21 | Hating your parents, what does this mean | Luke 12:51 | TheCurtMan000 | 182738
'The cost of Discipleship' Hi, I'm The CurtMan. Luke 12:51-53 is an example of my life. My mother had five kids, my baby sister was ALWAYS my partner in crime. To say that we got into trouble together would be an understatement. When I became a Christian, that drove a wedge between us. I could nolonger continue to do the things we were doing, and she couldn't stop. Luke 14:26 Isn't telling us to hate our relatives, but that our love for our Lord should out weigh our love for our relatives so much so that in camparison it appears to be hatred. I love my sister, I always will, but I love Jesus more; and because of that my sister and I nolonger see eye to eye on things.
22 | Seeing God's face, no one has seen God? | John 1:18 | TheCurtMan000 | 183275
You know, if your students are anything like mine, you're also going to have to deal with Jacob who claimed to have seen God face to face. In Jacob's case however; he had wrestled an angel. In Moses' case, I've always understood that to be a figure of speach. Like buddy to buddy; pal to pal; man to man, like that. God spoke to Moses as one friend would to another. Exodus 33:11(ICB)The lord spoke to Moses face to face as a man speakes with his friend..... Continue to read down to the 18th verse, "Then Moses said, 'Now please show me your greatness'. 19)The Lord answered, 'I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you. I will announce my name, the Lord, so you can hear it. I will show kindness to anyone I want to show kindness. I will show mercy to anyone I want to show mercy. But you cannot see my face. No one can see me and stay alive'" Moses managed to get out of the tent alive and relay the story. Therefore it would be safe to assume that he did not see God face to face. Spoke to God face to face yes, but scripture doesn't say that no man has spoken to God, it says that no man has seen God. |

23 | husbands and wifes | John 10:27 | TheCurtMan000 | 182819
Actually they will BOTH be held accountable. If they are both Christians, then they both have the responcibility of knowing God's will and being obedient to it. Study to show thyself approved. The husband is SUPPOSE to be the 'Head of the household', the 'Spiritual Leader' If he misleds his household, he will be held accountable. Althought the wife is/was being obedient to her husband, her first responcibility is her obedience to God. ACCOUNTABILITY WILL BE HELD FOR VOILATING THE WILL OF GOD, be ye saved or not. |

24 | explaining to middle school youth | John 14:6 | TheCurtMan000 | 182801
Just out of curiosity, what does, 'come to the Father' means? Ask a class full of kids this question and your answers will very. Mostly around 'getting into heaven', 'getting to know God', and so on. To keep this whole thing simple; Jesus was saying that the only way this is possible, is THROUGH ME. Not through doing good works, or being good. Not through simply studying the bible, "You carefully study the scriptures because you THINK that they give you enternal life. Those are the same scriptures that tell about me. But you refuse to come to me to have that life." Jesus is the Way we must follow; He is the Truth we must accept; He is the Life we must live and hope to live. There is no other way to obtain God's merit; There is no other way to get into heaven; There is no other way to come to know God the Father, except through God the Son. Unfortnatly I can not simplify this more than that. I hope this helps in some way. |

25 | why no law between Adam and Moses? | Rom 5:13 | TheCurtMan000 | 182590
Genesis 3:22-23 Then the Lord God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us. to know good and evil. And now lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat and live forever" therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. To say that man was not held unaccountable for their actions would be incorrect. God held us accountable for our actions. The Law was yet to be written on stone tablets, but it was already written in our hearts and on our minds. If you continue to read through Chp.4 of Gen. You'll see that God held Cain accountable for the murder of his brother. If there were no law, there wouldn't be a need for such an action. If there were no law, there wouldn't be a need for Cain to lie about the whereabouts of his brother when asked. |

