21 | SEEMS CONTRADICTION IN NUM 20:21-22. | Num 22:1 | MWLaine | 229822
The answer is in plain sight... God came to Balaam at night and said to him, "If the men have come to call you, rise up and go with them; but only the word which I speak to you shall you do." They did not come to call him. In the morning he rose and went... It seems the angel only told Balaam he would have killed him. Except for his donkey who saw more clearly than Balaam himself. Imagine that...a donkey with better spiritual vision than the prophet Balaam. Sometimes people must get the knot jerked in their tail before they see truth. |

22 | When did Jerusalem become holy? | Neh 11:1 | MWLaine | 229818
Gen 28:12 He had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. This was at the high place of God, Jerusalem. Jacob declared it holy and built an altar. |

23 | Mat 5:27-28. Adultery. | Prov 5:1 | MWLaine | 178151
A little reading may be required on your part to start with...Examine Proverbs 5:1-23 and then Song of Songs. Proverbs 5 is a warning against adultery and then Song of Songs is how you are to love your wife or husband. In Song of Songs it is described as being good that you long for your wife/husband. So it WOULD NOT be inappropriate to have a deep desire for your own wife/husband. It is appropriate, though, to warn about IDOL WORSHIP, in that, if your lust is simply for her/his flesh in the belief that you can satisfy some urge or spiritual connection then IDOL WORSHIP might be the problem. Only Jesus can satisfy your true spiritual needs. In dissecting your statement concerning the idea that without being able to look upon someone with lust would prevent your having a relationship sounds to me you have a selfish motive to consume upon your lusts the flesh of the "friend" you speak of. The second greatest commandment comes from Jesus and is to "Love one another as you would desire to be loved". This might include a spirit of giving, caring, compassion, helpfulness, kindness, tender words, respect, love, etceteras. All of these should be aimed at your intended spouse which is what a successful marriage is made of. If a marriage is simply about satisfying ones desires through sexual intercourse then it would be destined for failure because beauty fades and visual lust supposes that the object of your affection continues to hold your attention through its continued beauty. I assure you that lithe young beauty fades as children and age come into the picture so you need to examine your motives to determine where you truly stand when it comes to marriage. Unfortunately in your statement "be in a relationship" does not say to me...marriage it says to me... can't I just use this friend like a Kleenex and then throw her away. Don't sully a woman that might someday get married to a man who wants her for his wife and would desire Gods blessing with a pure undefiled woman.

More Reading... 1 Corinthians 7:1-40 These verses are all about what you are speaking of. In these verses the Apostle Paul speaks of encouraging those who can be like him - without a wife, wholly devoted to spreading the good news of Jesus and being lead by God for the purposes of his good work. BUT!!! Paul knows that God created man and woman to be together so he does not discourage marriage and indicates it is not sin to need a wife. If you are inclined for the need of a wife then it is AOK to have a wife. Otherwise Satan has a means to lead you into temptation through the thorn in your flesh that causes man to hunger for women. (Notice the plural?) If you have the thorn of lust it will not go away by avoiding marriage. It only becomes stronger and leads your eye to bounce from woman to woman. A wife helps you control your lust through the release of desire through intimate relations in the marital bed. A wife should know all there is to know about her man and should be your help-meet to remove the thorn of lust through valid marital relations. God designed man to desire a woman so as to be fruitful and multiply thus out-producing unbelievers with children that can be raised up in the knowledge of God, becoming believers in Christ our Lord. It is one of my great pleasures to sit with my children teaching them the bible so that they can become knowledgeable in the truth and word of God. Raise up your children in the way they should go and in their old age they will not depart from it.
25 | Mat 5:27-28. Adultery. | Prov 5:1 | MWLaine | 178175
I want to ask you a simple question? In trying to please God do you believe that you are working for, or being a participant in, your salvation? Jesus did all the work for us when he died for us on that cross. He took upon himself the sins of the world so that if we believe in him our sins are forgiven and we attain salvation. Afterwards Jesus comes into our temple(body/heart/mind) and knits a scourge of cords and proceeds to clean Gods house, our temple, of all unrighteousness. All we have to offer in this process is sitting patiently at the door and acknowledge, with repentence and sorrow, all the filthy sin that Jesus expels from the temple. This is a revelation from God, to my mind, that helped me in stopping my foolish attempts at sexual fasts, and the such, as a means to offer up to God something more for my salvation. I found that nothing more was needed other than my telling others that "I believe in Jesus Christ and that he alone is responsible for having given me the gift of salvation, through grace". I know what I am made of and have found I need a woman to help keep the flames of lust from over-whelming me. I had let God down in the past with a promise to him concerning a fast from the flesh of my wife for forty-days. Guess what I was a miserable failure and felt really bad for having failed God so I kept trying and the more I tried the harder I fell. Finally God gave me the revelation I wrote to you above. Jesus did all the work. You should simply be thankful and accept the gift, in faith. Since I have stopped striving and now look to Jesus to help me in my daily walk I find I am getting along much better as a Christian. Do not assume you are something more than what you are. For God says in Paslm 46:10 "Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth". If you want to please God speak of his son Jesus to anyone who will listen. |

