41 | Rev 3:16 lukewarm | Rev 3:16 | Love Fountain | 34771
Dear Zach, Commentaries............ Rev 3:14-22 The last letter is to Laodicea, which receives no commendation. The unfavorable condition in this church was lukewarmness: the members were neither cold nor hot (v. 15). The lukewarm person does not become greatly disturbed at hearing heretical teaching, and is not vigorous in the defense of the truth. This spirit of indifference is the most tragic thing that can happen to a church. The close of this letter is different from the conclusions of the other six in that it makes an application to the individual: If any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, etc. (v. 20). (from The Wycliffe Bible Commentary, Electronic Database. Copyright (c) 1962 by Moody Press) Rev 3:15 [I would thou wert cold or hot] That is, I would prefer either of those states to what now exists. Anything better than this condition, where love is professed, but where it does not exist; where vows have been assumed which are not fulfilled. Why he would prefer that they should be "hot" is clear enough; but why would he prefer a state of utter coldness-a state where there was no profession of real love? To this question the following answers may be given: (1) Such a state of open and professed coldness or indifference is more honest. There is no disguise; no concealment; no pretence. We know where one in this state "may be found"; we know with whom we are dealing; we know what to expect. Sad as the state is, it is at least honest; and we are so made that we all prefer such a character to one where professions are made which are never to be realized-to a state of insincerity and hypocrisy. (2) Such a state is more honorable. It is a more elevated condition of mind, and marks a higher character. Of a man who is false to his engagements, who makes professions and promises never to be realized, we can make nothing. There is essential meanness in such a character, and there is nothing in it which we can respect. But in the character of the man who is openly and avowedly opposed to anything; who takes his stand, and is earnest and zealous in his course, though it be wrong, there are traits which may be, under a better direction, elements of true greatness and magnanimity. 42 | Rev 3:16 lukewarm | Rev 3:16 | Love Fountain | 34768
Dear Zach, Thank you for the question. The point of view I am allowed to have when thinking of "lukewarm" within the church of Laodicea is that the type of people we may find in attendance would be sitting on the fence, not making the choice, or choosing not to get involved. Without love of the truth, or without conscience to oppose the deceptions which we are taught throughout Scripture. The greatest gift, someone must agree, is the freewill we have all been given, to express and share in meekness and love, the opportunity to communicate a point of view. Bless you, Love Fountain |

43 | Moses killed why was he still choosen to | Acts 9:15 | Love Fountain | 31189
Dear sassybrown, Two thoughts come to my with your question. The first is that Moses has not been judged by God yet, because judgement is at the end of this age and second, Moses was a chosen vessel just like Saul who became Paul as stated in the following verse, Acts 9:15 15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: KJV Paul was a big time bad guy as Saul. Read the book of Acts and by his own words he tells you how he persecuted and partook in the death of many Christian families (men, women and children). That was his job as a Pharisee appointed by the high priest. Hope this helps, Bless you, Love Fountain |

