21 | baptism when and who | Acts 2:38 | ceebee7 | 178508
Thanks for your reply mark. The couple in question as far as I am aware see no wrong in their living arrangements, hence my hesitation in baptizing them. As I said once before it is not so much the living together that's the problem, it's the fact that they see no wrong in it. What then differentiates them from the world?
22 | baptism when and who | Acts 2:38 | ceebee7 | 178507
Thanks Doc. I have had another response to the issue to which I answered today. However you have only made my resolve so much more substantial in the fact that I will step out of the situation should they (the headship) insist I still baptize them, as I cannot in good conscience go ahead with it. God bless. CB. |

23 | Living together and baptism ,what would | Acts 2:38 | ceebee7 | 178497
With all due respect, that does not address any of the issues that I enquired about. Are you saying that the couple in question can be baptized with the full knowledge of the church knowing of their situation? Wouldn't this be condoning the act of living together whilst unmarried? thus saying yes come on in we will baptize you regardless of you living situation, It is interesting to talk to people of different ages as to their response to this question, for instance the majority of people I've spoken to, born pre 60s (includes me) are of the mind that this issue needs addressing before they are baptized, and the people born after that time are more reluctant to want to do anything about it. The act of living together isn't actually the issue is it? it's the fact that this couple and many many others don't think that there is anything wrong with it, even when it has been pointed out to them scriptually that in my view is the real issue here. As the person baptizing them I have a huge problem with this and I would really appreciate some other views on the matter. By the way you gave me Exodus 1 on... as a reference I think I must be missing something? |

24 | baptism when and who | Acts 2:38 | ceebee7 | 178421
Thanks Hank. My understanding of repentance is, to go the other way in thought deed and word to what the person lived pre being born again. To determine to become more Christ like in everyday life and living in general. The couple requesting baptism are living together as if married. I understand that we are to "work out our own salvation" and that the christian journey is a work in progress (thank goodness for grace). The thing is, If this fact hadn't come to light none would be the wiser and they would be baptized in ignorance, but now the fact is known what is the responsibility of the church?

30 | baptism | Acts 19:3 | ceebee7 | 170102
Acts 19:3-5 John baptized in his name. The people he baptized were re baptized in Jesus name. Apart from that. Why would you want to be baptized more than once? It would be the same as asking to be saved again. Why would you want to? and wouldn't it be annulling what Christ has already done for us? Please take this as a personal view only as I am unable to find any references to the contrary. Not to say that there aren't any. In Christ. Chris. |

34 | Still puzzled as to how he was woken | Ex 21:5 | ceebee7 | 165691
Dear Efrain. Thanks again for your patience. I have only just joined this site and I don't handle computers too well. I realize now that I asked a follow up question to a topic earlier on, instead of going into the "ask questions" area. So obviously Ex 21:5 has nothing to do with this current topic. My apologies if you have been scratching your head over this. I must say though that Matt 8:25 was one of the scriptures that I first Quoted and so of course I have read it and every other scripture in the bible pertaining to this topic. I was hoping that as it has been preached that He was shaken awake, someone out there may have had a different translation to the many translations I have here. It seems the preacher got it wrong. However never mind, that just gives me an opportunity to use more grace doesn't it?. God bless. Chris. |
