41 | 2nd greatest vs the new commandment | Mark 12:31 | azurelaw | 215905
What is/are the difference(s) between this 2nd greatest commandment and the new commandment (John 13:34)? Which should hold greater weight and coverage? If as according to Mark 12:31 "... there is no other commandment greater than these", why add a new commandment? Thanks and shalom Azure |

42 | The offspring of Adam's | Gen 5:1 | azurelaw | 215638
The chapter starts this verse specifically mentioning the offspring of Adam's. While reading, Cain and his line is not mentioned but Seth's only. However, end of chapter 4 records Cain and his line. Does the author (Moses, accurately should be God) intentionally leave out Cain and his line, and disregarding them being the offspring of Adam's or the sons of God as the story goes on to talk about the evil deeds of men and the marriage between sons of God and the daughers of men (Ch 6:2)? 43 | Local Church ministry | 1 Cor 9:22 | azurelaw | 215211
I understand this verse is not properly applied to the situation I am going to address. However, the spirit of evangelizing does fit. For outreaching the youth in the neighbourhood of my church, a few leaders suggested our preacher to pay several field visits during lunch time to the shops or restaurants where students usually gather to find the possible means of contact. Now there is a brewing idea of opening a tuck shop for the ministry (though this is only at the idea-building stage). I, personally, have great reservation on the idea. Here are my concerns: 1/ Resource (both in terms of money and manpower) properly used as we have very tight resource and the rental price is high. 2/ Goal could be twisted from outreaching ministry to maintaining a balance account. 3/ Is it the purpose of local church and a biblical way to reach the lost? I need views grounded with scriptural support. Your help is very much appreciated. Shalom Azure |

44 | pronoun used and its effect to readers | Ps 14:6 | azurelaw | 213889
From v1-5, David used the 3rd person pronoun for the evildoers or the wicked. Why then only in v6, a sudden change to 2nd person pronoun? Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

45 | naming and subordination | Gen 3:20 | azurelaw | 213406
We see that Adam did not name the woman Eve when she was brought to him by God in Gen 2:23 after he had given names to other animals nor did he name her Eve when God blessed them to be fruitful and multiply the earth (1:18). Now, Adam named her Eve. Does it render the thought that such action explained her being in subordination to Adam based on God's punishment as per 3:16 which also in accord with ruling status over other living creatures as appointed in 1:26 through naming them in 2:19? My points are: 1/ Was Eve subordinate to Adam only after the Fall? 2/ Did Adam's action of giving name to Eve signify his ruling power over her? Thanks and Shalom Azure |

46 | Did God bless the beasts as well | Gen 1:25 | azurelaw | 213274
God created all living creatures in water and birds in the sky and He BLESSED them to be fruitful and multiply the earth (Gen 1:20-22). He did the same to man as well (Gen 1:28). However, I did not find He gave the same blessing to the beasts of the earth. Did God actually give the same blessing to the animals on earth? Thanks. Azure |

47 | freedom of speech on the pulpit | 2 Tim 2:15 | azurelaw | 213006
Believers are usually encouraged to be like Bereans to examine what has been preached to us with the Scriptures. Unlike traditional music ministry where a choir sing classical hymn, contemporary style incorporates modern hymns (many of their lyrics are more or less problematics), prayers, scripture reading and a bit sharing by the leader. In order to guard against what will be said is unbiblical or man-centred or wholly emotional driven, should the pastoral office exercise a certain level of control such as requiring the submission of the transcript and modern hymns beforehand? Though it is not as intensive as a pastor preaching on the pulpit, the contemporary worship style still has the function of teaching/preaching to the congregation. How should we balance the "freedom of speech", "trust" and "accountability" as per James 3:1? Thanks and Shalom Azure |

48 | pastor / shepherd? | John 21:17 | azurelaw | 211251
John 21:15-17 Nowadays, there are pastors ONLY engage in teaching in seminaries and giving sermons on the pulpits. Is "pastor" equivalent to "shepherd"? If so, it seems to me that much of the responsibility that required of a pastor has been ignored or tend to be specialized (division of labour). What are the criteria for pastoral ordination? Thanks for your input and insight. Shalom Azure |

49 | focus of the commendation | Mark 12:43 | azurelaw | 210821
This passage has been treated as a commendation or praise that Jesus made about the selfless offering and total dependent on the provision of God by the poor widow. However, from the context starting from Ch 11 v12 to Ch 13 v1, Jesus has been rebuking the religious leaders. The preceding verse (v40) of 12:43 and v1 in Ch 13 appear to be a strong background for Jesus' remark of Ch 12:43 expressing the extreme level of pressure that the religous leaders posed on the poor. Therefore, could the focus of the commendation be more of a rebuke of the religious leaders instead? Shalom Azure |

55 | perfect? or good? | Mark 10:18 | azurelaw | 203417
In the chapters of God's creation, there is not a single word of "perfect" but just God commented what He created was good. Was man made with perfection? I completely believe that God CAN create anything with perfection, but might He (for some reasons) create man beyond perfect even though sin did not enter the world when Adam was created? Thank you for your enlightenment. Shalom Azure |

59 | Where were the bones placed | Ezek 24:5 | azurelaw | 202071
Take the choice of the flock. Also pile FUEL BONES under it, Make it boil well, And let the cuts simmer in it.” (New King James Version) Take the choicest one of the flock; pile the LOGS under it; boil it well; seethe also its bones in it. (ESV) take the pick of the flock. Pile WOOD beneath it for the bones; bring it to a boil and cook the bones in it. (NIV) Take the choicest of the flock, And also pile WOOD under the pot. Make it boil vigorously. Also seethe its bones in it." (NASB) Take the choicest of the flock and burn also the UNUSED BONES under it, and make it boil well and seethe its bones in [the pot]. (Amp) Where were the bones actually placed, beneath the flesh inside the pot or used as fuel under the pot? V10 looks like to me that the bones were put inside the pot but beneath the flesh. So, which translation is more acceptalbe? Thanks and Shalom Azure |
