241 | When may a church compromise the Bible? | Hebrews | Jensen | 17104
Thank you for providing parts of the article that gives us ways to locate a new church. You have given me much to consider. Does your own church that you attend always, that is always, do as Jesus told us to do or does it make some compromises? Where may a church compromise and under what circumstances? I know that you are very busy but you seem to post many notes. Please, I do not want you to go to any great trouble but if you could recommend a book rather than a web site I would be forever in your debt. God Bless, Jensen |

242 | Can I trust this Pastor? | Hebrews | Jensen | 17105
This pastor has a non-denominational church in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It is small but growing since they are building a larger facility. Is it really important to you? If it is and you can explain why it is I would be reluctant, but still happy, to tell you more. God Bless, Jensen
243 | Can I trust this Pastor? | Hebrews | Jensen | 17343
May I end this discussion? Many of you have offered what seems to me to be good, sound advice. Most have offered it respectfully and all have offered it in love. What a truly diverse community I find myself in. My understanding thusfar, concerning the knowing of Scripture and His will, is best summed up by the account of the Pharisees(sp?) arguing with one another as to the coming of the Savior. They were the most knowledgable, and best educated of all the Jews (if I understand correctly.) They are represented by todays Pastors, Priests, Bishops, Forum contributors, and teachers in this way; That they would quote lots and lots of Scripture to each other saying, essentially, what they wanted to be true (that this Jesus could not, in no way be the Messiah according to the Scriptures) just as those today quote lots and lots of Scripture to make the case for what they want to be the truth. But, of course, He was and He proved it by His resurection and most of those best versed missed it. And it continues to be shown to be true by the fact of the many lives that were/are changed (including my own.):) And today many of these fallible men have caused us to become disunited. I offer this witness; the multitude of denominations (cults?) that can not agree on a simple method of Baptism - what is the correct method, the correct wording, is it even necessary - when in my limited understanding if I depend on anything other than His saving Grace I have missed the Messiah completly. I am saved by what He said (Grace) And what He said ONLY. I believe the Bible, and the Bible ONLY. I recognize that, as a new creation, I will change and have indeed changed in small yet perceptible ways that were not of my own making. And that this change is not and will not be brought about by the pressure of men but, rather, the "pressure" of the Holy Spirit which is in me. I have a desire to "join" a local church but it is to Praise God that I join and not praise the many words of the best educated among us. If a preacher insists on possessing a sure fire knowledge of a "debateable" area, such as the author of Hebrews, how can I trust him for advice based on Scripture. I am not lazy and would always seek to prove the lesson of Scripture on my own. But it would be a lot easier to facilitate my Christian growth if the preacher would just say something like "It is not agreed upon universaly but..." As you might have noticed, I still have a bit of that cynic in me :) yet I know that this too has limited days. May God Bless All of You, Jensen |

244 | Loss of Salvation? | Hebrews | Jensen | 20615
Dear Chabornik..Welcome to the Forum :).... In the upper right hand portion of your monitor you can see "Quick Search", just above "Get Bible Text." If you type in Heb 6:4 and click on the search button you will be taken to the posts on your question. You can read what has been discussed so far at least. God Bless....Jensen |

245 | What was verse is the covenant | Heb 7:22 | Jensen | 45554
Dear Controlling...Welcome to the Forum :-) The word "covenant" is used 271 times in the Bible. Thats a lot of verses. Can you narrow your question, perhaps be a bit more specific. What is it you want to know? If you can tell the Forum a little more detail you will be helped. However, Hebrews 7:22 has one of my favorite uses of the word:-) God Bless....Jensen |

246 | Peace with whom? | 1 Pet 3:11 | Jensen | 19733
"Whoever would love life and see good days..." must seek reconciliations that produce non-waring conditions. This armistice is pursued by all of us and with all of us. Individuals, groups, and nations would do well to heed this advice even if they must suffer for doing so. We pursue peace by living for God. Living for God will result in peace, a state of mutual harmony especially in personal relations. God Bless...Jensen |

247 | While Jesus was dead, what was he doing | 1 Pet 3:19 | Jensen | 40868
Dear Tommie...Welcome to the Forum :-) There is some degree of speculation as to what "all" Lord Jesus was "doing" at this time. You must remember that God is outside of time, His creation. But some suggest that this verse is evidence of at least one thing that Our Lord saw fit to do. 1 Peter 3:18ff " For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, (19) through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison" The good news was preached to those who were still not saved. Perhaps there were believers and non-believers in this prison. Speculation only. Others on the Forum will follow shortly with their perspective. Hope to hear from you again. God Bless....Jensen |

