21 | Any meeting in the prayer meeting? | Matt 21:13 | fellowlaborer | 161217
Jesus said, My house shall be called the House of Prayer (Matt 21:13, Luke 19:46). Is He referring to the synagogue/church? From my experience in the church - there are usually 1 percent of the number of members that attend "prayer meeting" - why is that? Many churches do not have "prayer meetings" or "prayer groups" - yet, Jesus said, "My house shall be called the House of Prayer. What would happen if the numbers would come out or join in a group of praying believers?

My dear, I am thinking that the Host Ghost is the Holy Ghost. In that case I will start you in the book of Genesis chapter 1, to me versus 1 thru 3 shows the Triune Godhead; but, I will just direct you to verse 26 - let us and our image. I think the plural pronouns will help clarify. There are other scriptures; but, I will leave you with this. God bless you.
23 | Speaking in Tongue | Acts 2:4 | fellowlaborer | 160764
Dear ItsMe and Searcher and Praise the Lord Everybody! This matter of speaking in tongues excites me. Remember Paul said (I Cor 14 vss 1,2,4,5,13,18,32,39)I speak/pray in tongues more than all of you -- that lets me know it is a gift to be desired. There are some "speaking in tongues" when the anointing of God comes upon a person -that is not the gift - a gift is yours and can pretty much be used at your own choosing. There are "diverse" tongues. Also, for every gift or manifestation there is also a counterfeit; however, go forth according to your faith. Diverse tongues - there are "other tongues" which are other languages- and can be translated; there are "unknown tongues" which is between your spirit and the spirit of God--self edification;and, there are tongues that can be interpreted by the speaker or someone else. And-that should cover it in a nutshell:-). Be Blessed - according to your faith go forth in pursuing and/or speaking in tongues in Jesus name.
24 | 1 Timothy 6:3 | 1 Cor 9:19 | fellowlaborer | 218387
My dear Brother I have been in the faith and ministry for approximately 25 years. Of all the preachers and teachings I have heard, I found when I continued to hear their sermons... there was something that did not jive with God's Word. All of us will continue to learn and to grow... I will enjoin you in prayer and my admonishment to you is to know that you know that you know you are moving with God. The Spirit of the Lord will lead you where you should serve, the times and the seasons. Rom 8:14 No offense, but when I read that questionnaire presented by one of our brothers, my heart wrenched. From my personal experience, I have been in some congregations where it wasn't so much as what I received but what I gave. And as God gave opportunities I would teach and preach as the Lord led. And, I constantly engaged in prayer for the leadership and the people. Usually when I was in a place of contentment the Lord would lead me to the next mission. For then could I hear His still and quiet voice. My brother put on the whole armour of God... pray. Eph 6:10-18. Be blessed. |

25 | Is is a sin for a male to have long hair | 1 Cor 11:14 | fellowlaborer | 161311
Is it a sin for a man to have long hair? From my studies I read the Nazarite men had long hair. I know Samson and Absalom had long hair.
26 | boasting in oneself 3:27-31 | Gal 2:16 | fellowlaborer | 161202
My Dear Y.R. the question you have asked is answered in the scriptures you identified. A reference scripture is Galations 2:16. When you learn of Him(Jesus) we learn that we can do nothing of ourselves - He is every breath we take and every move we make. So we do not boast in ourselves we boast in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in which we received by faith into our hearts and every Word - we receive by faith in Him. God is a jealous God and deserves all glory, honor and praise. Please if I have not answered your question, restate it and maybe others will give additional input. God bless you.
27 | "Women being silent" | Gal 3:28 | fellowlaborer | 218359
As I read the dialogue regarding "Women being silent" I noticed something. The scriptures that were outlined pertained to women who had a husband; which would be the role of wife. The creation of the woman was always a part of God's plan. The order of creation was perfect for as man noticed the male and female animals; then God relayed this powerful and profound truth. When God created all things He said "It is good." Yet, for man to be alone God said that is not good. And, Adam was promoted :-). Please excuse me for jumping around... Now, the word "usurp" by definition means to take authority by force. (And, I have seen this happen too many times in the marriage union.) Now, I Tim 2 opens with admonishment for prayer and for "all in authority." And at the latter part of the chapter when the woman is mentioned the direction again went toward a marriage union. Also, women having positions of authority is not a A.D. occurence. We find that Deborah was a judge - in the book of Judges. History identifies notable queens, e.g. Queen Esther; as well as, notable women mentioned in the genealogy found in Matthew 1. Also, historians give the probable dates for the book of I Timothy as unknown. The probable date for Galatians 55 and 60 a.d. II Timothy probable dates between 65 and 67 and in this book the Apostle Paul acknowledges Timothy's grandmother and mother with credit for Timothy's faith -- maybe they did some teaching. Paul spent time and was taught by Aquilla and Priscilla. Which I will quote Gal 3:28 "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Those who are led by the spirit are the sons of God. I don't know if I said everything that came to me or if you can follow me... I just trust that we will "...hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man." And, I believe it is referring to all mankind. And the apostle Paul also says those who are unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord 1 Cor 7:32-34. Let us be about our Father's business. |

