41 | About the Kingdom of God for 40 days | Acts 1:3 | Inquisitor | 224954
Apparently since we're not given the details as you've already confirmed, we're left to assume a lot. I like to assume the rest of the New Testament IS and DOES contain those details, at least as much of the details as we need. Remember these were Jesus' final words to His beloved disciples and He knew they would share the wonderful news to the whole world. BUT also remember at least the reaction of some or maybe even most of them. Acts 1:6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “LORD, WILL YOU AT THIS TIME RESTORE THE KINGDOM TO ISRAEL?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” The verse in caps is my idea for emphasis. We must remember these simple, common and un-schooled men didn't have a clear concept of what the Lord's kingdom looked like and apparently they weren't ready to understand it even if He tried to tell them or teach them. They were still looking for an earthly kingdom with Israel in the lead if not in exclusive possession. They didn't get the details of the interview between Christ and Pilate until after John was inspired by the Holy Spirit to recite it for us. Jn 18:33 Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” 34 Jesus answered him, “Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?” 35 Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?” 36 Jesus answered, “MY KINGDOM IS NOT OF THIS WORLD. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; BUT NOW MY KINGDOM IS NOT FROM HERE.” More Caps for emphasis. But Jesus does remind them of the coming age of power with the "Comforter" as He predicted earlier. I'm afraid none of us can possibly know for certain the answers to your questions but I am quite certain God has given us everything we need and the rest will just have to wait until after Judgment Day. All of us will have to be patient. But you have posed some very good, thought provoking questions. One last thought/reminder: Jn 21:24 This is the disciple who testifies of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true. 25 And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen. I'm also anxiously looking forward to see what others on the Forum might think of your questions and their responses. God bless, Inquisitor |

42 | Will Jews make it to heaven? | Rom 9:1 | Inquisitor | 225005
I would have to agree with Beja and Searcher. The most powerful scripture of which I can think is from Jesus Himself in... Jn 14:5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Jesus' Words are pretty clear. In this Dispensation, we must obey His Commands and those of His Officially Commissioned Apostles. God bless, Inquisitor |

I liked Beja's answer but I would caution you with a couple of ideas. In such difficult situations as you're describing here, I would suggest that you host such a person with a partner, preferably your spouse. In my mind, there's nothing stronger on this earth than a couple united with God in their marriage AND this would set before them a perfect example of what God's ideal union is all about. Second thing I would say is that God reserves a special blessing for those who have a heart like He does for the sinful and misguided of this world. IF your friend is truly open minded to His Truth and can be converted, then you'll be a very special person in God's Family. BUT I would also say IF this friend of yours is bent on persisting in their lifestyle, then you must see through their veneer and treat them accordingly. Like Beja mentioned, you should mark them as being willfully disobedient and avoid them. BUT that doesn't mean we should stop praying for them; as a matter of fact, make sure they know we (all of God's family) are indeed praying for them. |

44 | Women being submissive? | 1 Cor 14:34 | Inquisitor | 223912
Quoted for reference 1 Cor 14:26 How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. 28 But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God. 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. 30 But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. 34 Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. 35 And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church. 36 Or did the word of God come originally from you? Or was it you only that it reached? 37 If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. 38 But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant. 39 Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. 40 Let all things be done decently and in order. From this context, it seems clear that the women of the church are to be in submission to the men of the church. It's NOT a slam against women; it's simply God's order in His World. A reminder: we the men of the church need to be in submission to Christ as Head of the church. That includes the organization of the church, i.e. elders and deacons of the church. In the case of a husband not knowing the answer to his wife's question, then it falls upon him to get a little guidance from a senior, more experienced man in the congregation. With that being said, some questions don't have answers. Many examples are in the Book of Job. |

47 | Define the triune being. | 1 Thess 5:23 | Inquisitor | 223362
I'll take a shot at these questions but I must admit, I don't think they'll do justice in accordance with God's Word. All I can think of is the fact that we do have three distinct areas of our being as mentioned by Jesus Himself in Mark 12:30 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. Now I said three distinct areas in contrast to the four above but that's because most consider the heart of a man to be his mind. But these 3 distinct areas of a human being doesn't even come close to the triune nature of the Godhead. That's why I'm not associating the word with us humans. In my mind it's simply NOT done as it would be disrespectful but that's my opinion. We as Bible students need to remember our body is merely a temporary arrangement as depicted by Paul in 2 Cor 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, 3 if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. 4 For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. 6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Further, we're also told that God created us in THEIR Image. What qualities do we share with the Godhead? Apparently, we have to assume that is our spirit and soul which will live on forever after the destruction of this world in the hereafter. It's our choice as to whether we live with God forever or die forever with Satan and his demons. Well as indicated, I have reached the end of my paultry knowledge on this subject so I'll let someone else give their response to this great question. |

50 | what is satans throne? | Rev 2:13 | Inquisitor | 223463
This is from the Book of Revelation. In these two chapters, 2 and 3, Jesus is citing the various problems/defects in 7 different congregations throughout modern-day Turkey. 12 “And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write, ‘These things says He who has the sharp two-edged sword: 13 “I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. 14 But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. 15 Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. 16 Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth. In this particular letter to Pergamos, Jesus identifies that they are living in close proximity with some very sinful people. It seems pretty clear Satan's throne is just a reference to this group of sinners. But of course, I like to interpret this book as simple and straight forward as much as possible, especially in the first three chapters. After Chapter 5, the figures and symbols become much tougher to interpret. To the first century christians, this whole book was a tremendous message of hope during their horrible world of persecution from the Roman Government and the Jewish nation. The one thing of which all of us can be certain and that is that God and His Son has won the war and it's just a matter of our choosing whose side do we want to be on at Judgment Day. God bless you in your studies. Inquisitor |

51 | wHO ARE SHEEP FROM ANOTHER FOLD | Rev 7:9 | Inquisitor | 224724
Quoted for context: John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. 12 But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. 13 The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. 15 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. 16 And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd. 17 “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.” 19 Therefore there was a division again among the Jews because of these sayings. 20 And many of them said, “He has a demon and is mad. Why do you listen to Him?” 21 Others said, “These are not the words of one who has a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?” This verse 16 is very difficult to interpret since it comes to us "out of the blue" and Jesus doesn't explain it. As far as I know, the Bible doesn't give much commentary on this phrase "sheep not of this fold." We do know that quite often Jesus referred to sheep when He was really referring to people. With this passage we can't even speculate very much. I would not place too much value or need for discussion since it doesn't seem to mean very much to God or His Son. God bless you, Inquisitor |
