41 | Heb. 3-4:1-13? | Heb 4:1 | Ray | 148348
Hi 1-2steve, I don't see any "angels" mentioned in Hebrews 3-4:1-13. Therefore any connection would have to come from the words themselves in context. Jude 5, "Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently [Lit, the second time] [He] destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, **He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day." Hebrews 3:18, "And to whom did He swear that they should not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient? 19 And so we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief. 4:1 Therefore, let us fear lest, while a promise remains of entering **His rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it." 1) We can see that the passages deal with the grace of God, finding rest in Him, and being found faithful even as Moses was faithful in all **His house. 42 | Mark 10:21: Why only the KJV? | Mark 10:21 | Ray | 148035
Hi Santaanacanyon, Can I call you Santa or Anna or something else a little easier to write? :o)) The translations used varying manuscripts and some do not have in them, "having taken up the cross." But the phrase of importance of "and come follow Me" is found in the NASB. 1) This passage in Mark is before the cross, so I would be prone to seeing "having taken up the cross" to be a later addition to the text. 2) Our treasure is not in bearing a cross, but rather is found in following Him. 43 | How is kingdom of heaven like leaven? | Matt 13:33 | Ray | 148034
Hi Hank, You have mail. I think that the kingdom of heaven is like knowing the Bread of life. From the heart, Ray |

44 | Significance of three pecks? | Matt 13:33 | Ray | 148033
Hi Mommapbs, Please see my note to Mark below. Matthew 13:34, "All these things Jesus spoke to them in parables, and He/ did not speak to them without a parable, 35 so that what was spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, "I will open My mouth in parables; (I) will utter things hidden since the foundation of the world."" John 3:25, "The woman said to Him, "I know that Messiah is coming (He/ who is called Christ); when that One comes, (He) will declare all things to us." The slashes and parentheses for comparison are mine. From the heart, Ray |

45 | Church sound system "way too loud" | 1 Cor 13:1 | Ray | 147773
Hi Kalos, Perhaps wearing the foam ear plugs until he can get the headphones on that the church supplies, would be a solution. However, sometimes disabilities do affect the ways that we can participate in activities. Perhaps he will have to accept the situation and be content with tapes of the services. He could combine the tapes with a weekly Bible study at the church in a quieter and smaller assembly of believers. From the heart, Ray |

46 | "Law" is a Metaphor? | Rom 7:23 | Ray | 146955
Hi Doc Trinsograce, I see the idea of an implied comparison, but I don't know if "metaphor" would be the proper word. Romans 7:22 and 8:10 are good comparison verses to my mind. Here we have the idea of the law of God in the inner man as being equated or compared with having Christ in you. From the heart, Ray |

47 | What does Luke 23:46 mean? | Ps 31:5 | Ray | 146645
Hi cpowell, Luke 23:46, Mark 15:39, and Matthew 27:50 are saying the same thing, namely, that He breathed His last breath. Remember that the spirit is breath or wind; for example John 3:8, The wind [pnema, spirit] blows where it wishes,..." Also, I interpret a lower case spirit for John 3:34, "For He whom God sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the *spirit without measure." But now on the cross His life and His words are done and He breathes His last. 1) I think also from these passages we as believers that have heard the words of God and have been spiritually born from above should hear the words of the Roman centurian. "Truly this Man was the Son of God." 2) Matthew 27:54, "Now the centurian, and those who were with him keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that were happening, became very frightened and said, "Truly this was the Son of God." [Or possibly, a son of God or, a son of a god], marginal note, NASB. But look at the verse after our thread reference, Psalm 31:6, "I hate those who regard vain idols [empty vanities], But I trust in the Lord." This One was the Son of God, not a son of a god. That is what a spirit-filled Christian should keep in mind. We have put our trust in the Lord, even this Man, the God of truth. From the heart, Ray |

48 | Is Jehovah lying? | John 8:58 | Ray | 145762
Hi Tim, In comparing the NASB, NKJ, and your NIV I wonder if you would speak to the phrase "nor will there be one after me". The NASB says "And there will be none after Me." Does the Hebrew suggest a "one" as is translated in the NIV? From the heart, Ray |

49 | this to shall pass | Ps 119:50 | Ray | 145758
Hi ditishines, I couldn't find it. If I skipped over it, I hope that someone will supply the answer. The Scripture that I found that expresses the idea that "this will pass" or "I'll live through this" is Psalm 119:50. Psalm 119:49, "Remember the word to Thy servant, In which Thou hast made me hope. 50 This is my comfort in my afliction, That Thy word has revived me." [Or, preserved me alive]. I hope that this is helpful and that it will not discourage anyone from finding the verse for you. From the heart, Ray |

50 | who save us Jesus or Jehovah | John 8:58 | Ray | 145480
Hi amdraa5, Jehovah and Jesus are one in the same...[finish the sentence]. The 1 John 5:7 verse that you allude to in the NKJ reads, "For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one." Perhaps we can say that Jehovah and Jesus are one in the same spirit or Spirit? From the heart, Ray |

51 | What is Romans 1:16-20 and 3:9-20 mean | Rom 1:17 | Ray | 145356
Hi nae-nae 04, The passages show that the gospel is for everyone who believes. We all are, Jew and Gentiles, bound together as sinners. But God is righteous. Romans 1:17, "For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, 'But the righteous man shall live by faith.'" Romans 3:23, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." From the heart, Ray |

