21 | Who buried Moses? | Deut 34:5 | Bows44 | 161560
Hi BradK, You stated: Scripture doesn't say specifically who buried Moses. Then you quoted Deut. 34:5-8. Doesn't the following statement from this passage say God buried Moses? Don't you believe the "He" in this scripture is referring to God? "And He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor; but no man knows his burial place to this day." Bows44 |

22 | Adultry | Judg 16:1 | Bows44 | 159109
Hi NightJay, To which scripture are you referring? In some scriptures it means actual in the natural prostitutes (i.e. Gen. 34:31, 38:15, Lev. 19:29, Joshua 2:1.) In others, it is referring to spiritual prostitution (i.e. Ex. 34:15, Lev. 20:6, Judges 8:27.) Adultery is not exactly the same as prostitution. Adultery is sex between a married man and a woman not his wife or a woman and a man not her husband. A person who looks at another with lust in his/her heart has already committed adultery in his/her heart. (Matt. 5:28) According to Webster's New World Dictionary prostitute: 1. to sell the services of (oneself or another) for the purposes of sexual intercourse 2. to sell (oneself, one's artistic or moral integrity, etc) for low or unworthy purposes adj [rare] given over to base purposes; debased; corrupt n 1. a woman who engages in promiscuious sexual activity for pay; whore; harlot b) a man who engages in such activity, esp. homosexual acts, for pay 2. a person, as a writer, artist, etc., who sells his or her services for low or unworthy purposes Pick a scripture that uses one of these terms and we can discuss what God is trying to say. Sincerely, Bows44 |

Greetings Makarios and Avonregal, Then there was Elijah who out ran a chariot. 1 Kings 18:44-46 44 The seventh time the servant reported, "A cloud as small as a man's hand is rising from the sea." So Elijah said, "Go and tell Ahab, 'Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.' " 45 Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain came on and Ahab rode off to Jezreel. 46 The power of the LORD came upon Elijah and, tucking his cloak into his belt, he ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel. 25 | Responsibility in the original text | Ezra 10:4 | Bows44 | 208595
What is the Greek word/number for the word translated as [responsibility] in this verse as well as in 1 Chrinicles 9:31, Numbers 4:16 and 1 Timothy 5:22. In the KJV, it is translated as 'belongeth unto thee', 'set office', 'to the office' and 'be partaker of' respectively. I am looking for all of the possible translations and original intent in the original language. Thank you.

27 | Ive neva seen him this close to slipping | Ps 132:1 | Bows44 | 150229
Hunger to know God is a good thing. It is the highest calling we have. (John 17:3, Col. 2:2) How do we know God? We read His word. A person who is slipping in thier faith is one who has stopped feeding thier spirit. Read the scriptures together that you both may be fed. Here are some good ones to help in this current situation. John 3:13, Eph 4:10, John 14:6 - Who can lead us to the Father? Only Jesus knows the way. What is not of faith, is sin, so come boldly by Faith. Rom. 14:23, Heb. 4:16 Deut. 8:3 - The Word of God is our sustenance. We need to eat of it daily - Luke 11:3 Also, God promises that if you seek him with a whole heart he will be found. Is 55:6, Deut. 4:29, Matt. 7:7 Let God purify your heart and clean your hands. Psalm 139:23-25, Psalm 24:3-4 Hopes this is helpful. Praying that you reach your goal! Philippians 3:13-15 (New American Standard Bible) 13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you; Bows44 |

29 | Pride is a good thing! Or is it? | Prov 23:7 | Bows44 | 153432
Dear Humbled, I would like to add my recommendation to Mommapbs. This book has been used in our church for several years. It is indeed biblically based. Not only have I read the book, but I have also gone through the workbook. It is all about getting over your issues because it isn't really about you, it is about Jesus. We were created by Him for Him. [Col. 1:16] We are hear to show forth the praises of God, [I Pet. 2:9] bring Glory to Jesus [2 Thess. 1:12] and advance His kingdom in the earth. [Mark 16:15] If we are all hung up on our own issues, we aren't going to be very effective. This book is one tool to help people refocus on what's important and work through those issues that are keeping them from fulfilling their purpose. If this book helps you in building your relationship with Jesus and fulfilling the purpose he created YOU for, then it is a good book. If it doesn't, then it isn't. But you will only know by checking it out for yourself. What works for one may not work for another. Hope this helps. Bows44 |

