225 | who was the Sanhedrin | NT general Archive 1 | jlpangilinan | 127802
In addition to information you received. EASTON BIBLE DICTIONARY ENTRY ON: Sanhedrim more correctly Sanhedrin (Gr. synedrion), meaning "a sitting together," or a "council." This word (rendered "council," A.V.) is frequently used in the New Testament (Mt 5:22; 26:59; Mr 15:1, etc.) to denote the supreme judicial and administrative council of the Jews, which, it is said, was first instituted by Moses, and was composed of seventy men (Nu 11:16-17). But that seems to have been only a temporary arrangement which Moses made. This council is with greater probability supposed to have originated among the Jews when they were under the domination of the Syrian kings in the time of the Maccabees. The name is first employed by the Jewish historian Josephus. This "council" is referred to simply as the "chief priests and elders of the people" (Mt 26:3,47,57,59; 27:1,3,12,20, etc.), before whom Christ was tried on the charge of claiming to be the Messiah. Peter and John were also brought before it for promulgating heresy (Ac 4:1-23; 5:17-41); as was also Stephen on a charge of blasphemy (Ac 6:12-15), and Paul for violating a temple by-law (Ac 22:30; 23:1-10). The Sanhedrin is said to have consisted of seventy-one members, the high priest being president. They were of three classes (1) the chief priests, or heads of the twenty-four priestly courses (1Ch 24:1-31), (2) the scribes, and (3) the elders. As the highest court of judicature, "in all causes and over all persons, ecclesiastical and civil, supreme," its decrees were binding, not only on the Jews in Palestine, but on all Jews wherever scattered abroad. Its jurisdiction was greatly curtailed by Herod, and afterwards by the Romans. Its usual place of meeting was within the precincts of the temple, in the hall "Gazith," but it sometimes met also in the house of the high priest (Mt 26:3), who was assisted by two vice-presidents. 227 | Foot washing are still applicable today? | NT general | jlpangilinan | 243739
Perhaps during that time this actions is applicable, as we can read in the Bible, Christ with his Disciple done a lot of walking to preach the Gospel. Nowadays, preacher has Royce, Force, Ferrari, and sometimes has a private Jet, walking in red carpet with their luxurious shoes, for example the sandals/shoes of the popes are highly decorated with gold, no need for foot washing necessary. |

229 | How many humans created? | Genesis | jlpangilinan | 12996
Hi there, I'm interested in what you have mentioned (Christ in his humanity would have no "original sin," ) of course Jesus Christ has no Original sin Becuase he is God. Philippians 2:6-7 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and also ordinary people has no original sin Please see those verses Hebrews 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. |

230 | How can we understand Genesis 3:15? | Genesis | jlpangilinan | 25580
I hope this would help you. Ge 3:15 v14,15 God passes sentence; and he begins where the sin began, with the serpent. The devil's instruments must share in the devil's punishments. Under the cover of the serpent, the devil is sentenced to be degraded and accursed of God; detested and abhorred of all mankind: also to be destroyed and ruined at last by the great Redeemer, signified by the breaking of his head. War is proclaimed between the Seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent. It is the fruit of this enmity, that there is a continual warfare between grace and corruption, in the hearts of God's people. Satan, by their corruptions, buffets them, sifts them, and seeks to devour them. Heaven and hell can never be reconciled, nor light and darkness; no more can Satan and a sanctified soul. Also, there is a continual struggle between the wicked and the godly in this world. A gracious promise is here made of Christ, as the Deliverer of fallen man from the power of Satan. Here was the drawn of the gospel day: no sooner was the wound given, than the remedy was provided and revealed. This gracious revelation of a Saviour came unasked, and unlooked for. Without a revelation of mercy, giving some hope of forgiveness, the convinced sinner would sink into despair, and be hardened. By faith in this promise, our first parents, and the patriarchs before the flood, were justified and saved. Notice is given concerning Christ. 1. His incarnation, or coming in the flesh. It speaks great encouragement to sinners, that their Saviour is the Seed of the woman, bone of our bone, Heb 2:11,14. 2. His sufferings and death; pointed at in Satan's bruising his heel, that is, his human nature. And Christ's sufferings are continued in the sufferings of the saints for his name. The devil tempts them, persecutes and slays them; and so bruises the heel of Christ, who is afflicted in their afflictions. But while the heel is bruised on earth, the Head is in heaven. 3. His victory over Satan thereby. Christ baffled Satan's temptations, rescued souls out of his hands. By his death he gave a fatal blow to the devil's kingdom, a wound to the head of this serpent that cannot be healed. As the gospel gains ground, Satan falls. |

231 | Why God tolerated Abraham and Isaac? | Genesis | jlpangilinan | 29314
Genesis 20:1-12 If abraham is truly a man of God why he afraid for his life? He is coward? a liar (although we know that sarah is his half sister) but he dont tell the whole truth to Abimelech. If we analyze these verses and what happened when Abraham offer Isaac to God it seems that abraham is ready to kill his son but he afraid if his life is the one involve? Why God tolerated this kind of actions of Abraham? If we read of what happen to Rebecca and Isaac (Gen 26:1-22)the same thing that he lie to Abimelech for he afraid that people might kill them because rebecca is beautiful. Are they family of a coward and liar? what kind of Man of God these persons was? God bless, Johnny |

232 | Why God tolerated Abraham and Isaac? | Genesis | jlpangilinan | 29430
I am confuse why they call abraham a father of faith? and a faithful one. Ga 3:9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. Your second statement I would not agree with this" Your statement:"The Bible shows that no one is, save Christ" Bible stated that there are some perfect: Ge 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. God bless, Johnny |

Searcher, but they are still under heaven! Gen 6:17 "Behold, I, even I am bringing the flood of water upon the earth, to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life, from under heaven; everything that is on the earth shall perish. So it shows that God destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life, from under heaven. If God destroy all life under heaven, how about the whales shark and other sea life, did noah took them in the ark in order to preserved some of them. God bless, Johnny |

238 | Is Cain Exempted in Hell | Genesis | jlpangilinan | 235754
Is Cain Exempted in Hell and excluded in Heaven? Ge 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. during that time (as far as know) there is no 10 commandments yet) and the teaching of eternal life and eternal damnation was not mentioned to them... |

239 | Is Cain Exempted in Hell | Genesis | jlpangilinan | 235756
No, God did specifically tell them that they will going to hell for eternal damnation nor going to heaven for eternal life. Ge 2:16 ¶ And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: Ge 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. God did not mentioned to Adam that his soul will go to hell or heaven, what God said to adam was: Ge 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. did God mentioned eternal life in there? did God mentioned any piece of eternal fire in there? Simply None... |

240 | Is Cain Exempted in Hell | Genesis | jlpangilinan | 235763
Did you understand the question my friend? if not leave it there ok. In the new testament Jesus Christ had a teaching of eternal life and eternal damnation... Mt 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. My question there is no where in the conversation of adam or eve or cain that God directly tell them what happen to thier soul after death... Ge 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. Again I am not interested on speculation or answers without backing up scriptures... Thanks... |
