21 | Where can we go online to read the NWT? | 1 Cor 15:27 | MrsBinGA | 56330
Hi Retxar! May I suggest you find a copy of the WTS's New Interlinear Translation of the New Testament, in addition to the NWT. The Interlinear edition is an EXCELLENT source to help JW's see how the WTS has deliberately mistranslated the Greek text to fit it's own doctrines. That translation is probably THE most damaging publication the WTS has ever produced. It clearly reveals the lengths they've gone to to mistranslate the Greek text and proprogate their heretical teachings. If you're not able to find a copy at a thrift store, you could possibly order one from the WTS, go to a local Kingdom Hall and buy one, or contact the many Christian organizations online which have a ministry to JW's. Blessings to you, Mrs. B in Georgia |

22 | Is smoking a sin? | 2 Pet 2:19 | MrsBinGA | 56044
I, too, smoked for many years, and I didn't even want to quit. I can still see myself sitting on the side of my carport, cigarette in hand, saying "Lord, if you want me to quit You will have to take the desire away from me because I just don't want to." Looking back, which has been 8-9 years, I can't pinpoint the day I stopped smoking. But at some point after saying that "prayer", I just didn't want the cigarettes anymore - and still don't. I can't take any credit for quitting. God "worked in me both to will and to do of His good pleasure" (Phil. 2:13). |

Angelface, I truly didn't mean to offend you. I was trying to encourage you to research the questions for yourself and thereby having a deeper knowledge of the Word, instead of replying on others to find the answers for you. Please forgive me.

Angelface, you have asked this question before. Also, you can find the answers to all your questions by researching them yourself instead of depending on this Forum to do it for you. And by doing so you will learn the Word much better, which I'm sure is your goal in the first place. 27 | If we are saved by grace alone through f | Eph 2:8 | MrsBinGA | 55427
The gospel doesn't save us. It is the gospel's message. As Romans 10:13-15 says: "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" I don't mean this as criticism, but I hope you're truly seeking truth and not merely playing word games with me. Blessings to you in Christ Jesus! |

28 | What's contain in the gospel that saves | Eph 2:8 | MrsBinGA | 55334
The gospel is summarized by Paul in 1 Cor 15:1-4: "Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures," (NIV) The gospel is the saving work of God in His Son Jesus Christ and a call to faith in Him. Rom 1:16-17 says: "I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: 'The righteous will live by faith.'" (NIV) Faith is more than an intellectual agreement to a theoretical truth. Faith is trust placed in a living person, Jesus Christ, and that He died in our place to pay for all our sins Rom. 5:6-8; I Cor. 15:3). Because of what He did for us, and our subsequently accepting His work on our behalf, we are now reconciled with God and stand complete in Christ Jesus (Rom. 5:10; 2 Cor. 5:18; Col. 2:10). We are also completely justified: "Through Him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses." (NIV) I highly recommend you read Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians. I think they will help you immensly understand what Christ Jesus did for you and who you are in Him. Blessings to you, Mrs. B |

30 | Can we say that the gospel is the grace | Eph 2:8 | MrsBinGA | 55272
A wholehearted "YES!" Acts 20:24 says "But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God." The word "gospel" means "good message." Anything less than our salvation by God's grace is NOT a "good message." If our reconcilation with God could have been obtained any other way, i.e., if there was something God could have required of us that we could have done, He would NOT have had to send Jesus. But there wasn't, so He did! Remember in Acts 15 how "certain men who came down from Judaea" were causing problems because these men were teaching the Gentile believers that they had to be circumcised AND keep the law of Moses. What did Peter say concerning this? "Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they." God's salvation by grace is so simple to understand, but man messes it up because he always wants to DO something to EARN his eternal life. But salvation is a free gift from God in Christ Jesus. You can't "earn" something that is free and is a gift, right? That's what makes it great news! -smile- Have a blessed day! Mrs B. (Donna) in Georgia |

31 | Dreans, and Angels? | Heb 1:14 | MrsBinGA | 55166
Hi Justme! Concerning God speaking to us today through dreams: Acts 2:17-18 says: "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:" I think every born-again believer would agree we are living in the last days. Therefore, God does speak through dreams. The verse in Matt 18:10 alludes to the fact of "guardian" angels: "Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven." You may draw your own conclusions. But since the Lord said He Himself would never leave us nor forsake us (Heb. 13:5) why would we even need a guardian angel? (smile) Blessings to you, Mrs B in Georgia |