44 | Free will in heaven? | Bible general Archive 1 | Love Fountain | 31181
Dear vanagon, You ask, "1) Why do we have to live here on earth before we can be in heaven? Why doesn't God just create people in heaven. 2) Why does God allow evil and suffering to exist and why must we endure it? Both your questions may be answered by the following verses, Matt 13:30 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. KJV Matt 13:38-42 38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; 39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. 40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. 41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. KJV In the above verses we are told that there are good people and bad people and they must be together until the time of the harvest and then they will be separated. I believe we are here to make a choice, to follow God or satan, good or bad. The choice is ours through the gift of freewill we decide to endure or partake. Hope this helps. 46 | Should we Divorce? | Mal 2:16 | Love Fountain | 31123
Dear pricefhome, First of all please remember God is love. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (from New International Version) This is hard to understand and remember, especially when we consider the cards we have been dealt with in this life. You and your wife are met with some very challenging issues to say the least. You have brought up a few things in this thread such as two non believers growing apart because one turns to Christ and the other does not, the loss of a child and should we divorce. Your marriage is not one done in sin, nowhere in the Bible does it say you cannot live with a person before getting married, that is a tradition of men, besides I am sure you have a couple of beautiful children to which fact shows just how blessed you and your wife are. The hard part is realizing the blessing especially with the loss of a child. In the book of Job, Job had ten children taken from him but when he overcame they were all restored to him, if you haven't read Job please do. It appears that your wife somehow holds you or herself responsible for the loss of your son. Perhaps she doesn't know what happens when we pass on. Please read Ecc 12:7 to see that the spirit goes back to God and in 1Cor 15 we have two bodies a physical and spiritual. Upon the last breath in the physical body we transfer into the spiritual body and go back to God who made our souls. I personally believe that some souls are too special to stay in this age of evil that we live in today and that God takes them away from here so they do not have to suffer the evil. I believe from the bottom of my heart that you and your wife will see your baby again when you get into the uncorruptible spiritual body that we are to all wear. Anyway, you cannot and should not try to force your wife to go to church or to do anything she doesn't want to. There is a great deal more than you are able to share hear on the internet going on between you and your side is only half of the view so it really is not the best way to a solution. Anyone who claims anything above a sinner is one to observe with caution, especially one that says they have the gift of prophecy and tells you God never ordained your marriage, that is a load of mud for lack of better words and that person needs to get the mud out their own eye before helping anyone else. My parents divorced when I was ten and it was very difficult for me for years to follow, but how they ever thought they were compatible is beyond me, talk about two very different people. Because of the experience of my childhood I try extra hard in my marriage today to understand where my spouse is coming from and do my best to be there and understand and respect the space or companionship which is needed. This is not always easy and I have to put myself into the shoes of my spouse by being sensitive and inquiring of ways I can or cannot help. If you have sincerely grown apart beyond reconciliation then perhaps it may better for you two to move on. God does not intend us to be miserable in our lives nor should we be involved in things that make us sad constantly, but we should not give up either. Deut 24:1 24:1 "When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some uncleanness in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, NKJV I hope this helps! 48 | Serenetime: Did you know . . . | NT general Archive 1 | Love Fountain | 29801
Dear Kalos, Hope all is well with you! Between the holidays, a head cold and a new job, I have not been able to spend as much time on the internet lately and have chosen to study away from the web. Anyways, today I have found some time. You have spent a great amount of energy in this thread regarding Judas went to hell?. Also, it is clear you think Judas to be the son of perdition, based on John 17:12. Perdition means to perish eternally, the permanent death. The fact still remains Scripture does not say in plain words,"Judas went to hell". Why does Judas need to be in hell? This thread has made me remember a carnival we had at my grade school. There was a big jar full of MandM's and we had to guess how many MandM's were in the jar. Who ever guessed right won the jar of candy. I have a challenge for everyone who believes Judas is the son of perdition(sentenced to perish eternally). Lets put an MandM in a empty jar for everyone in the Bible that is judged to eternal damnation and after we are done searching from cover to cover, I am sure there will only be one MandM in the jar, satan's, because the Bible does not say Judas is judged. Judas did betray Jesus, but he also had a change of heart and repented. Why do people still want him to be the son of perdition(to eternally perish)? Who are we to judge whether Judas' apology was sincere enough for God? As Serenetime stated elsewhere in this thread, Peter denied thrice and the other disciples forsake Jesus in the garden. Where were Peter and the other disciples when Jesus was on the cross? If God could forgive Saul, the worst Christian Family killer of all, please explain why Judas is not also forgiven. Saul, by his own words was a Pharisee and a scholar of the law, does it not seem apparent that Saul was a big part in the judgement of death towards Jesus? When Paul says he is the least of the apostles, he is not kidding, he was a real bad guy, yet he is like a superhero. Judas merely did what Jesus told him to do and he fulfilled his role of betrayal, but I believe man has made a great mistake to judge Judas to hell as the son of perdition which I will work to show in my posting to Serenetime on this thread. I get a feeling that many scholars today, feel that we know all there is to know in Scripture, that there are no more mysteries to be revealed, man has understood all there is to know and now we are just waiting. When I read the Bible, every single time I pick it up I learn something new. If I wasn't learning anything new then I would suspect that I had stumbled. If I ever stumble, I pray God corrects me and I am not foolish enough not to listen. Anyway, it appears you are saying that Serenetime is misinterpreting something or contradicting Scripture. What it is, I am not sure. If it is that Judas is in hell, as you seem to believe, then you need to show Scripture clearly and plainly stating," Judas is in, or went to hell", which has not been done. I have to be honest, I have a sick feeling in my stomach thinking of condemning someones soul to eternal damnation based on any mans face value understanding of Gods Word. Bless you, Love Fountain I have always been fascinated by the fact that the eleven out of twelve disciples were Galileans(Midianites) and only Judas was of the tribe of Judah. Why do you think this was? |

