244 | Why present tense used in Isiah 53:4-5 | Bible general | Bob777 | 241986
In Isiah 53:4-5 it says: “…by his stripes we are healed.” Present tense is used here. 1 Peter 2:24 it says: “…by whose stripes ye were healed.” Past tense is used here. I’m guessing 1 Peter 2:24 uses past tense since Jesus’s atonement had already been done to provide for salvation and healing. Is that right? Since the attonement hasn’t happened yet in Isiah 53:4-5, why is present tense used? |

245 | jobs suffering | Job | zeagle50 | 241983
hello, thanks for the help in answering my question. I read the book of job, and am having a hard time understanding, if job was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil, why did god test him so harshly? It sounds like job was a good person, and I don't understand why god would allow all that happened to job. It almost seems like god was cruel by allowing satin to torture job? I know it was probably a test for job, but he really suffered a lot. thank you |

247 | Islam the religion that hates Christians | Luke 6:28 | justme | 241970
I BOUGHT A English translation of the Qur"an. After reading it I have strong feelings about Muslim's. Anyone who says that Islam is a religion of peace has not read the Qur'an. The Qur'an calls for Muslims to make war with Christians and Jews. Chapter 9:29. Muslims are commanded to kill idolaters who do not accept Islam. hose who believe Jesus is God are infidels. Jews and Christians are to be attacked and terrorized. Muslims are to lie and deceive infidels (Christian's and Jew's). The way Muslim men are to treat women is horrid to say the least. Muslim men can have more than one wife, and their treatment of young females is unbelievable. I see Islam as a religion in which Satan is very pleased with. When is see so many people on TV are saying how kind, peaceful Muslims are, I can hardly believe what I am hearing. I see how many Muslims have been placed in very important positions in our government I am deeply concerned. When I see a Muslim in a store I have strong feelings that bother me. How am I as a Christian to treat these people of this religion of hate and deception? justme |

259 | Use of preposition "for" in Isaiah 61:3 | Is 61:3 | mamabear6 | 241916
I have a question on Isaiah 61:3 and it involved the original Hebrew. The translations that I read often say beauty FOR (emphasis mine) ashes, the oil of joy FOR morning... When I look this up in the Strong's, there is no Hebrew preposition which is denoted there but merely the words that mean beauty, ashes, etc. Why is this? And if this is the case, that there is no preposition denoted, why did the translators use the word "for". It just struck me this morning that another preposition might have been used and it would be even more profound in what Christ did for us on the cross. Anyone who can help would be great! Thank you! |