32 | Jahovah's witness | Rev 7:4 | MrsBinGA | 54595
Hello Christian 7! Having been involved in a Christian ministry that witnesses to Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons, let me encourage you to know why you believe what you believe. Prof. Walter Martin, the leading authority on cult groups prior to his going Home, said "The average Jehovah's Witness can turn a Christian into a theological pretzel in a matter of minutes!" You will never be able to reach your friend by "arguing" Scripture. Yes, you need to do what I Pet. 3:15 says: "...sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" But praying for him is THE number one thing you can do. And be sure to share your testimony with him and tell him what Jesus has done for you and what He continues to do for you daily. Jehovah's Witness have no relationship with the Lord Jesus. And remember, too, their meaning of words are NOT the same as evangelical words. Example: Jesus to them is a created being, the "firstborn of all creation" that Jehovah (the Father) made; hell is only the grave. A couple websites I recommend are: www.watchman.org www.serve.com/larryi/ www.equip.org Be blessed as you share the gospel! Mrs. B in Georgia |

33 | Bible flash cards | Rom 12:8 | MrsBinGA | 54592
Nuge, if you have a typewriter you can type the verse on the front of the card, then place the reference on the back. If you have computer software, like MS Publisher, use it and use the same format as mentioned above. Index cards for printers can be purchased from an office supply store. The cards come 3 to a sheet and have perforations to separate them individually after they're printed. This method would be the fastest. If you have a color printer your text could be in various colors as I'll explain below. You can always hand write the verses, perhaps using various colored index cards for specific categories, i.e. red for salvation scriptures, blue for prophecy, green for promises, etc. Or use colored pens or markers for the categories and write on white index cards. Jack Van Impe's website used to have instructions on how Jack memorizes verses. This may help you once you get your cards made. Hope this gets your creative juices flowing. 34 | Does God have a spiritual body? | Eph 5:25 | MrsBinGA | 54204
Hello again In the Andes! I so enjoy your posts. They reveal a sincerity of heart in wanting to know truth even if the truth should go against what you presently believe. Have you ever pondered I Cor. 15:35-44? It speaks of various types of "bodies" and "flesh". We finite, 3-dimensional humans cannot possibly fathom, much less understand, our infinite God. But this biblical passage does say there is a natural body and there IS a spiritual body. I have heard so many popular t.v. evangelists/teachers using Biblical passages in an attempt to "prove" God has a body like man, even to the point of "proving" God is about 6 feet tall! What a damnable heresy! But what is even worse is true born-again believers are being taken in by these heretical teachings AND paying money to listen to it! From the beginning man has been trying to deify himself (make himself "god") and trying to humanize God. We will NEVER be able to understand God's ways or the things that pertain to Him OR EXPLAIN them. He says just that in Isa. 55:8-9. So, in my humble opinion, and based on I Cor. 15, I would conclude (at this point in time) God does have a spiritual body, as do angels. What a spiritual body is, I have no idea. But the Bible clearly states there is such. Have a blessed day, Mrs B in Georgia |

35 | In the Andes, name the Laws of the New | Ex 20:10 | MrsBinGA | 53642
In the Andes - I've greatly enjoyed reading your posts on this subject. They are totally scriptural! It's so sad to hear Christians trying to bring OT truths into this dispensation of Grace and thereby putting themselves back under the Law. That is "works of the law", which, as you know, Galatians 2:16 says "by the works of the law shall no man be justified." You may have given the following references in one of your posts. If so, forgive me for not remembering, and thus repeating them. Gal 5:14: "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." I, for one, would almost rather keep the 613 laws of the O.T. than try to "love my neighbor". That ONE law ain't easy! **smile** I love what Gal 3:22-25 says about the Law: "But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe. Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law". What could be more clear about the purpose of the law? It was given to LEAD US to Christ! Also, Rom 10:4: "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." And, Gal 5:4: "Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace". (Hmmmm . . . how many sermons have I have heard using that phrase "fallen from grace" to "prove" a born-again believer can "lose their salvation." Verses taken out of context are a pretext! **smile**) I'm thankful I am in Christ and that ".. by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses" (Acts 13:39). Everything the law required of me has been fulfilled BY Him; therefore I AM complete because I am IN Him (Col. 2:10). Resting in what Jesus did FOR me, MrsB in Georgia |

38 | I would like to reply to Timothy Paul. | John 1:1 | MrsBinGA | 53474
Timothy Paul, if Jesus and the Father are the same person, then what do you do with Rev. 4:2-5:12? Chapter 4 describes the One Who is sitting on the throne. Then chapter 5:6-7 states: "And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne." Who is the "Lamb" who comes and takes the scroll out of the hand of Him who sits on the throne? Jesus! But if Jesus and the Father are the same person, then Who is sitting on the throne? Does Jesus sit on the throne and then come and take the scroll out of His own hand? Even though our finite minds cannot possibily comprehend, much less explain, the Triune Godhead, the Bible clearly reveals it. Be blessed, MrsB |
