3441 | Questions??? | Matt 27:3 | BradK | 74234
thetowns: It is an interesting and not unanimously agreed upon question. I too take the view that Judas never repented- simply because we don't have any scriptural basis for knowing he did! However, I do believe that the passage you cited from Matt. 27:3-5 does shed some light when understood by 2 Cor.7:10: "For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death." I believe Judas had regret and the "sorrow of the world producing death"- his own. Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

3442 | Is the Sabbath on Saturday? | Bible general Archive 1 | BradK | 74081
Brother Billy Joe, I certainly do not believe I've taken ANY scripture out of context to destroy the authority of the 10 Commandments! Please show me how Romans 6:14 then is not scripture? You ask,"Please tell me what scripture refutes the authority of the 10 Commandments and how can I keep Sunday still read 1 John 3:4 with a clean heart before God?" Well, I would offer that your interpretation of 1 John 3:4 is rather narrow:-) I believe it best be interpreted in light of 1 John 3:4-9 as well as the rest of the NT- especially the Pauline Epistles. In direct answer to your question I offer the following scriptures. Romans 10:4,1 Cor. 1:30, 2 Cor. 5:21, and Gal. 3:13, 21-22. Brother, in all seriousness, I can only echo the words of Paul in Gal.4:21, " Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the Law?" As for me, I thank God for His GRACE! I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain." Speaking The Truth In Love, BradK |

3443 | Holy Spirit without evidence of tongues? | Acts | BradK | 74080
Hi cajam, You state that,"A better question may be,can one receive the Holy Ghost without speaking in tongues?" My answer would be found in 1 Cor. 12:29-30! An even better question would be, Do you seek the more excellent way and pursue love? Speaking The Truth In Love, BradK |

Dear inajon, I'm still not abundantly clear on what you're trying to say. How does Daniel 2:43 in context relate to your response or this discussion? Your syntax is very difficult to understand:-) Speaking The Truth in Love, BradK |

3445 | To whom do we belong? | Bible general Archive 1 | BradK | 73757
Both Joe and John Reformed have spoken with wisdom. I would much prefer to "stand on the shoulders of giants" verse reinventing the wheel! I believe Proverbs speaks volumes to this topic. Prov. 1:5, "A wise man will hear and increase in learning, And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel," Prov. 9:9, "Give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser, Teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning." Prov. 13:20, "He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will suffer harm." Speaking The Truth In Love, BradK |

3446 | basics of manhood and why are we here | Eph 2:10 | BradK | 73729
troys1029, Firstly, we have the account of creation of man in Gen. 2:1-7. As to why we were created, both Eph. 1:5 and 2:10 speak in part to this. Much more could be added or said, but time limits my response. Hope this helps, Bradk |

3447 | Tongues?Ecstatic Utterances or Languages | 2 Corinthians | BradK | 73694
kingte1234: You said, "even Paul did not know for sure if he would make it to heaven, so how can we be so sure. He can bless you with all the gifts, but if yonot producing fruit you will be lost." Could you clarify this by providing some scriptural support for your contention? We know Paul wrote in Romans 8:38-39: 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." 3449 | Is the Sabbath on Saturday? | Bible general Archive 1 | BradK | 73626
Brother Billy Joe: I'm curious, as the Apostle Paul says that we are no longer under law but under grace in Romans 6:14. How would you then reconcile what you stated with Colossians 2:16-17, "Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day— 17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ." 3450 | Are Tounges a sign of Spiritual Baptism | Acts 2:4 | BradK | 73384

3451 | Are Tounges a sign of Spiritual Baptism | Acts 2:4 | BradK | 73345
Inmyheart, It is not my intent to "debate" but rather to discuss. You still did not address the specific grammatical problems I brought up :-) If Jesus Christ said believers would, then how are we to align that with scripture where Paul clearly says "not all have the gift of tongues"? 3452 | Are Tounges a sign of Spiritual Baptism | Acts 2:4 | BradK | 73330
Inmyheart, I would have to challenge your answer here. First off, you ask, "What is the will of God?" Well, we know it is the will of God for us to give thanks in everything (1 Thess. 5:18).From a scriptural standpoint do we know it to be Gods' will for us to speak in tongues? Secondly, the focal point of Pauls' argument is found in 1 Cor. 12:31- 14:1. What is "the more excellent way"? LOVE! What does he command us through the use of the imperative in 14:1? To pursue LOVE! I would righfully propose that it is Gods' WILL for us to love one another as opposed to speaking in tongues. (1 Cor. 13, Gal.5:14, Matt. 22:36-40) Lets look at 1 Cor. 12:29-30: 29 All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of miracles, are they? 30 All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? All four of these questions in verse 29 have the negative Greek particle preceding them, which means the the answer to each question is no. Verse 30 has the same grammatical construction as the preceding one; therefore, we can affirm that all do not have the gifts of healing, all do not speak in tongues, and all do not have the ability to interpret languages. "Does God want you to speak in tongues? ABSOLUTELY!" Your rather unequivocally strong answer does not appear to me to have strong Biblical nor grammatical support:-) Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