49 | What do people boast about? Why? | Jer 9:23 | Love Fountain | 27610
Dear searcher56, You ask,"what things do people boast about today?", I'd say, wisdom, might and riches, these are three things which men boast of, and trust in. This was Jerusalem's sin and I believe it is still the same in our time today. I think the answer to your question,"what to boast?", is in verse 24 of this chapter: Jer 9:24 But let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows Me, that I am Lord, who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the Lord.(NIV) Hope this helps. 50 | How do Matthew 2 and Luke 2 meld? | Luke 2:39 | Love Fountain | 27351
Dear searcher, You ask"why did they only offer a sacrifice of a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons? They were not poor?" This is a great question and one that I don't have a complete answer for, but maybe what I do have will help. From the World Book Encylopedia 1988 as follows: Pigeon is any bird in the pigeon and dove family. The larger members of the family are usually called pigeons and the smaller ones doves. Many scientists believe that a male and female pigeon mate with each other for life. Most other kinds of birds mate with different partners. To me this represents true love, to be with one partner all your life. How this fits with your question?, I'm not sure, but I hope you know. Also, I was led to 2Cor 8:8-12, with emphasis on verse 9 in regards to your "they were not poor" question. Sorry to butt in, I felt a moved to respond because I have always wondered things about the doves and pigeons and never taken the steps. Anyway, hope this helps. Bless you, Love Fountain |

52 | what is my duty God way? | Ex 20:12 | Love Fountain | 27249
Dear Grace7044, Sounds like you are being met with a challenge. The Bible that I read says to love God, love my neighbor as myself, love my enemies, and do unto others as I would have them do unto me. I am sure your Bible says the same things. However, for me to give you an intelligent answer I would need more information. Like what is it that your Husband may or may not have against your Mother or what specific thing is it that makes him mad? Is it the time you are away?, why does he suffer when you are not home? Is your husband able to do things for himself or does he have problems that keep him from helping himself when you are not home? I would need more information to understand what he thinks. In my opinion taking care of your Mother is something that is done without a doubt and your husband should accept you helping her and even offer to help. If he has something against your mother, I would remind him that Jesus has forgiven us for all our sins and that we are also to forgive each other as He did. Jesus says to forgive each other 70 times 7(Matt 18:21,22). Thats alot of forgiving and tough for stubborn people like myself. Thank You Jesus! Hope this helps, Love Fountain Matt 5:14-16 |

53 | No Joyce Meyer?????????????????? | Acts 17:11 | Love Fountain | 27245
Dear Shell, Nolan and Kalos have made some good points. Please excuse me for butting in, but I want to share with you how I can relate to what you are going through. It can be frustrating or challenging to put your faith into a man or a woman, and just when you really like the message they are giving you hit a brick wall and discover or hear a negative that makes you want to turn away. Whether it is from the horses mouth, or from an outside source we cannot help questioning the soundness and morals of the those we look to for guidance in the Word. I read the Bible almost daily and quite often listen to the radio or watch those on the TV. I find God works in incredible ways. I will read a scripture one night and the next day He teaches me things I was reading the night before from the mouths of people I watch on TV and listen to on the radio. He also teaches me things from people that I interact with during the day in my work world, people that don't read the Bible, people that don't know that I read the Bible are teaching me through their mouths things that I study with the Holy Spirit. I know it is not the people teaching me it is the Holy Spirit that is telling me to keep studying the Bible and learning the love that God has for me and the Holy Spirit that is showing me that God is in control of every situation I come across in my walk towards understanding His will. My point is, I think we need to hear what Joyce Meyers says, we need to hear what John Hagee says, we need to hear what all those presented to us have to say so that we can know and learn the differences between what the Bible teaches and what men and women are teaching and look for similarities or differences and then go to the Bible for confirmation or further pursuit of understanding and continue to ask questions. The one thing I have learned is the Bible will answer all questions we have and we need to dig into the scripture and pray for guidance from the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus and also seek help utilizing the resources and people we can reach. Sometimes I look at it as though the truth is scattered like a jigsaw puzzle and everyone I come in contact with has a piece of the puzzle to offer and my job is to recognize which piece they are holding and go back to the Bible, which is the key to the puzzle, and put the piece back where it belongs. Bless you, Love Fountain John 7:37-39 |

54 | Why did God become a Man? | NT general Archive 1 | Love Fountain | 26953
Dear capemay, Another reason God became a man is in Hebrews 2:14,15. NIV Heb 2:14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death-that is, the devil- Heb 2:15 -and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. 55 | 70 0r 75 souls out of Egypt? | Acts 7:14 | Love Fountain | 26947
Dear 8414 walter, From the Zondervan NIV Study Bible as follows: Jacob and his whole family, seventy-five in all. Although the Hebrew Bible uses the number seventy(Gen 46:27; Ex 1:5; Deut 10:22), the Greek translation of the OT (the Septuagint) adds at Gen 46:20 the names of two sons of Manasseh, two of Ephraim, and one grandson of the latter. This makes the number seventy-five and is the number that Stephen uses. Hope this help. Bless you, Love Fountain |
