This was the daily devotional for today too. Would you say this addresses this too? This may come as a surprise to you, but because you are a Christian doesn't mean you have to love everything. Now, we hear that Christians are to be people of love, and that is true. But did you know that if you're a Christian, not only must you learn to love, but you must also learn to hate? If you love God, then you are to hate what God hates. It is true in every realm. If you love flowers, you hate weeds. If you love health, you hate germs. If you love God, you hate evil. It is just that plain. Romans 12:9b tells us in stronger terms to "abhor that which is evil." A hypocrite, which is something none of us want to be, is someone who says he loves God, but then he doesn't hate sin. Don't tell others you love God if you don't hate that which nailed Him to the cross. "Ye that love the Lord, hate evil; He perserveth the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked." Psalm 97:10 |

I knew Disney had underground facilities because they were in a book I read before but I never realized they were as extensive as you said. All I know is I won't suppirt Disney because of their gay stance. I bet old Walt is spinning in his grave. :( They are a good mission field tho, so is the whole country. We (general) sure are pathetic...we send missionaries all over the world, then they get converted and send missionaries back here...
50 | What is the name of Job's wife? | Job | Norrie | 131439
I never knew about Dinah until you told me and I looked it up. I was shocked when I found out Abraham remarried and had a bunch of other sons too. Funny the little things that get overlooked...:) Usually if it wasn't in a Bible story, it's like it never happened. I knew Jacon had 12 sons but didn't know of any daughters until now. Was that all?

55 | Christ Sometimes Taught in Greek | Mark 12:30 | Norrie | 126634
If you are interested in Pontius Pilate, there is a book by that name by Paul L Maier that is excellent. He has references for practically every chapter in back. There was even a darkening of skies at same time of Jesus' death in Rome. You can prob find a copy used cheap on amazon.com, that's where I got mind but I read it from my church library first. It was so good, I wanted my own copy.
56 | Roman guard myth? | Matt 28:11 | Norrie | 122355
I wasn't losing posts tho that has happened before, I just had none of those symbols but it was saying I was so post wouldn't go thru. Yesterday I had same verse from every translation on Gateway to show different meanings and it said those symbols were there. There were a few from copy and pasting but I got rid of them all, then it still said they were there and there wasn't...today I didn't go above the home keys period. I think any symbol on keyboard should be allowed. There are many good links tht can't be posted because of this too. I've always had that beef here. :)

58 | Roman guard myth? | Matt 28:11 | Norrie | 122254
They were guarding outside the temple area, they would have had to have had Pilate permission for that. They asked Pilate for his guards, he said you do it. You're the Greek scholar, what is literal translation of the Greek? |

59 | Roman guard myth? | Matt 28:11 | Norrie | 122247
They would have been punished regardless, whether they reported to priests first or Pilate if it was Romans. From all the evidence, I believe it was temple guards. Pilate was thoroughly disgusted w/the whole matter and wanted nothing more to do w/it, he told priests to do what they wanted.
60 | Roman guard myth? | Matt 28:11 | Norrie | 122244
Pilate was also quite sick of the Jews, his wife was giving him a bad time about executing an innocent man, from what I've been trying to discover, it seems he told them more like do it yourself because he was tired of their whining. Yes, later they sent a msg to Pilate about guards sleeping trying to CYA. Accd to above book, the note went like this: "Joseph Caiaphas to Ponyius Pilatus, peace. The followers of the Nazarene will stop at nothing, as you have doubtless heard. They came at night and stole his body while the guards were sleeping. Therefore if any claims are made to his so-called 'resurrection,' you will know how to interpret these. We are grateful for your cooperation. Do not think harshly of our guards for falling asleep. They have been exhausted over the last days in pursuing this case. Peace Pilate had contempt for such an excuse in behalf of sleeping guards. Didn't they set up shifts? They would not have come off so lightly if they were Roman auxiliaries." I know the Pilate book is an historical novel but the author did a lot of research in it. The back of book is loaded w/references. This question started because my daughter asked it the other night. :) |
