21 | Knowledge of Messiah | John 3:1 | carolisblessed | 218977
John 1:30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. 31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come BAPTIZING with water. 32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. 33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. 34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. John1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not Acts 13:27-28 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him. And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain. Mark 8:27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am? 28 And they answered, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets. 29 And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ. John 3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. 9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? 10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? 11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 22 | compels them in to hear about God | Luke 14:23 | carolisblessed | 218975
You commented, "with God leading that giving a-ways Bibles ets., God won't be upset with us". I had a fisical experiance on this. My community was invited to go to a C.O.G.I.C. church of which I am, to get boxes of free food, house hold items, and baby items car chairs ets. I didn't know untill the end what truely was going on. They set all that up to compel/draw the sinner, but everyone was anxious including me to get in line for the free stuff. Most important I did see people going to the front for prayer! Another which I did not attend, C.O.G.I.C. church had raffle drawings to compel/draw the sinner and christian to come to his Pastorial Anniversary Service. A visting paster's wife won a 40in TV... hummm... would these actions line up with the word, me I'll leave that to God to judge. But I would feel condemed if I paticipated in the second one. |

27 | that I might gain themthat are without | Luke 14:23 | carolisblessed | 218926
Does it line up in the word of God to go to a place that would cause you to physically duck hoping that a church member doesn't see you, yet your doing God's work? I Cor. 9: 20 And unto the Jews I becaem as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; 21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. 22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. |

34 | Should fornicators be leaders in church | Ps 111:1 | carolisblessed | 177889
God Bless You Bereaniam, Here are some scriptures I found concerning your question. I hope they help Matt 7:16 Ye shall know them by their FRUITS. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their FRUITS ye shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Matt 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. I Cor. 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God I Cor. 6:13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. 14 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power. 15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's I Tim. 5:1 Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren; Titus 1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; NOT SELFWILLED, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; 8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; 9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. 10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: 11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. I agree with everyone, and feel this goes much deeper although we don't know the intire situation of the two stories given. It made me think of three things I came accross, one was seeing the movie Left Behind, how the pastor gave God's word every Sunday but didn't believe himself and his flock was raptured but he was left behind. And second, I also seen a simular situation of unmarried pregnant young women in our church. I also witnessed my pastor sit them down for a period of time. They could not operate in the church untill a time period after birth. Then they could usher, get back in the choir, give announcments. Not much else was allowed, condemnation and repentance needed to take place. And last, I attended a church that has a wonderful praise and worship team, some are born again and one is not, I have a glorious time giving God praise everytime I hear them, because my spirit connects with the words of song to God and I become filled. The spirit of God will reveal those things that are not of Him, and He will teach our pastor, leader,us how to deal with each situation, if we operate in God and not in self. God is not the author of confussion. Hope this helps, God bless you all, Carol |

35 | Can pastors retire? | Bible general Archive 3 | carolisblessed | 177664
Hi Azure I haven't found any scriptures that would support a pastor retireing. But I found some helps. You ask why do we have retired pastors nowadays? To much leaning on the flesh and not the word and spirit of God's guidance I would say Phil 2:25 Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants. 26 For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick. 27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. 28 I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful. 29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation: 30 Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me. 1 Cor.3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's WORK shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. Gal 6:4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. II Tim 4:6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have fishished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Hope this helps Carol |

37 | can couples stay interested w/out lustin | 1 Cor 10:12 | carolisblessed | 177104
Do you want a friend who is not your mate, if your married? Or a partner who’s not really your partner, a talking buddy, an acquaintance, a councilor, maybe someone you can talk to now and then, of the oppisite sex. Well I’ll tell you like this; it starts of innocent, small, not really meaning anything. A little talk, maybe serious talk at first, then a coffee outing, next maybe meet up at the gym, later a little snack followed by some more talk which turns into laughs, jokes, hugs, touches, and kisses, then before you knew it was coming, WHOOOPSSSY!! We think we know our flesh, or how strong we are in the spirit, but why put yourself in a MAYBE tempting spot. Psl. 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. 1Cor. 10: 12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. Matt. 5: 27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. James1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. 1Cor. 7: 7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. 8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. 9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. Hope this helps God Bless you, Carol |

38 | Should the Church tithe also? | Num 18:26 | carolisblessed | 176779
I've read someones answer on this topic before, and they expressed how churches are not under bondage anymore, that we are free, and that we should not be forced to tithe that it should be a free will offering. I havn't yet seen anything in the bible to support that. So I'll be obediant to the scriptures and to those who have rule over me(my Pastor) and he's a God fearing Leader who strongly goes by the scriptures. You asked the question does the bible say how to tithe, I found this scripture, Numbers 18: 21 And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the TENTH in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. 26 Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a TENTH part of the tithe. Tithing in new testament - Matt. 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay TITHE of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Tithing in old testament - Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have ROBBED me. But ye say, Wherein have we ROBBED thee? In tithes and offerings. 9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have ROBBED me, even this whole nation. 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Hope this helps, it helped me. Carol |

39 | Baptism by gesture or required? | NT general Archive 1 | carolisblessed | 176776
Baptisim is an outward show of an inward change, and we do it to be obediant to the scriptures and to represent the change from the old man/sinner to the new man/saved. Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. Baptism is the changed heart Rom. 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. No sence being baptised if your not willing to except Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal savier. All your doing is going down a dry sinner and comming up a wet sinner. Someone said it's like taking a bath with your dirty clothes on. Focus on the soul having a renewing of the mind, baptism is a symble of that. Hope this helps, Carol |

40 | animals going into the Ark unclean/!!!!! | Gen 7:2 | carolisblessed | 176713
I studied Gen. Chapters 7,8,9 and underlined the area's pertaining to this point and found just a few. I would have to go according to what the scriptues say in Gen.7:2-3;8-9 and Gen.8:20 Breaking it down I found. Clean beast take by seven, male and female. Then it says, beasts that are not clean by two, male and female.(take it for what it say's). Then 7:8-9 again breaking it down, clean beasts and beasts that are not clean... they went in two and two.. male and female. Now look at Gen.8:20 And Noah building an altar unto the Lord and took of every clean beast... and offered burnt offerings on the alter. You see the seven clean beast and fowls where taken for an offering unto the Lord, the unclean ones where not. Don't take away from the scriptures or add to the scriptures. Hope this helps Carol |