26 | Careful use of one's freedom | Rom 15:1 | TheCurtMan000 | 182576
Didn't Paul also stipulate in Romans 15:1-2 that we, the stronger brother, ought to bear the scrupoes of the weak? Is this not done out of love for the weaker brother? Are we not oblligated to watch our walk as to not to cause the weaker brother to stumble? And if it means giving up a few freedoms that we may find harmless within ourselves, is it not worth it (At least according to 1 Cor. 15:58)
27 | What do we focus on? | 1 Cor 12:13 | TheCurtMan000 | 183433
Wonderful point of view. Personally I believe if the entire body of Christ had that perspective we'd make for a much better witness. For me, however; I tend to try and focus on the entire glass, it helps to keep me balanced. However; there are times when I spend too much time focusing on the negative, and visea-versa. Would you say being unbalanced in either direction a good thing or bad thing?
28 | Speaking In Tounges | 1 Cor 14:13 | TheCurtMan000 | 183241
I remember my first experience with speaking in tongues. I was invited to a church by a friend. I went. At the end of the service the Pastor said that if anyone wasn't satisfied with their relationship with God, to come forward. Being less than perfect and knowing it, I went forward. We were all taken in the back. It was maybe six or eight of us. The Pastor then requested that we start speaking in tongues. I'm thinking to myself, “Dude must be crazy”. He patiently went through all the other people, taking his time and telling them to just say the first thing that came to mind. And he stayed on them until they got it right. Then it was my turn. Now I had three major problems besides being totally pressured. 1.) I did not have the gift of tongues. 2.) I never professed to have the gift of tongues. And 3.) My feet wasn't moving. I didn't know what to do. My head said, “leave”, my feet wasn't moving, and this guy was standing over me waiting. So, I faked the entire show. I ran a bunch of unintelligent words together, and spoke them as fast as I could. The Pastor smiled and said, “Good”. Now this had to be the most uncool thing that I've ever did. I didn't take lying in God's house likely. I explained all this to my pastor. And he explained to me that the gift of tongues was nolonger necessary for today. He took me to Hebrews 1:1-2 that says, “God, who at sundry times and in divers mannes spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2) Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son....” He said there was times when God spoke to man many different ways; dreams, visions, the gift of tongues so forth and so on. But today he said, all that God had to say to man, he has said through Jesus Christ. I hold true to that belief today. Since then I've encounter goo-gobs of people who speaks in tongues and there are two things I've always pondered over. 1.) An Interperter. Millions of people profess to the Spiritual Gift of Speaking in Tongues, but no one seem to Profess to the Spiritual Gift of Interpertation, at least no one that I know of, (maybe I need to broaden my circle of friends). The second thing that I've found curious is the Lack of Understanding. Personally, when I approach God the Father in prayer, I like to know what it is that I'm saying, or agreeing to. Anything less I would find totally disturbing. I do not profess to; speaking in Tongues, perfection, or even knowing everything. I do confess to being curious over this matter espicially when the word of God tends to specify them. |

29 | finally, my dear friends, be glad that | Philippians | TheCurtMan000 | 183821
We are to rejoice and take pride in our relationship with Christ. v3) For we who worship God in the Spirit are the only ones who are truly circumcised. We put no confidence in human effort. Instead, we boast about what Christ Jesus has done for us. We are warned against those who walk contary to biblical teaching and are given the characteristics of such. v18) For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemines of the cross of Christ. v19) Their future is eternal destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and all they think about is this life here on earth. |

30 | YOUR ATTITUDE SHOULD BE THE SAME AS CHRI | Phil 2:5 | TheCurtMan000 | 183234
Philp.2:5-8 (ICB) In your lives you must think and act like Christ Jesus. 6.) Christ himself was like God in everything. He was equal with God. But he did not think that being equal with God was something to be held on to. 7.) He gave up his place with God and made himself nothing. He was born to be a man and became like a servant. 8.) And when he was living as a man, he humbled himself and was fully obedient to God. He obeyed even when that caused his death-death on the cross. In short order, we should be like Christ, and be obedient to God no matter what the price, no matter what our status in life is. Jesus Christ was equal with God. He created this whole universe and everything in it, and yet he came out of heaven and washed the feet of man, he came down here to be an example of how we should live. We should be obedient to God, and we should love on another. This is what Christ did, this is how we should be. |

31 | caring for one another in the body of ch | Phil 2:5 | TheCurtMan000 | 183236
God gave ten commandments. The first 4 or 5 deals with our relationship with him. The rest however; deals with our relationship with one another. Philip. 2:5-8 kind of stipulates that we should have the mind of Christ and love one another to the point of death. My thoughts on caring for one another in the body of Christ is this: Do so at all cost, just be wise at HOW you do it.
32 | How will Jesus come back to earth? | Rev 1:7 | TheCurtMan000 | 183397
Acts 1:9-11 (ICB) After he said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up. A cloud hid him from their sight. 10) As he was going, they were looking into the sky. Suddenly, two men wearing white clothes stood beside them. 11)They said,'Men of Galilee, why are you standing here looking into the sky? You saw Jesus taken away from you into heaven. He will come back in the same way you saw him go'. Matthew 24:29 Soon after the trouble of those days, this will happen: The sun will grow dark and the moon will not give its light. The stars will fall from the sky, and everything in the sky will be changed. 30)At that time, there will be something in the sky that shows the Son of Man is coming. All the people of the world will cry. They will see the Son of Man coming on clouds in the sky. He will come with great power and glory. |