26 | Mans appropriate relation to animals? | Prov 12:12 | MWLaine | 187295
Are there any references in the bible concerning man and appropriate relationships with animals? I have two brothers and one sister that keep cats and dogs living in their homes which create, for me, a problem with visiting them as I find the idea of cohabitation with animals in the home repulsive because of all the shed hair, fleas, and nasty excretions being left on rugs. In terms of groups like PETA I think they are Idol Worshippers of beasts. When I see someone give a tongue kiss to a dog I consider it repulsive beastiality. Are there any references to people keeping pets in the Old or New Testament that justifies the way people treat animals, nowadays? MWLaine |

27 | Animals in the New Testament? | Prov 12:12 | MWLaine | 187330
I SEE PETS AS A DISTRACTION FROM THE MISSION OF SPREADING THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST. MANY TIMES SINGLE PEOPLE WILL HAVE A PET COMPANION THAT KEEPS THEM FROM BEING LONELY WHEN INSTEAD THAT LONELINESS SHOULD DRIVE THESE SAME PEOPLE OUT INTO THE WORLD WHERE THEY SHOULD BE OPENING THEIR MOUTHS FOR CHRIST. I see people going way overboard in how they do show affection for animals...I have been witness to people pushing pets in baby carriages, providing the best foods for the pets fussy palate, letting it sleep in their beds, kissing the dog, and wiping or picking up its feces after it has made its doody. All these things people would do for a dog or a cat and yet would these same people bother to stop and talk to anyone about Jesus? Or, are they too busy taking care of their little distraction? I think PETA people are so zealous for animal justice that they would march in protests and burn animal test facilities to the ground yet these same people don't seem give a rip for babies ripped from the womb through murderous abortion. I never read of Jesus even once petting or loving on an animal. Nor, for that matter any of the Apostles after Jesus' departure. The times I did see animals mentioned in the New Testament it was in a working relationship with humans. Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a foal of a Donkey, comes to mind. I don't care if a person has animals that have a valid working relationship to their owner I just think it is a major distraction from what we Christians should be doing and that is spreading the Word, encouraging the saints, building the kingdom of heaven. Now with this young man having committed these heinous murders at Virginia Institute of Technology I think what if someone had taken the time to put an arm around him and lead him to the truth. I know Jesus would have. And the only way we can find these types of lost souls is by opening our mouths. |

28 | Animals in the New Testament? | Prov 12:12 | MWLaine | 187356
Thank you lionheart, I have been struggling with why I consider this over attention to animals sin and Matthew 6:33 nails it. I have always held to the idea that animals are animals. The dog I am petting today could be dinner tomorrow given my pressed need to feed my family. I suppose some people would find that a little twisted but I think God put all things here on earth for the good of men and women whom are made in Gods likeness. Plus, I also think that animals have a work purpose, as well, in deserving to have a relationship with the human they serve. Cats catch and eat mice and other vermin that bring disease around the household. Dogs provide an early warning system for danger. For this service we feed them thus maintaining their loyalty. It seems though that people pamper their pets as if they have a greater intrinsic value than what I can find to be biblical. My belief is that Idol Worship and False Gods, akin to the way Egyptians Worshipped Animals, is at the root of this problem. MWLaine |