248 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | 1 Pet 3:21 | Jensen | 33161
Dear Honest Abe...Welcome to the Forum :-).... For a more complete discussion of this ongoing topic of debate you may want to search "baptism" as well as follow this thread. There are some very good discussions on BOTH sides of this debate. For me I am saved by Grace. And Grace alone. God Bless....Jensen |

249 | Creation vs Evolutionists | 2 Pet 2:1 | Jensen | 16696
The Genesis record is not credible, unless you are a Bible believing Christian or an Orthodox Jew. The record is "credible" if you have a Biblical worldview. It is not "credible" if you have an Evolution worldview. Both views are supported by the evidence of modern science. Creation, and a young Earth, actually have most of the scientific evidence on it's side. Creation, like Evolution, is a theory since no one was there when it(either?) happened. The incessant attacks are made simply because people do not want God. If there really is a God then He may hold me accountable for my life. So it is easier to not believe in a Creator. So perhaps your question should be "Why should I believe the Bible to be true?" Genesis is the foundational book of the Bible. If there was no Adam, there is no need for a Jesus. But we know that, according to the Bible, Adam lived less than 12,000 years ago-not millions and billions. So either Adam existed, and was a real honest to goodness man, or he did not exist at all. Either Jesus died for our sins, and rose from the dead, or He did not. The Bible says that sin entered the world through one man, Adam. Do you believe that? If you do not, then you will also tend to believe in Evolutionary Theory. I would be happy to try to explain in greater detail the scientific evidence for Creation and a young Earth if you are interested. I know that I have given a brief answer and that it may fall short of what you were looking for. Take heart-you will have other replies. In the Creator's Service, Jim |

251 | Is today the only day of salvation for a | 2 Pet 3:1 | Jensen | 41153
Dear Arnie.…You Wrote…. “I don't think it is either just or merciful to send billions of people who have never been given a chance to know the truth to eternal damnation.” And I was just wondering if you thought that if people would just lead a good life, wherever they are, and did a bunch of community work to help others, or was just an all around nice guy….that he should deserve and be given salvation? Just curious :-) God Bless….Jensen |

252 | Is today the only day of salvation for a | 2 Pet 3:1 | Jensen | 41224
Dear Arnie.... You Wrote..."Well the world would sure be a lot better place, now wouldn't it." Referring to an earlier post of yours that did not see a "just and merciful" God at work in the way salvation works. I'm happy that you think you found a better plan for the world than God has established. If I understand your position, and the words are there for all to read, we all deserve to receive whatever we want regardless of what our Creator wants. But wait! My man designed lawnmower no longer wants to cut grass and my other man made objects no longer want to work in the way I have designed them to work. The revolt of the machines!! The insane have taken over the asylum. Oh no. But surely that is better than submitting to a designer or Designer/Creator. After all you would argue, how could the designer know any more than his design as to what is best? Satan’s folly dear friend Arnie. Harry Truman said “Nothing is new except the history you haven’t read” and that applies to all of us studying the Bible in the Christian community. If indeed you are a Christian. We sometimes get jokesters on the Forum. But I think you were serious when you said that if God would do it your way the world would be a lot better place. God Bless….Jensen P.S. Usually after a few posts on the Forum, contributors will tell us all a little about themselves in the “personal profile” section. I enjoy your input and look forward to knowing a little more about you. God Bless. |

253 | Mystery of lawlessness? | 1 John 3:4 | Jensen | 41145
Dear Cyclist….Here is a comment on your question using 1 John 3:4. The mystery of lawlessness is the mystery of sin. Lawlessness is the outward manifestation of the heart turning to sin. Lawlessness, and so to the “man of lawlessness”, is restrained now by what is written on our hearts. That is to say our collective hearts. But there apparently will come a time, during the prophesied apostasy, when our collective hearts will embrace in some degree this “man.” And He will come. God Bless….Jensen |

254 | What sin does not lead to death? | 1 John 5:17 | Jensen | 31938
Dear just…… No sin (almost any sin?) committed by a believer will lead to death. That is to say that eternal separation from God will not be the result of any sin of the believer. The sin has been atoned for. There is one sin that can not be forgiven….Matt 12:31 “And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.” But even this may not lead to eternal separation. I’m not sure. God Bless….Jensen |