3453 | Isn't Baptism neccessary for salvation?? | Rom 10:9 | BradK | 73109
CDBJ, A very succinct response. Amen! I think the importance of 1 Cor. 12:13 is often overlooked:"For by ONE SPIRIT we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit." A fundamental rebuttal for "requiring" baptism as necessary for salvation can be found in Rom.11:6, "But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace." 3454 | No healing? why? | 2 Cor 1:4 | BradK | 73072
EdB, Well said! I hope that your words of wisdom are received in the manner in which I presume they are written- in love. You correctly state,"I think the answer to your question is there is not many Christians that oppose the belief in divine healing. What most oppose are the false teachers and charlatans that are involved in it." Amen, I concur wholeheartedly. Speaking The Truth In Love, BradK |

Dear Pistos, While I'll simply agree to disagree with the Word of Faith theology, one of your statements deserves elaboration. You state,"You should never base your theology on someone elses success or failure." I quite agree, and would add that ones' theology should be based upon the Word of God not experience! 3456 | Isn't Baptism neccessary for salvation?? | Rom 10:9 | BradK | 72742
Disciplerami, My dear brother, I would offer that your response to Tim was very harsh and uncalled for. This "person" on the Forum sees no such thing as "Tim's mangling of scripture". I rather concur and feel that he has provided both a sound basis and proper exegetical response to his words. As to respect, it is most certainly earned. Our brother Tim has my respect in this matter as well as others pertaining to Greek Grammar. By your own words, you have neither demonstrated "talent" nor tact in your response:-) Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

3457 | Are we bound by OT Laws? | Rom 6:14 | BradK | 72595
Dear IHH, I would refer you to the clear statement in Rom. 6:14. Also, Rom.8:1-4 and 10:4. The passage in Galatians 3:19-25 may also shed some light: 19 Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made. 20 Now a mediator is not for one party only; whereas God is only one. 21 Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God? May it never be! For if a law had been given which was able to impart life, then righteousness would indeed have been based on law. 22 But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. 24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.(the Law) In my view, there is a basic distinction to be made in scripture between the Law and Grace.I hope this helps. 3458 | who are the 144,000 | Rev 7:3 | BradK | 72527
The problem with the number is that it is clearly symbolic, but the question is, Symbolic of what? Three major scholarly options have been given. The first is that this figure is symbolic of a group of Jews whom God will redeem at the end of the age. The second is that this is symbolic of a group of martyrs whom God preserves for martyrdom. The third is that this number is symbolic of the whole of the church, which God will protect through the tribulation at the end of the age. Only an examination of the data will show which of these is most likely to be correct. (Walter C. Kaiser, Hard Sayings of the Bible, Page 761 (Downers Grove, Il: InterVarsity, 1997, c1996). 3459 | Divine Healing? | Matthew | BradK | 72302
Dear Inmyheart, Let's say that I agree with your position on Mark 16:15-18. As all the signs listed in vs.17-18 are in the same context and apply to us today, what of "taking up serpents" and "drinking anything deadly"? In all honesty, would you or have you done so? Do you have the faith? As I see it, because of the context, ALL of these signs, by your reasoning are still in place? If so, then to be consistent, one would not exclude any of them from current practice. We should see believers(with faith) willing and able to exercise these sign gifts? The challenge I see with this is that we do not see this consistency displayed in the public arena. Why do we not see, the numerous healing ministries on TBN stepping out on "faith" before their audiences to proclaim the entire truth of Mark 16? Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

3460 | What is the time of the tribulation? | Bible general Archive 1 | BradK | 72222
Welcome David, As to your question regarding "church affiliation", there is nothing direct. We represent a variety of backrounds and denominations. Feel free to check out my user profile and those of others for more specifics. However, as you've notice there is a fair amount of "indoctrinated beliefs" posted by individuals from time to time. Thankfully, the majority of these are eventually removed because of various violations, etc. It is a responsibilty I take seriously, to "accurately handle the Word of God" (2 Tim.2:15). By far, the majority of others on this Forum,as you should note are very sound in their approach to Biblical exegesis and interpretation. I've been blessed, and it is my hope that you will be also:-) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