29 | Animals in the New Testament? | Prov 12:12 | MWLaine | 187377
Lionheart, stjohn, and others, All of you who have helped in my edification on this issue deserve thanks. You are all my family members in Christ and as my family members I expected and recieved help on thrashing through what was happening in my spiritual life based on a disagreement with my sister over an animal. I had a disagreement with my sister on the length a person should go in providing Medical Attention to a pregnant cat. She had felt that the gestational period of the animal had been overshot and took the cat to a vet who wants to perform a C-Section delivery of the kittens. After delivery the vet was saying he was sure the cat is having trouble producing milk for the kittens and some alternate means of feeding them would have to occur. I responded to her that God made the animal to have kittens naturally and maybe she should just allow the cat to do what God had designed it to do. Were the cat to live or die I felt that God's Will be done. This got me called Hard-Hearted and told that anyone who would so torture or kill an animal would not slide gracefully into heaven. I don't think either of her comments were valid but Romans 14 puts me in a position in which I know I am right but why have the argument with someone who is at a different Christian maturity level. In the end I apologized for my callous words and asked "How about them Colts???". My position is known to all who have read these posts so I appreciate the call to Matthew 6:13 and Romans 14 and finally the truth that even the cats and dogs, living in the home, of a person who has found salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ benefit from the this persons new outlook on life. Well said and very edifying. |

30 | I am edified, can I help you? | Prov 12:12 | MWLaine | 187561
GKidder, I have been seeing your inputs on this issue (as in the following)... "You need to look in the book of Genesis to see why would even consider eating an animal in the first place. We eat meat and animals eat meat because of a direct response to sin. It’s because of Gods curse that we do these things, before the fall, all living things were vegetarians. And some day it will be that way again." .... Yes someday...but today I place myself squarely in this fallen world in which I place a greater emphasis on opening my mouth for Jesus to those humans who are lost and going to hell, than hiding my light under a bushel basket. I want to reach as many lost souls as I possibly can so that I can win the praise desired by all saints...WELL DONE THY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT. Concerning animals...I marvel at the range and complexity of animal life that God created. I have sit and watched hummingbirds and chipmunks in my garden and appreciate their single minded devotion to meeting their own needs (of which they are capable). The chipmunks are mindless to their danger, from me, as they dig up my carefully planted bulbs and garden beds. Yet, still they persist in defying my desire at having beautiful FLORA surrounding my patio. When they transition from eating the bulbs to burrowing under my homes foundation I change from passive to aggressive in ridding them from my garden as they are now dangerous to continued close contact based on my desire to maintain my homes continued sturdiness. I either banish(trap) or poison them to get them to leave the garden. In like fashion man did transgress the rules set down by God while we were in the garden with Him. And because of this we were banished from Eden. By the way God cursed the ground because of us, not us. But his sentence on man was that we should work the soil to provide our own food by the sweat of our brow. BTW: God killed the first animals to clothe Adam and Eve from their skins. I have a feeling/belief that having animals in our homes is based upon our attempt at setting up a selective micro-cosmic Eden. I also feel we are setting ourselves up as Gods to our pets. (This is my perception) We feed them, bathe them, clean up after them, and I sometimes believe that people expect a certain amount of Worship from their animals. A dog wags his tail and leaps with joy at his masters return to home(The Garden) in the evening after work. This brings satisfaction to the master that the dog does appreciate(worship) what is being done for it in all its upkeep, provided for by "The Master". A cat does not give half the joy to the Master as the dog but still they have their pleasant qualities. The master tolerates them as ankle ticklers and lap warmers in his garden. OH!!! What joy the master has in his garden. Only having to leave to earn his/her living by the sweat of his/her brow. But, in the cool of the evening the master can return home to his/her Eden and enjoy what he/she has worked so hard to provide for him/her self and maybe a cat, or a dog, and some fish in a bowl to round out the scene. What bliss!!! But, still next door a jealous husband beats his wife and terrorizes his kids. Down the street a little old man whithers away from malnourishment and neglect while his wealthy children only live across town. The teenage neighbor boy hates his life so much that he considers suicide. Problems, Problems, and more Problems. Could things change? YES!!! If these lost souls could be introduced to Jesus and be made aware of who he is; the Light of The World, both God and Man, the Sacrificial Lamb come to take away the sins of the world. Jesus came to offer a way of salvation to man, not animals. And now we, who are saved in Jesus Christ, owe it to our neighbors and our Real Master to stop wasting our precious time on things of this world that won't add to the spiritual fruit that our portion in the vine should be helping produce. Strive for the finish line and don't be side-tracked by these animal distractions. Seems plain as the nose on my face, which I can see if I close one eye. Why don't you close one eye and see what you are not seeing. NOW!!! The big question? Will you see this post as encouragment, or, discouragment? Enraging, or, edifying? I myself love men and women and hope that I can help those who are lost and without light. I will try my best to reflect the Lords Light so that some will be able to see. 31 | Animals in the New Testament? | Prov 12:12 | MWLaine | 187580
Mark, Covering both of your posts in one post. Well the last couple of years post salvation(2002) my garden has suffered because I am immersed in a new endeavor, namely consumption of as much of the Word of God as I can read from the bible, and from various commentaries, and such. I am looking to sharpen my evangelical gift and prepare myself fully for each new foray into the world of the lost. Yes God feeds his creatures. Why because they are His, not ours. Even when we spend some of the money(Gods money) we have earned on purchasing a pet we have only still affirmed that God owns what is His. The little ball of fur that he has now put into your possesion is a test of what will you now do? In your case it is Hermit-Crabs. But you decided to have them...So was it Gods will? or Your will? that put them into your possesion. You could take them and release them to their natural habitat where they will get along just fine or you could continue to possess them. I have no real preference and am not alluding, to you, that you should change your course. Examination of the heart is what I am trying to get people to do when it comes to pets, hobbies, and other interests, that remove from men the hunger for the perfect relationship to God, through his Son Jesus. I am just stating the obvious in that, for me, time spent in an endeavor contrary to developing and using my spiritual gift seems to be senseless. I do see a value to putting a pet into the hands of a child who should learn the value of taking care of something outside of their own selfish needs. My little girl likes cats and we even had two in our home for a short period which I had to put the kybosh on because of undue strain put on mom, and I, when trying to keep a tidy-clean house. My little girl was saddened when the cats were sent away but mom and I were full of happiness that one less requirement to our already busy lives was put aside. Yeah!!! Seems to me that there was a patron Saint to animals. So I would assume that God, through the Holy Spirit, gives gifts of all types to different men and women. What then do we do to develop what we have been given because our gifts are to be shared with all men and women, and not...as I said before...to be hidden beneath a bushel basket. 32 | what are all the little folly | Eccl 10:1 | MWLaine | 188692
A little folly? Lack of good judgment. A costly undertaking having an absurd or ruinous outcome. Therfore for a man vainly trying to demonstrate his wisdom, or honor, are found to usually become undone based upon the tiniest of follies. Like Osama Bin Laden's folly at poking at the USA sleeping giant. Eventually the giant wakes up and grinds the bones of their taunter to make their bread. Or, the foolish Jews who mistakenly shouted out that the blood of Jesus be upon they and their children. Guess what? It has been. Better to remain humble and be thought stupid than to open ones mouth thus removing all doubt. |