30 | Pride is a good thing! Or is it? | Prov 23:7 | Bows44 | 153605
Upon reviewing this thread, I find that my last post may not have suffienciently answered your question. I would like to add my answer to the others. First, to understand pride one must also understand humility which is the opposite of pride.(Andrew Murrays book Humility is a good one for this.) False humility is as bad as pride. We all have value; so much value in fact that God Himself came down in the person of Jesus Christ and shed precious blood on a cross to reconcile us back to Himself. Also, he has given to each of us not only a measure of faith, but gifts and talents which are supposed to be used for His glory. Rom. 12:3 For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. If we acknowledge our child's accomplishment, it should be in the context of giving glory to God. Teaching our children to accept a compliment graciously by saying, "Thank you. I am glad that God gave me the ability to this." is a good way to teach them to be humble, yet confident in this... Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I home school my son who is very smart. He used to struggle with pride until I taught him that he can only do what he can do because God gave him his abilities. I also taught him that we are to be good stewards of all that God gives us. This means we do our best. We have to let them know when they have succeeded, so they are encouraged to continue using their gifts and talents for the glory of God. They also need to know that they have value. Knowing they have value, that everything they have comes from God and that He helps them use what He has given them for His glory (not their's) should be a good antidote for pride. At least it seems to be working for us. Hope this helps. Bows44 |

31 | why not? How does it not fit in? | Prov 23:7 | Bows44 | 153610
Yes...our righteousness is as filthy rags, but once saved we have become the righteouness of God in Christ Jesus. It is no longer we who live, but Christ. The old nature has been crucified with Christ. Behold all things have been made new. Romans 3:22 1 Cor. 1:30 Phil. 1:11 Phil 3:9 Romans 7:5 Romans 7:18 Galatians 5:17 Ephesians 4:22 Colossians 3:9-10 2 Cor. 5:17 Romans 6:6 Gal 2:19-20 If we put ourselves down, have a wrong attitude about ourselves or display false humility, then we discount what Christ has done. So it is not pride in ourselves, but boasting about God and what He has done. We give all the glory to God taking none for ourselves. Phil. 2:16, Phil. 3:3, Gal. 6:14, 2 Cor. 12:9 Hope this helps. 33 | At what moment do we go to heaven? | Eccl 12:7 | Bows44 | 155604
I had a personal near death experience a few years ago that I believe this scripture proves is true (although having experienced it I know it is true, we do like to have scriptural basis for our experiences)...Jesus was walking me to Heaven and we stopped in a bright white room. Jesus spoke to me and gave me the choice to go on [to heaven] or to stay [here on earth.] Because of my son and husband, I chose to stay. Based on Eccl. 12:7, Phil. 1:21 and 2 Corinthians 5:5-8 as well as this personal experience, I believe that our spirit goes straight to heaven when we die. You may also do a word search on second death to gain a clear understanding of what death is. Death means separation. When we physically die, our spirit is separated from our body. When we are spiritually dead, we are separated from God. Hope this helps. Bows44 |

34 | At what moment do we go to heaven? | Eccl 12:7 | Bows44 | 155638
Dear Doc, Whether you like it or not people have experiences. Those experiences make up a large part of who each of us are. I have read your background and understand why you believe the way you do. However, that is not a license to disregard the experiences of others just because they don't line up with your personal belief system, especially when they are scriptural. Can you show me scripturally that experiences count for nothing? 1 Per 3:15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence The people this was originally written to did not have "THE Bible" as we have it today. What were they supposed to use to give an account for the hope that was in them except their personal experiences of the power of God in their lives. Many people today don't accept the Bible as the word of God or don't even believe in God until someone shares with them in love personal experiences. Then they realize that God is real and cares about people. I have won several to the Lord by sharing personal experiences with them. Rev. 12:11 "And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. So I will continue to share my experiences with others if it encourages them in the Lord or helps them come to Jesus. Also, sharing my personal experiences of God's love, power, kindness, mercy, awesomeness, etc. brings honor and glory to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To a lost and dying world who is hungry for a God of the here and now, personal experiences are the life line they need. Speaking the truth in love... Bows44 |

