptizing a few years before, "IN WHAT NAME, or IN WHOSE NAME - did they do it? Seeing it wasn't until AFTER Jesus'resurrection that "this addition tidbit arrived". Any comments that might help? TommyS |

47 | HELP ME PLEASE...I am not content! | Rom 12:1 | TommyS | 102589
I spent a lot of time reading through this topic. It has changed coarse from its origin, yet I feel I must write something. Cajam, your obvious frustration, anger, bitterness, and self-righeousness sounds very familiar. Also you denial about the same things your words display those same traits. Did you use to pastor a church in North Dakota? If so, I see you have slipped back into that hideous pit, and you continue to refuse His Holy Spirit opportunity to snatch away those bad habits you apparently allow to keep a firm grip your life. Apparently, you are that "fired pastor", or else you have the same blind spots. If, so, I know you are still in that area, you can ask my uncle to have me call you. We need to have "another talk". If you are NOT that pastor, I apologize. It's just your attempt of a litgitimate argument has the exact same holes as that pastor. He also claimed the Holy Spirit was the only one who could correct him - no matter how wrong he always was too. I'll pray for you, either way. TommyS |

48 | What does the bema seat of Christ mean? | Bible general Archive 2 | TommyS | 102187
Mommapbs, blessings upon you for sharing where I might find some infomation on the Bema Seat. Between you and Shalor's I believe I'll get the answers I'm looking for. Maybe even some more questions. :) I'm grateful that you took the time. TommyS |

Shalor, Thank you for offering that tidbit of info on the Bema Seat. That site offered tons in info. I am blessed you shared it with me. TommyS |

50 | Did John the Baptist eat fruit or bugs? | Mark 1:6 | TommyS | 101110
Thank you for taking the time to check out some verses for me. Even though the "Locust-Bugs" ARE kosher, ALL FRUIT is also. Anyway, the Palestian guy that was with us, pointed out the fruit, and mentioned it grows where John the Baptist ministered. Was just curious, even though "I still don't know" - I don't HAVE to know either if it really was bugs or fruit. :) In college, I tried canned grasshoppers dipped in chocolate, and can't say I enjoyed them - anymore than I "enjoyed" the fruit off a locust tree. Thanks again. TommyS |

51 | Why 4 Gospels? | NT general Archive 1 | TommyS | 100949
According to ONE "review" about The Gospel of Thomas, ..."you'll discover a different kind of Christ--a wandering spiritual teacher from Galilee who performs no miracles, reveals little prophecy, announces no apocalypse, and dies for no one's sins." Now, which Gospel do YOU believe? Matthew's, Mark's, Luke's and John's, OR "the doubter's"? TommyS |

52 | Saved by belief or belief and baptism? | NT general Archive 1 | TommyS | 100915
Does your comment "Just to clarify: this is water baptism we are talking about, not the baptism of the Holy Spirit (which happens at the momemt of conversion" ... mean that none of the disciples had experienced "conversion" until the day of Pentecost? TommyS |

53 | Why was there fourteen sheep on ark? | Genesis | TommyS | 99619
Taleb, you asked "how could it have taken Noah 120 years to build the ark?" I have heard a lot of sermons where the preacher taught us how while Noah was building the ark, he preached. One pastor mentioned how difficult it must have been for Noah preaching for 120 years without a "convert". Doesn't the Bible tell us that Noah preached for 120 years? I tried to find it, but the only portion I could find about Noah preaching didn't say anything about it being for 120 years. TommyS |

54 | Holy Grail and it's relevance | John 20:29 | TommyS | 99472
Makarios, good words. When I was reading in John earlier, I read that portion about the graveclothes Jesus wore into the tomb. John 20:7 SEEMS to tell us that that "Shroud of Turin" ISN'T from Jesus. Why else would John "bother" to write "And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself." How could Jesus' "Face" be on the shroud, WHEN His head was wrapped seperatly, is what I figure. Am I on the right track? TommyS |

55 | Which words of Jesus are literal? | 2 Tim 3:16 | TommyS | 99463
Tom, thank you for ALL of your imput about taking Jesus "literally" or not. Taleb mentioned something about allegories in Scripture, and I thought I would ask. I intend to do as BradK suggested. Thanks again. TommyS |

56 | Which words of Jesus are literal? | 2 Tim 3:16 | TommyS | 99457
Thank you John Reformed for replying to both of my questions. And the exhortation to use common sense and prayer. TommyS |

57 | Which chapters in Job ARE NOT true? | 2 Tim 3:16 | TommyS | 99456
Thank you BradK for taking the extra time to locate what easton's dictionary says. Perhaps I should have phrased my question better. What I was looking for was that portion that Tom mentioned. I should have asked which chapters in Job aren't correct. Thanks again. TommyS |

58 | Christ comes in kingdom power at the End | Mark 9:1 | TommyS | 99343
Tom, I never knew what you shared about the sabbath until recently. Did you know how the Greek word sabbaton is translated in the New Testament? Like that verse in John 19:31 that Candy Lee used - that Greek word is used twice. Once where it says it was the first day of the WEEK. The other when it talks about being a special sabbath. I just checked my strongs out for other places for "week" and it always used Sabbaton. Interesting. I wonder if that backs up what some have said about the sabbath MEANING ANY day of the week? Just a thought. TommyS |

59 | Christ comes in kingdom power at the End | Mark 9:1 | TommyS | 99333
Hello, Taleb. Thank you for responding to my off the cuff questions. My church library has Clarks commentary. Thank you for taking the time to help me understand where you are coming from. If you don’t mind – what do you mean by Jesus OFTEN spoke allegorically? TommyS |
||||||
60 | Christ comes in kingdom power at the End | Mark 9:1 | TommyS | 99162
Taleb, what do you mean when you say their is huge holes in that erroneous concept. What concept are you talking about? The 3 and a half years, or what? What's wrong with Darby's study Bible? I don't have one, but was just wondering. TommyS |