52 | 'I AM' or 'I exist'? | John 8:58 | Ray | 145169
Hi Tim, You have an important message here that this Man is "God with us". This was no strange god among them. Isaiah 43:12, "It is **I who have declared and saved and proclaimed, And there was no strange god among you; So you are *My witnesses," declares the Lord, "And I am God." I am reminded of Exodus 3:14 also, "...**I am who *I am..." 1) The blind man said "I am he." He was stating that he was the one they were looking for. Jesus, because of who He is, says "I am the One." The "He" is understood in the Greek. In John 8:24, 28; and 13:19, the translation is "I am [He]." John 8:58 is different because there it is speaking of His existence before Abraham. The addition of "He" would not make sense for that verse. 2) I think also of a passage like Mathew 24:5. How are they going to deceive in His name? From the heart, Ray |

53 | The experience is it of water / faith? | John 3:5 | Ray | 144990
Hi renee, When speaking of being born "again", the meaning is being born "from above". There is flesh and there is spirit in the passage. There are both water and spirit to be born of in John 3:5; both are necessary to enter the kingdom of God. So I would not say that it is of water / faith as your question suggests but of water / spirit. The spirit blows where it wishes. We are born from above. From the heart, Ray |

54 | Teaching Points on Spiritual Gifts | Eph 4:1 | Ray | 144608
Hi ...bruce, I would have you consider who these gifts are given to: Certainly He gave gifts to men. He wanted to fill all things with these spiritual gifts. He gave some certainly to apostles, some to prophets, and some to evangelists, and some to pastors and teachers. Why? To equip the saints for the work, to build up the members, to attain the unity of the faith, to know the Son of God, being mature in Christ. By now we should all be teachers, being mature in the word, because of practice having trained our senses to discern good and evil. Hebrews 5:14. We should have by now tasted the good word of God, tasted the heavenly gift, and become mature. 1 Peter 4:10, "As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 Whoever speaks, let him speak, as it were the utterances of God;..." Ephesians 4:7, "But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift. Romans 12:3, "For through the grace given to me I say to every man among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith." 55 | what does John3:1-16 mean | John 3:11 | Ray | 144597
Hi nae-nae 04, You should probably tell us what is on your mind so that we can focus on it. But here is the way I look at your passage. I see John claiming Jesus as the Teacher come from God. I see Jesus saying that we must be born from above. We are born from water and from (s)Spirit. I see five words of "spirit" here for me personally right now. For verse 10 I see Jesus recognizing Nicodemus as the teacher [sic] of Israel, yet he doesn't understand these things. It will be difficult for us to understand these things. For verse 11, I see five pronouns of Deity, so I go with the NKJ for that verse. John 3:11, NKJ, "Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness." The key verse, the bottom line, is that we believe in Him. We believe in Him as the only begotten God. We believe in Him as Spirit. We accept His witness as the Teacher, even the Spirit of truth. From the heart, Ray |

56 | where in the bible call no man reverend | Exodus | Ray | 144593
Hi BILLINGCLERK, The problem that you are alluding to is that we are not to call any man "Reverend". I am talking to you in regards to a capitalized Reverend so you may not undersand what I am saying since you do not use capitalization. The problem is dealt with in most churches I believe by having the members say to the pastors,or priests, "Pastor Bob..." or "Father Flanagan", or Reverend Tim", etc. Thus showing that the "Reverend" is part of a title or job description, or earned word of respect; but it is not used alone because that is not who he is. These men are not Reverend, nor Leader, nor Rabbi, nor Teacher, nor Father. These [capitalized] words belong to only One. These words belong to the triune God; the Prophet, Priest, and King. From the heart, Ray P. S. The "holy and reverend" of the King James Version for Psalm 111:9 is translated "awesome", i.e. inspiring reverence, in the NKJ and NASB versions. |

58 | Why was Nehemiah afraid in 2:2? | Neh 2:2 | Ray | 144369
Hi Tdenison, Here is a quote from MacArthur's Study Bible. 2:2, dreadfully afraid. He feared that either his countenance, his explanation, or his request would anger the king and thus lead to his death. (cf. Esth. 4:11 with 5:1-3). End of quote. Esther 4:11, "All the king's servants and the people of the king's provinces know that for any man or woman who comes to the king to the inner court who is not summoned, he has but one law, that he be put to death, unless the king holds out to him the golden scepter so that he may live. And I have not been summoned to come to the king for these thirty days." In Esther 5:2 the king extended to Esther the golden scepter which was in his hand, and she touched the top of the scepter. In passing, (since there are no nouns or pronouns of Deity in Esther :)) I can only say that Esther is a great book to study petitions and requests and further petitions and answers; even when we do not see God in them. Of course, in Nehemiah we can see that his voice was praying to the God of heaven. Nehemiah 1:4ff. Nehemiah 2:4, "Then the king said to me, "What would you request?" So I prayed to the God of heaven." Nehemiah saw that the good hand of his God was on him; even that God was putting things into his mind and heart. He knew also that his God would fight for him in the work. Nehemiah 4:20, 6:16, and Exodus 14:13, 14. From the heart, Ray |

59 | Seeeking Truth | John 8:32 | Ray | 144207
Hi seeking truth, I notice that in your presenting of the question you use both a lower case "truth" and a upper case "Truth". I realize also that finding the truth is a daunting task. Plus, with your ""HE" has inspired me" with its all capitals we do not know who (h)He is. The answer that I would give you is that you should use a version of the Holy Bible that capitalizes the nouns and pronouns of Deity. Personally I go with the NASB and the NKJ. However, I go with the Amplified for this verse. From the heart, Ray |