28 | Scripturally, can women be pastors? | Gal 3:28 | fellowlaborer | 218360
I was just reading the latest excerpts on the forum and when it comes to women serving in the ministry - I believe the address of II John 1:1 was addressing a female pastor. I don't know if her husband was a pastor and may be passed away and the position became hers. But, Apostle John did not mention a husband; sounds like a single parent. Look at the scriptures outlined in the discussion of "Women being silent" and hear what the spirit of the Lord is saying. Be blessed.
29 | Scripturally, can women be pastors? | Gal 3:28 | fellowlaborer | 218372
Well, I have no profound answer. Most of the letters were written to a church...and usually the leaders were addressed. Thank you for the commentary excerpts... I am taking a turn, for I am not sure "elder" is a less authoratative designation for we find the elders around the throne of God Rev 4:4, 5:5 and, I do beleive one of the elders may be the Apostle John. Also, from the commentary excerpts, I extract this to be a woman of influence and even one who imparts instruction. My own deduction -- a pastor. :-) Thanks again. Be blessed! |

30 | "Women being silent" | Gal 3:28 | fellowlaborer | 218373
Beautifully put. Our God and Father is so awesome He allowed us to see the stages of change from Old Testament to New Testament. He showed us David's shortcomings and his growth... Joseph's shortcomings and his growth Jacob's and even the Apostle Paul. And, I believe as he grew in Christ...(and as we grow in Christ), we can receive the greater knowledge God longs to impart unto us. I am grateful for the discussion for it has brought a broader perception of our awesome God and His awesome plan for us. As written in the book of John, "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come." It's a Wonderful Life. Be blessed. |

31 | Some do not have enough money to buy. | Philippians | fellowlaborer | 106676
Dearest Tess with anything good, there will be perversions and/or counterfeits. This is a time when Jesus - the reason for the season - is celebrated consciously or subconsciously. Because our Father is gracious in His giving; His word admonishes us to be willing and cheerful givers. I know Christmas has been commercialized and it is easy to be entangled with the cares of this world; but to God be the glory, we know giving encompasses so much more than money could buy: when we make cards or gifts, bake goods, serve in various capacities (when it's done in love to share the love of the Lord there will be life inspiring blessings). Like you have said "... magnifies human inequities," that reminds us to pray without ceasing. Our Father is counting on us to be examples and lights in this dark and sinful world - and since this is the time the church at large have chosen to celebrate Jesus's birth; let's have a great time and share the good news of His coming. And with the words from Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are (paraphrasing)just, lovely, pure, things of virtue and praise, think on these things. |

32 | Define the triune being. | 1 Thess 5:23 | fellowlaborer | 223353
Are there scriptures that define the three parts: spirit, soul and body? Are we considered as triune beings? The mind of the spirit - is that another dimension of the spirit?
33 | Will the real Christian please stand up? | James 1:27 | fellowlaborer | 161229
This question may be consideed an appeal. Nowadays, believers are claiming to have no religion - yet James 1:27 mentions a pure and undefiled religion is ... Maybe our goal is to have this type of religion which can only be accomplished by a healthy relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. Is Christianity a religion identified by Christians - those who are Christ-like? Or should we allow "Christian" to just be a concept, idea or lean-to. I think if we would boldly challenge or qualify those who say I'm a Christian we could do some serious witnessing. What do you think?