35 | At what moment do we go to heaven? | Eccl 12:7 | Bows44 | 155653
Dear WOS, I did not choose my son and husband over Christ. I am my beloveds and he is mine still and always. I chose to stay and finish the job He gave me to do. (Some days when my son is being especially difficult, I wish I had chose differently. :-D) But as you say, God is sovereign and it was He who decided to give me the choice and I chose what I chose. Without knowing my history, who I am, and what I went through you may not be able to understand why I had this experience and made the choice that I did. But, Jesus was happy with my response and honored it, so that is what counts. I am a God pleaser not a man pleaser. As some have pointed out, this is not an experience study forum. If you are truly interested in knowing more (not looking for opportunities to slam it) then I will be happy to discuss it further via personal email. My email is in my profile. Yours in Christ, Bows44 |

36 | At what moment do we go to heaven? | Eccl 12:7 | Bows44 | 155654
Dear Kalos, I am not questioning the scriptural validity of near death experiences. I was questioning the validity of a doctrinal position that does not allow for the sharing of personal experiences. I believe that the scriptures noted previously as well as 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 support the validity of sharing personal experiences and testimonies. 2 Cor. 1:3-5 3(A)Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and (B)God of all comfort, 4who (C)comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5For just (D)as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. We must always remember that the original recipients of these letters DID NOT have THE Bible as we have it today. Reading in context also means reading with the understanding of who, when, why, how etc. something is being said. Then applying it to our lives today. Why not say as Paul did in Phil 1:16-18 16the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel; 17the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my imprisonment. 18What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice Have a blessed day... Bows44 |

37 | At what moment do we go to heaven? | Eccl 12:7 | Bows44 | 155722
Hi Mark (and others,) I am not placing experience higher than scripture, I am supplimenting scripture with my experiences. The original post that started this long thread had both scriptures and my experience. I was stating what I believed based on those two things together. If others believe otherwise and wish to share what they believe and why, then they can and do. This is what this forum is all about..sharing what we belive based on scriptures and whether some want to admit it or not experiences. Our experiences have a large bearing on what we choose to believe or not. This is a fact. Mark...as for not being able to discern valid experiences or not, the Bible says: Matthew 7:16-18 "You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? "So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. "A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. If you could take the time to get to know me personnally, you would find that I am passionately in love with Jesus and serve Him with all of my heart. I can pass the test that someone else out lined...I declare Jesus as Lord and Savior, born of a virgin, crucified dead and buried and risen again. I have confessed with my mouth the Lord Jesus with faith in my heart, been water baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit and am therefore born again. You would find that I am a good tree bearing good fruit, therefore I can not according to this scripture bear bad fruit. The fruit of my experience is Christ honoring and therefore good fruit. Testifying falsely would be bad fruit. Satan would not give an experience that honored Jesus. So based on these facts, you should be able to know that the experience is valid. I also hope that somewhere in my words someone can find help and encouragement and a closer walk with Jesus. I hope people can look beyond the semantics to the heart of the matter which is to share, encourage and grow. Your Sister in Christ, Bows44 |

39 | who made god | Is 45:18 | Bows44 | 158961
For this is what the LORD says— he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited— he says: "I am the LORD, and there is no other. If there is no other, then no one made God. Rev. 22:13 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." There was no one before God. I know this is hard to comprehend, but that is just the way it is. Since God can not lie,(Num. 23:19) then this statement must be true. Hope this helps clarify things. Bows44 |

Hi Lil Kea13, Glad to hear that. Do you have a Bible? If not there are many online Bibles. I would recommend you read the Bible and when you come across something you don't understand, then ask for clarification. I wouldn't rely on others to tell me about the Bible. It is important for us to read it for ourselves. Also, it would be nice to know a little more about you. By clicking on your screen name you can update your user profile with anything you wish to share. Bless you as you grow in the Lord. Bows44 |