33 | Is the end at hand? | Joel 2:28 | MWLaine | 179542
Is there any evidence concerning the end times that people will experience visions and dreams that give spiritual credence to the approach of the Lord Jesus. I had a vision while praying the other moring that I was standing in a field with a scythe in hand, other laborers where present and I heard a voice say..."the harvest is complete". This troubled me greatly because I do not know it to be true as there are so many extremely lost souls all around me. I feel a need that we Christians need to re-double our efforts to collect those souls that are being lost. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
34 | Is the end at hand? | Joel 2:28 | MWLaine | 179556
Joanna, I have found myself looking often to the skys at dusk using the phrase Maranatha(Come Lord Jesus). But, I am very afraid for those who are still lost and/ or deceived. I have family members who are not ready and I will weep exceedingly if they become the left behind. I have testified to my immediate family but hear mainly silence in regards to their true relationship to Christ. I can't stop speaking and would give anything to hear them respond in something other than lukewarm platitudes. Other testimonies would cheer me greatly. And I really appreciate the Joel 2:28 passage. I am excited about the prospects of being with the Lord but I am afraid for many. I pray that when the Lord comes he will find his faithful laborers bent to the task of his work. I count myself as blessed to stand amongst his workers. Maranatha, MWLaine |

35 | Is the end at hand? | Joel 2:28 | MWLaine | 179557
BradK, Hard to say Brad. Since I am only reporting what I saw and heard in a vision during prayer I am only being faithful to speak of those things I saw. Would it make you feel odd that at my Christian awakening I heard a still small voice tell me I was the "Lost Lamb" after I had spoke into the darkness of the night "Who am I to you Lord". I am no longer lost but it is part of my testimony to others who would listen. So I suppose this is just another part of my testimony but it makes me wonder if we will see less of a harvest in the near future. Will the workers for Christ redouble their efforts but experience few yield gains. I do not know!!! But I will continue to speak of Jesus to those who would listen but I know that without Gods call to the lost his workers have no plants to collect for the harvest. Lord God, heavenly Father, take pity upon the people and though we are unworthy to ask it may we continue to glean the fields for grain that has been missed or has fallen to the ground. We know that you are a gracious and loving God as seen in the book of Jonah and we desire that your will be done on earth and in heaven. And, just as father Abraham asked that for the sake of 10-righteous men Sodom be spared we also ask for time to glean your fields and improve the yield of your harvest with your help. In Jesus name we do ask these things. Amen. |

