241 | The New Birth - A Survey | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 128956
Country Girl; Thank you once again for your reply. I would like to ask you another question if I may, which will better help me in completing my survey. You say to put you down as "passive" So the question I have is: Would you classify your "repenting" as being passive or active? Blessings New Creature |

242 | The New Birth - A Survey | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 128955
Hello Brother Tim; I am in complete agreement with EVERYTHING you said. In this discussion I am trying to focus on one single aspect of the whole salvation picture. A gift is one thing, and certainly salvation is a gift. Likewise, I realize that we cannot have salvation without "regeneration" or the "new birth." Both are one and the same. I am of the mind that those who have believed and received Christ by faith, most certainly and necessarily must be "born anew." But the term salvation, at least in my understanding differs from the term "new birth" Therefore by trying to focus on "regeneration" for this study, to see how different our beliefs are on this topic is what I am attempting to accomplish. It's just a personal study of mine, in which when completed, I hope to be able to share my findings about what participants in this forum believe. I have already seen where some believe, we are passive in regeneration, while others are saying that we are either active, or at least semi-active in bringing about the event called regeneration. That is why I find this topic interesting. God bless you brother Tim New Creature |

Country Girl; Believe me. I understand. My personal survey is intended only to see whether or not individuals believe we are passive or pro-active in the event called "new birth" In other words did you or did you not do something to bring about your new birth? Blessings New Creature |

245 | The New Birth - A Survey | Not Specified | New Creature | 128857
I have been conducting an ongoing survey of willing participants in this forum. I would like to be able to wrap up my survey, but would appreciate your help. It would be helpful for me, if I could get as many responses as possible to the following question: In the event we Chrsitian's call "born again" which also has been called the new birth or regeneration, do you personally believe we are personally active or passive in bringing about our "new Birth?" All you have to do is answer; active or passive I do not desire to disagree with anyone, or argue about this with them. I just want to finish this survey and give you my findings. God Bless you all New Creature |

Rowdy. Thanks for the reply. I now better understand your position on regeneration. Let me ask you one more question. Since you believe that the event called "born again" occurs when the individual is immersed in baptism. Would it be correct to assume, therefore that you are pro-active in bringing about your new birth. In other words. Since you personally must decide to submit yourself to become baptized, then your act of submission makes you pro-active in the event, rather than passive. Would you agree? God Bless you New Creature |

Hank; Thanks for that insight on the word "see" In my initial thoughts concerning the word "see" I was not so much referring to physical sight, in which we see with our physical eyes, but rather I was thinking about spiritual sight. And I don't think our physical eyes are what we use to see or comprehend spiritual things and truth. When it comes to the realm of spirit, we often associate the heart as the organ of sight. For instance we often sing; "Open the Eyes of my Heart Lord, I want to see You." In that song there is no mention of our physical eyes. The heart is the organ of sight. The unbelieving world says; "First show me, then I will believe. But the spiritual man says; when I believe then I will see. In the relam of the Spirit belief even precedes sight. I hope that helps you understand my thinking about this somewhat. God Bless New Creature |

Hank; Thanks for that definition. Compare that definition with the following one. "the term regeneration has been chosen to designate the initial act, that act in which God alone is active, while conversion is frequently used to designate the logically subsequent phase in which the person is active as a result of the grace which the person’s consciousness is engaged in the exercise of faith and repentance. Regeneration in this restricted sense is logically antecedent to any saving response in the consciousness or understanding of the subject. Regeneration is a change wrought by the Spirit in order that the person may savingly respond to the summons, or demand of the call, embodied in the gospel call." (John Murray, Collected Writings of John Murray (Edinburgh: Banner, 1977), Volume 2, pp. 171-172). God bless you Hank New Creature |

Hello again Steve; From reading your replys, it appears that you believe that "repentance" precedes "regeneration" and that "faith" is subsequent to "regeneration." Would that be correct? Blessings New Creature |

Hello following him; Once again, thank you for your comments. I think I now better understand your position on this topic. Secondly you asked: "Will you share with us your findings?" Sure, once a few more replys come in. Even when I give you the results, I would appreciate it if you would remember that, the findings were initially only meant to serve as a survey to see how the understanding of other believers concerning this differs from my own personal thoughts on this. hello following him; It was good to hear from you once again. Below I posted a couple of your comments. "In response to your question I would say we are active but only as one responding to the direction of the Lord: For example see the scriptures below the works we do are originated in God. He prepared them that we should walk in them. Our response is to walk in them." "The Spirit gives life to our mortal Bodies - By the Spirit we put to death the deeds of the flesh." - "You are a son of God if you are being led by the Spirit" - "The spirit interceeds for us." "God causes all thing to work for our good - In Rom 8:29-30 you can see our progress from glory to glory is realy God's work being performed in us. We only respond to Him. If we will not respond to Him then I would say that would be living according to the flesh (see Rom 8:13 above) and regeneration does not take place." So I can better understand you. I would like to ask you another question if you would be so kind. the question is. Do you believe the Holy Spirit dwells even in unbelievers, and remains inactive in them, until some at point in their lives they become aware of His indwelling presence, and at this point they begin actively responding to Him? I hope I didn't propose too diificult a question |

Hi Steve Thanks for the quick reply. I agree with your definition of "regeneration" which you said means "born anew or born again." Let me ask you another question if I may. In the event called "regeneration" do you believe we are passive or active in it. Blessings to you New Creature |

257 | Santa Clause or Jesus Christ? or both? | Deut 5:6 | New Creature | 128384
hello jalanlambert Below I have attached an article I found quite a few years ago. Just thought I would post it, so you and others can enjoy it. "Why JESUS IS BETTER THAN SANTA CLAUS" Santa Lives at the North Pole... JESUS is everywhere. Santa rides in a sleigh... JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water. Santa comes but once a year... JESUS is an ever present help. Santa fills your stockings with goodies... JESUS supplies all your needs. Santa comes down your chimney uninvited... JESUS stands at your door and knocks, and then enters you heart. You have to wait in line to see Santa... JESUS is as close as the mention of His name. Santa lets you sit on his lap... JESUS lets you rest in His arms. Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, what's your name?" JESUS knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads. Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly... JESUS has a heart full of love. All Santa can offer is HO HO HO... JESUS offers health, help, and hope. Santa says "you better not cry"... JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you." Santa's little helpers make toys... JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions. Santa may make you chuckle but... JESUS gives you joy that is your strength. While Santa puts gifts under your tree... JESUS became our gift and died on the tree. Neat, huh? |

260 | Your thoughts? | Matt 12:32 | New Creature | 128374
Hello tgc; In a comment to fool, you said: "Can a christan backslide yes and will God deal with that yes but He will deal with that person as a parent deals with a child and yes that can sometimes be quite severe up to and including physical death. But God will not cast that child away from Him" In the final sentence of that paragraph, it is said; "God will not cast that child away from Him." I agree with that, however let me ask; Since we agree that God won't cast His child away. Is it possible that the child can cast God away? Let me reword that in the following manner. Is it possible for the child to disown God? Blessings to you New Creature |