36 | The actual date of the birth of Jesus? | Luke 2:1 | MWLaine | 163807
I would like to ask a question concerning the actual birth date of Jesus versus the celebrated date of the birth of Jesus (December 25th, every year). Why was December 25th chosen as the day we celebrate? Luke chapter 2 speaks of the time of the birth of Jesus to coincide with the 1st census commanded by Caeser Augustus while Quirinius was governor of Syria. While on site in Bethlehem Mary gave birth to Jesus. Can we zero in on the date approximately? Or, is this date a rough estimate or completely off the mark? |

38 | Will Christians be judged at our death? | Luke 23:43 | MWLaine | 176979
A question my wife was asking me last night as we drove home from Lexington Kentucky after seeing our niece get Baptized. "Being reborn at salvation means that our sins are forgiven. So at the end of our days on earth are we judged? And does Jesus stand in our defense to declare us as one of his own thus protecting us from Gods Judgement?(Imputed Rigteousness) Or are we Judged by God at our death for sins we have committed since our re-birth after accepting the gift of grace?". My wife believes we will be judged but I believe we have taken on the righteousness of Christ, through believing in him, and thus are seen to be pure and spotless as Jesus himself.
39 | By which law shall we be judged? | John 5:29 | MWLaine | 186547
We will be judged by every law and found lacking. You can do this yourself using Gods Ten Commandments. Go through each and let your conscience (with knowledge) be your guide... 1) Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and all thy soul. 2) Thall shalt not have/put/keep any false Gods before me. 3) Thall shalt not take the Lord thy Gods name in vain. 4)Thall shalt keepeth Holy the Sabbath. 5)Thall shalt honor thy father and mother. 6)Thall shalt not murder. Jesus says if you are angry with your brother/friend/stranger driving in the next car you are guilty of breaking this law. 7)Thall shalt not commit adultery. Jesus says if you look at a woman to lust after her you have already committed adultery in your heart. 8)Thall shalt not steal...anything even someones good name through gossip. 9)Thall shalt not lie. 10)Thall shalt not covet. CON-SCIENCE (With knowledge) Upon review of the above commandments your conscience guides you to the knowledge that you have broken every one of these laws. Denying it simply puts you in the position of breaking number nine, again. I always find it amazing when I review these laws. I am found lacking on all these laws in my past life(pre-salvation), and still I am tripping over these in my present walk with Christ (post-salvation). I dare not stand and look to the heavens like the Pharisee in Luke 18:10 and pray to God concerning my good qualities. Instead I realize I stand in the place of the Tax Collector. When I pray to God it sounds something like this "God have mercy on me, the sinner". God did have mercy on me through His Grace in having offered Jesus as a sacrifice to atone for my sins. I am forever thankful because now my debt is paid in full. I am not worthy but still I receive freedom. Praise God for his promise and I must always remember that..."I am a work in progress" but my works or progress does not justify me or take away my sins. Jesus took my place on the cross, so that I would not have to. Because I believe in Jesus and declare him as my Savior I know that when my trial before God is ready to start we will find that my sin docket has been wiped clean, to be remembered no more. Thank you God, and thank you Jesus. I ask God that I never forget that simple prayer..."Have mercy on me Lord, I am the sinner". It is when I forget this simple fact that Satan has the greatest opportunity to tempt me into sin, again. When temptation comes I beg God to have mercy on me, I am the sinner. I am not capable of standing on my own against the gates of hell and only God can protect me from the very evil thoughts of the pleasure of sin that gets me running down that wide path to my own destruction. God have mercy on me, the sinner. You should not ask which law will convict you. All of them will. Believe in Jesus and he will wash you clean. |

40 | Has Moses law been re established? | John 5:29 | MWLaine | 186562
M. Royal Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. Jesus said... Matt 5:17 "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. If you do not believe that the law is used to convict all men into the realm of the lost so that all men may recognize the error of their ways...then you do not believe in justice. Which leads me to believe you don't believe their is a God that judges. Why are you here? Are you in need of salvation? Do you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior? Do you believe in One God? Do you believe you are a man who will be sent to hell for eternity if you deny who Jesus Christ is, the Son of the Living God? I noticed you are selectively pulling partial verses for your dialoging. For what purpose other than to create a case for argumentiveness. Tell me of your salvation and I will discern if this conversation continues. |
